It’s understandable why some people think racism might be a reason for their treatment when you see the comparison with how Kate has been portrayed for doing the exact same things. Newspapers are never going to be overtly racist about a Royal even if they have racist motivations behind what they write. This buzzfeed article (I can’t guarantee how accurate a representation it is) reminded me of a similar feature about the treatment some black footballers got. White footballer - generous guy buys his lovely family a house v Black football - blows his massive pack packed on expensive stuff. All very subtle, nothing overtly racist written but seen in comparison you have to question the reasons for the difference. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ellievhall/meghan-markle-kate-middleton-double-standards-royal It’s impossible to say if race is a factor but with papers like the Mail or Telegraph which would have a sizeable amount a racist/xenophobic readers I wouldn’t be surprised if there was an element of pandering to their preconceptions.
  4. Yep, happened right in front of me. The little sh!t ran onto the pitch and after Boufal got him off, a steward grabbed him by the collar to make sure he didn’t go back on. Then bizarrely, the bloke, who I assume was his dad, instead of telling the little ****er off decided to start laying into a steward. The other Stewards bundled him but then we’re surrounded by a load his chav mates, who just as bizarrely seemed to be upset that the stewards were doing their job. You have to feel sorry for the kid really, with parents like that he has no hope.
  5. Calm down old man. It’s pretty much impossible to predict the outcome of an election in 5 years time. Everything depends on what happens with Brexit, if it’s a success the Tories will walk it regardless of what Labour do. If it has any sort of negative effect on people’s lives then the party that screamed “just get it done” will look like a bunch of fools.
  6. Exactly. To stand any chance of winning an election Labour need someone who can appeal to middle England. Wether Starmer can do that remains to be seen but it’s no point choosing a leader just to try and win the votes of a load of northern monkeys in their traditional strongholds. Simply by not being Corbyn he should be able to win those back.
  7. I'm not upset in the slightest, just think it's a bit of an odd thing to do, but I guess these forums are a magnet for all sorts of weirdos. It's particularly strange that you seem to think sabotaging another parties internal politics is fair game given how much you like to preach about democracy.
  8. If you don’t think pretending to be a supporter of a party you oppose, just to vote for a bad leader is dishonest then I give up. Luckily most people don’t reside in the gutter like you, if they did then our political system would be in an even bigger mess.
  9. Tactical voting is nothing like trying to sabotage another parties leadership contest. People vote tactically because the voting system is not fit for purpose. I have only ever voted tatically in a GE because my preferred choice has no chance of winning so rather than waste a vote I vote for the choice of the two with a chance that best represents my views - there is nothing dishonest about it at all. Pretending to be a member of a party you hate just to try and get a sh!t leader elected, is not just a bit weird but is just plain dishonest. You certainly can’t lecture anyone on being undemocratic if you support this sort of behaviour.
  10. That's rubbish - Corbyn would have won regardless, he 49.6% of full members' votes and 57.6% of affiliated supporters so the £3 sign-ups made no difference at all. Any weirdo that paid £3 to vote for something they didn't believe in just gave money to the party.
  11. Seriously. What sort of bellend joins an opposition party to try and influence a vote?
  12. Doesn't change the fact that more people voted for parties that wanted to stop Brexit or hold a second vote, despite one of those parties being pretty much unelectable. The choice we had at the last election wasn't Bexit yes or No. It was Bexit yes, or maybe no but with a Marxist government led by an IRA-loving antisemite.
  13. Football fans will moan about anything, the fans were the ones calling for VAR this time last season. It just needs the offside analysis and the handball rules tweaking and it's fine.
  14. To be fair the Tories got a stonking majority because the opposition were a bunch of unelectable Marxists, and even then, more votes went to parties who favoured a second referendum or cancelling Brexit altogether.
  15. I thought he was finished after the 0-9 but fair play to the man, it takes a lot to come back from that. He’s obviously a fantastic manager.
  16. True, Iran and the US are both to blame.
  17. To be fair, the fact that they were expecting an American air attack would have made the chances of this sort of thing more likely, if it was an accidental surface to air missile that brought it down. These things happen when you put a country with a third rate military on a war footing. Obviously, whoever was operating the missile shoulders most of the blame but fact is, if Trump hadn't have murdered Soleimani then all these people would probably be still alive.

You may be right, to be honest I don't really pay much attention to the Royals so couldn't say. When they talked about climate change it interested me and I was astounded at the vitriol aimed at them for just trying to do some good. I guess the average Daily Mail reader took comfort in the highlighting of their hypocrisy, made their own lifestyles less guilt free.

They were not lecturing anyone, they were just trying to do their bit to help save the planet. What is wrong with you people, surely trying to help is a good thing regardless of their carbon footprint - yes? Little Englanders didn’t like what they said because 1. It’s the truth and 2. It wasn’t told to them by the usual beardy, sandal-wearing lefty, it was the darlings of their establishment echoing what the likes of Jeremy Corbyn have been saying for decades. Of course there is more than a hint of hypocrisy, but the same can be said for anyone that has ever spoken out about the environment, especially anyone rich and famous.

That’s typical of the attitude which is making them want to get out of this country. All they were doing is use their position to promote a good cause and instead of being praised for trying to help they just get vilified for being hypocritical.
  21. Oh come on, the fact that you listed Corbyn’s links with Russia as a negative when Boris/Cummins clearly have a stronger association shows the power of the bias in the media. What was it, the Telegraph Corbyn is Stalin headline, or the picture of him in a Russian looking hat?
  22. LOL you are proving our point perfectly. You perceived Corbyn as having Russian links because of what you have read/seen in the media yet Boris' chief advisor lived and worked in Russia for years, Boris has Russian links himself and has suppressed a report into Russian interference in our democracy.
  23. What are Corbyn's Russian links then?
  24. Of course he would have. You must agree that the press bias had an influence in the result though - agree?
