Just three or four players who are yet to admit to knowing what is at stake more like. Of course they know what is at stake, they are the ones who have had their pay withheld, their agents will be all over this like a cheap pompey whore. It's all a big game of bull****, the players know the score, Birch knows the players know the score. He has to come out with rubbish like this to make the mongs think he's actually doing something.
-
Rubbish. Every day will feel like a derby win when they're toast. Anyway, even if they stay alive we probably won't be playing them in the league for a while, wether they end up as AFC Pompey or not might not make much difference.

More pressure put on the players by the few... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18958234 I wouldn't be surprised if the PFA has told the players to dig their heals in over this. It sets a dangerous precedent for their members if clubs' owners can blackmail them into handing over their money just so they can get their mits on it further down the line. The PFA need to make an example of pompey to ensure future contracts are honoured at other clubs or else.

"They once had to close the corner sections of said stadium." Ha ha, that is fantastic. Possibly day's away from liquidation, just got smashed 4-0 by a bunch of part-timers, very very best they can hope for is starting League 1, bottom, on minus 10, with their youth team, owned by a loan shark intent on getting as much money out the club as possible. No training ground, crumbling old stadium not fit for League 2. And they come up with that! We once closed the corners on our stadium! I'm loving reading their insults, keep them coming guys. We're at the stage now where they could just go any moment. No pleas in the press, no warnings, no begging. Chanrai withdraws his offer then that's it - POP.

"Hands up who's sh!t"

I actually think it might be funnier if they don't get liquidated. They will go through League 1 like a cheap vindaloo.

Think you're going to be in for a shock fatty.

Someone on another forum reckons Bradford's players were paid with the parachutes direct via the PFA when they went tits up. Didn't get liquidated but it might set some sort of precedent, Bradford being one of the other former Prem clubs to go into admin. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bradford_city/2227522.stm The thing is, even if the players all know their money is secured they won't advertise it, neither will the PFA or anyone else.

Will the Premier League be surprised by us at all?

I just hope our style of play isn't our downfall. It's one thing trying to pat it about like Arsenal against Coventry, a bit different when it's actually Arsenal you are up against. Our record against the top teams in the Championship last season wasn't great. -
I'm liking our transfer policy, bringing in good young players who will probably stick around or at least be worth something if we go down. Very sensible.

I'm guessing it's because it's harder to get away with it nowadays. There is CCTV everywhere, traffic cams that read your number plate, computers that can recognise your face, forensics are improving all the time and mobile phones give the Rozzers your pin point location 24hrs a day.

I'm glad I didn't get tickets for any London events now, I expect it will just be hours of waiting around in queues while a bunch under-staffed, under-paid and under-trained security staff root through thousands of bags. It's all pointless anyway because a terrorist can do just as much damage blowing themselves up on the overcrowded tube or in one of the entrances which will have thousands waiting outside trying to get in. The way these things are done here are always a joke. You have clueless/corrupt civil servants handing out lucrative contracts to their mates on companies who make millions at our expense. They will do a **** job, make their money at it wont matter because the event will be over and there is nothing any of us can do about it because the politicians only concern will be deflecting blame.

You always get nobheads on here who hate the fact that other people know stuff. Clyne Looks like a good signing.

I was in between houses recently so had to rent. I found it more expensive than buying.

I always had Turkish down as a fattie.

That's pompey's problem though. They are like an alcoholic who thinks 4 or 5 pints a day is not a problem because they used to down 8 or 9. They didn't see the problem with bring in Kitson and co because compared to David James and co their wages were not that high. The reality was they were still paying stupid amounts for a club in their position. I doubt Gillet is on alot but they could get cheaper, with their debt they certainly shouldn't be offering more than Doncaster.

I have to admit I didn't think Guly would get a look-in in the Prem. I really do not have a clue how well we will do this season. Sometimes I think we have the best young manager in the country and will surprise everyone. Then you hear news like this and start to think we have a team with little, and a manager with no Prem experience and could get a right spanking.
-
I don't think telling your mate what you did at work is a sacking offence, unless you have signed the official secrets act. For what it's worth I heard a similar story but this involved returning food because it was on the wrong shaped plate! Definitely a ponce. What do you expect he's a banker. As long as the club is run well that's all that matters.

Read on another forum that Bradford City's players were paid direct by the PFA using the parachutes when they were in admin. Not sure how accurate that is but if it is then it sets a precedent and the skates are ****ged. It would explain the lack of transfer activity. If the players money is guaranteed by the PFA there is no way they would take the sort of hit pompey want/need them to. There is also no way any team would pay money for them if they could pick them up for nothing in a couple of week's time.

Graphic design. It's what I've wanted to do since I was a kid, still love doing it but now I'm fed up with staring at a computer all day. Plus the pay is OK but not great. Problem is I've ploughed a long specialised furrow and can't see how a career change can happen.
-
I'm trying to like it but seeing it in the flesh yesterday it just feels our team has had it's identity airbrushed out. When you compare it to the classic Arsenal strip yesterday you have to say dumping our heritage has to devalue the brand. It's not a big deal just all a bit strange and pointless.

He has the ability but will need to up his work-rate in the Prem. In Nige we trust.

I don't mind fierce rivalry in football but fighting over religion is pathetic.

The happiest moment you've been at a Saints game?
aintforever replied to Tom8558's topic in The Saints
4-1 v Liverpool, I was a kid at the time and Liverpool were untouchable. All I had ever known is Liverpool were the best, to beat them was a dream but we completely outclassed them. Nichol's 4-2 formation was still the best football I have ever seen Saints play. Le Tissier, Wallace, Rideout and Shearer up front, with Case pulling the strings in midfield - superb stuff. The Man Utd 3-1 and 6-3's were also up there. Rasiak's equaliser is also a stand out moment - the most mad I have ever gone. Plus Fonte's goal at Brighton which pretty much secured promotion. -
The whole Celtic - Rangers thing is moronic. A cesspit of ignorance and hatred. However I expect these guys were just annoyed at Rangers being replaced and were just trying to shock people. There's little point being upset by it.
