Ralph says better than expected but unlikely to play tomorrow. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Good news but I'll be surprised to see him tomorrow. Back for Burnley will be a boost. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

That's a shame. For him, anyway. I'm more worried about Son. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Burnley game at a minimum, I think. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

And good to see the U23s get a win. Scrappy game, though. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Didn't catch much of it but a badly needed win. 1-0. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Think it was LB. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Or, depending on the chosen finger, commenting on his performance? Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I'm afraid it will. Saints can't reprint away tickets. Best hope is they can email Spurs TO with the details for collection of a duplicate. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I'd go with that too. I think KWP is cup tied? Or rules stop him playing if he wasn't available for the first game. Please not Danso. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Yes. See post below. Wish I'd seen this before and could have sent it direct. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Turns out they've posted me someone else's ticket, which I've sent back, as requested, as data protection won't let them tell me whose it is to post direct. With snail mail from Shropshire to Soton to somewhere else, it'll never get there in time. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Mayhem. Penalty saved but Lloris looks like he's given away another. Not given though looked pretty clear. Kevin Friend on VAR didn't give it. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Thanks for the clarification. But no doubt it was a backpass. Deliberately hit with the outside of his foot towards the keeper. Would have been exciting to watch if it had been given. Agree it would have been like a very short corner pulled back for a shot. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I would love another Son red card. Or injury (nothing too serious, obviously) Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I can agree with a fair bit of that. But I'm not sure we tired that much. We were still trying to take the game to them, and pressing, right to the end. In fact, that is why we conceded four. I'll agree Romeu and Hojbjerg did a decent job, but Hojbjerg was a mixed bag at times. JWP is now better than Romeu in midfield. But we'll have to disagree on Armstrong. I think.he's the most aware, versatile and intelligent part of our midfield, and we missed him badly. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Just a last couple of observations. Although our midfield didn't do badly, it finally lacked the composure and decision-making of Armstrong, in particular, and JWP who had to play at RB. Several times we couldn't find the last ball or tried to overplay it. We need Armstrong and Valery back (or KWP ready), hopefully for Burnley. And, when we took such a small allocation, I was annoyed to have spectators with no interest in Saints behind me. Barely suppressed excitement at every Liverpool attack. Commenting that "their manager will be gone in the morning. Don't think he's even picked a specialist RB, and against Liverpool!" I did reply to that and I'm glad to say they went quieter, leaving at 3-0 saying "job done" Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Think the freekick would have been so close to the goal it would have been a nightmare for him to manage. So he bottled it rather than implement a clear rule. And, of course, VAR doesn't apply here under the illogical VAR rules. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

The difference was the first wasn't clear and obvious. The second was, to everyone except Friend and the VAR ref. Edit. Have looked again. Both should have been penslties. Although Long's holding was no worse than what gets ignored at every corner. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

I've got pride in my team today and have no problem with it. We took the game to Liverpool, were ultimately done by a corrupt ref and a better team. Move on. If we'd sat back and parked the bus, you'd be moaning about that too. Be nice if you left this forum for Saints fans Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Now I've finished my rant about the ref (justified because he really changed the game), general thoughts. First half was good, but you can't miss chances against Liverpool. Whether his luck has changed or he's gone off the boil, Ings isn't quite happening now. JWP very creditable job at FB, but was caught for the second. Thought Bednarek and Stephens were good, Bertrand ok in defence, dithered in attack. McCarthy saved us another goal or two. Not much chance for the ones that went in. Hojbjerg had chances and wasted them. And made mistakes. Romeu solid without being creative. Long was Long. Needed someone to feed off his work. Redmond - not his best game. Also spurned chances by needing the extra pass. Boufal and Adams added little - Boufal at fault fur one goal. Obafemi didn't do much wrong, but didn't impress. Liverpool are a very good team. I'm cross that we didn't play them on a level playing field. 4-0 flattered them and would have been less if we hadn't kept giving it a go. Credit to the team. What matters now is to perform like that against lesser teams and put points on the board. Good beer. Good company. Good day out. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Because just like the ref will be reluctant to give a penalty against Liverpool at Anfield, so the VAR ref will be reluctant to overrule him. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

Not if play continues for a while. Can you imagine the reaction if, after a Liverpool goal at Anfield, it had been called back for a penalty to us? But it should have been. As it stands, VAR is toothless and just as open to subjectivity, bias and cheating as leaving decisions to the ref. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk
