  1. He's played well but we could have someone better lined up so happy to trust the club on this one.
  2. I'm one of Lowe's biggest critics but to use the Bale thing as a stick to beat him with is retarded. The position we were in we need cash in the bank, not a the chance of maybe getting some more 5-10 years don the line. You don't need to be Brain of Britain to work that one out.
  3. In theory allowing alcohol in some areas and not others could actually assist crowd control. Put the booze area the opposite side of the ground to the away fans and the rowdy element would move there, making confrontation less likely.
  4. They could easily have alcohol free areas like in cricket so people like Colinjb who are terrified of flying plastic beer glasses can sit in safety.
  5. Welcome to the SaintsWeb Forum, home of the only football fans on the planet who think drinking beer whilst watching football is a bad thing.
  6. Not sure what is offensive about that.
  7. What MLT has said doesn't make us look a terrible club either but he gets ripped apart on here for just saying what he thinks. That's my point, bad PR either undermines the club or it doesn't.
  8. Oh come on. Cortese has made loads of PR gaffs. Banning photographers, fell out with the Echo, spats with club legends, the harsh way he dealt with Adkins. Whenever there was any bad PR it was always "who cares what anyone else thinks". Matt says a few things that portray the club in a bad light and the world has ended.
  9. The thing is, some of what MLT has said has not been positive but some on here have been banging on like it's undermining the club. Turning on a club legend as if he's doing something disastrous. Then when Cortese makes the club look like a bunch of c*nts suddenly positive PR is not at all important.
  10. Strange Le Tiss is being so complimentary, he is supposed to be trying to undermine the club according to the mongs on here.
  11. Great idea, the rule is daft anyway.
  12. I don't think buying football clubs has been the style of the Leibherr family. One thing they ARE fond of is making money, and you don't do that by trying to bankroll some football team into the CL, that's probably the best way of losing a few hundred million.
  13. I would say this is the most likely scenario. It wouldn't surprise me if the next owners are just as rich as the current ones though so it's not worth any of the cult peeing their pants over it. Cortese clearly has good contacts, if he builds the Southampton brand up enough the club will be sold for a good price.
  14. But don't the US execute more people than any other country? They also kill thousands and invade countries for oil and bankroll countries with bad human rights records. Korea and Iran will be much safer from a US threat if they have a nuclear deterrent.
  15. I think we all have a Dell sized mentality to an extent, not just those who think we will never qualify for the CL because we have never before. The vast majority of Saints fans saw the fact that we were 3 points clear of the relegation places as a reason to keep Nige in charge. Cortese saw it as a reason to fire him. I doubt we will ever qualify but it's certainly not impossible and is where Cortese will be aiming.
  16. I don't see what their motivation for using it would be. Just like Iran, if they use it they know they will be wiped of the face of the planet so what is the point. From their point of view it is probably essential to warn off aggressors like the USA.
  17. The US has tested plenty of nukes in the past.
  18. The Yanks do a massive military exercise in the region and no one says a thing, yet the North Koreans test one bomb and suddenly it's offensive? They have every right to defend themselves, just like Iran.
  19. Football must be one of ethnically diverse industries in existence. I can't think of any other where the most celebrated and well paid staff represent so many different colours and nationalities. At my work the only foreigners are the Polish ladies who empty the bins. If you look for racism anywhere, in any country you will find it. All programmes like this do is re-enforce peoples' prejudices against football supporters.
  20. I can't remember the last time I saw a racist incident at St Marys. The last thing I saw that could be considered mildly racist was the "shoe-bomber" chant, but even that wasn't racist in my opinion. I hear way more racist stuff at work or down the pub. The whole kick it out campaign is b*ll*x.
  21. To be fair on the Steau trip a couple of my mates got mugged by a Police officer and another got threatened by a drug-dealer, the hotel was run by the mafia and the concierge was a pimp.
  22. Probably being singled out because his skills with a football brought joy to millions of people in the Italian World Cup. His illness in itself is no sadder than anyone else going through alcohol addiction, but the fact that so many people had a connection with him is why he gets publicity. It's not that hard to understand. I fell sorry for anyone with an alcohol addiction. I didn't know Gazza but the fact that I've seen him go from megastar to complete f*ck up makes it particularly sad.
  23. Since when do you have to know someone to feel sympathy for them?
  24. It's a cult thing.
