  1. Whilst I despise scrongers I don't think it's anywhere near just their problem, the problem is just greed. You have people on 40K a year in uproar at the suggestion that they don't receive child benefit handouts. Doctors due an absolute fortune in pensions who cry like babies at the idea it could be cut. Business who moan and threaten to move abroad rather than pay the amount of tax needed. It goes from the benefit cheats at the bottom to the bankers and big business at the top. Greed is just the accepted norm in today's world.
  2. The sticking point will still be the players wages. I can see the PFA digging their heels in over this, it sets a dangerous precedent if their members are blackmailed into losing money they are legally entitled to, especially when there are plenty of parachute payments due further down the line. I wonder if one outcome could be for the PFA, FL and PL to arrange for the players to be paid direct with the parachute money and become free agents, with pompey forced to accept not having the parachutes as a condition of getting their golden share?
  3. It is sh!t customer service. "For a student discount customer must provide valid student ID at the time of purchase" is pretty crystal clear instructions.
  4. The idea that the Polish are in some way better workers is nonsense, their unemployment rate is higher than ours. I expect it's safe to say people who travel hundreds of miles from extreme poverty tend to work harder, that's obvious. I expect someone somwhere in the World could do you job better for a fraction of the wage as well.
  5. It is a tough one, I hate scroungers but there also people in genuine need. The best way has to be to focus on making lower paid jobs worthwhile. The universal benefits and lowering tax for the low paid is a good start. There should also be help with child care/travel subsidies etc for those in work as well.
  6. Half the stadium at Reading is full of floating fans. I saw at least 2 kids in Chelsea shirts last time I went.
  7. You are having an argument against an imaginary opinion to try and create conflict, that make you a troll. "An Internet troll is a person who takes pleasure in sowing discord on the Internet, an individual who enjoys creating conflict. He or she creates and fuels arguments that upset other members of the online community. Their aim is to provoke biased others to take up their cause. The overarching goal is to damage people, entities, or ideas with which the Internet troll disagrees, or to provoke controversy. Internet trolls have been described as "sad people, living their lonely lives vicariously through those they see as strong and successful”. They typically possess a poorly developed set of social skills and have difficulty viewing their actions from the perspectives of their victims. They may be callous to the fact that they are harming real people, instead viewing Internet users as "digital abstractions". They may thus feel no remorse for harm they cause, and in fact may judge their own level of "success" by the amount of that harm. Most are impervious to rationale, mature arguments against their wares, and will protest that their right to free speech is being curtailed if ever there is an attempt to call them on their trolling. The original definition of "troll" was much narrower. When first used, it meant an Internet utterance (or the person making that utterance) that was deliberately incorrect and was intended to lure innocent readers to reply with a correction. The troll or his or her confederates would then ridicule the responder for not having realized that the original statement was a joke. Internet trolls are additionally interested in meeting their own attention-needs, which are often unmet in their real life, and may suffer from various psychological disorders. Whether trolling is a protected free speech activity or whether it amounts to libel and defamation depends upon the nature, content, and result of the statements by the troll. " sad, sad, sad
  8. That doesn't even make sense. troll
  9. Lambert will easily be good enough for the Prem.
  10. It's only tedious because of the ****ing trolls. Everyone pretty much agrees on the fact that the club are looking to expand and will wait to see what demand is if we stay up.
  11. **** me, it's going round in circles again. Don't feed the trolls. I think it's safe to say we're all pretty much agreed that there is potential for growth but nothing will happen until we are established in the Prem and there is obvious demand.
  12. Unbelievable sentence. Feel so sorry for the guy, life ruined over that. Probably handed out by some old judge who has no idea of the nature of social networking sites like facebook. Another reason for the harsh sentence is probably this: "Hampshire police had been monitoring sites like Facebook during the riots in an operation costing £400,000." Basically the hants rozzers had to justify wasting our money on a team of doughnut munchers to sit there and try to find someone posting something on the internet. To justify their excessive overtime I expect they exaggerated the seriousness to the clueless judge who in turn handed out the harsh sentence as a deterrent. No serious criminal is going to arrange anything on facebook FFS, the whole thing is a joke.
  13. I don't think Leibherr would have brought the club unless he thought it could be developed, and judging by what Cortese has been saying that's what the plans are. Someone of Cortese's calibre wouldn't mess around with pipe dreams. Cortese has spent his career working in the sports departments of swiss banks, there is probably no one better positioned to spot potential business opportunities in football. It's not a case of "build it and they will come", he will look at the stats, the data base, the number of unique visitors to the website etc and he will be able to put those in context of other football/sporting businesses he has worked with. A friend from London gave me a tender document from 2007 that was aimed at flogging the club: SFC then had a database of 'active' supporters of over 140,000 people. 12,800 Season Ticket holders, 13,000 corporate contacts, 9,000 community contacts and over 120,000 general supporters. 74% ABC1 with 48% on over 30K pa - PL average 39% 10.3 million people within 90 mins drive The proof is always in the pudding - any expansion will obviously depend on demand this season and next. I wouldn't be surprised if Cortese already had a pretty good idea but if we get dicked next season and go straight back down any plans will have to be re-thought out. It doesn't matter how big the potential is if we are not in the Prem.
  14. I like "together as one".
  15. Internet Troll - Definition Troll- Internet poster who takes oppositional views to any advocacy site, regardless of the actual strength of his chosen position, for the pure purpose of stirring up debates, generating anonymously, and triggering hatred. Goal of Trolling- The feelings of superiority and laughs that come from generating hatred, bad feeling, or confusion on the target of trolling, and attention generated from getting targets to respond. Tools of Trolling- 1. Ad hominem insults of posters mental status, looks, intellect, or typing skills. 2. Disregard of any fact that does not back the troll's advocacy position, and excessive focus of any debunker information, regardless of the motives of the debunker. 3. Endless verbosity when arguing any position, regardless of logic or reasoning or actual facts, but a lot of use of "facts" discussed generally, but never quoted or sourced. Example- Thousands of scientists say I am right. Payoff of trolling- 1. Making other people feel bad, without the risk of getting one's face punched in, for being rude, cruel, or socially uncaring. 2. Bullying without the mess and fuss and muss of actually answering for bad behavior.
  16. I do like that.
  17. "The absence of the statutory annual report and accounts, coupled with the fact that Portpin is registered in the secrecy jurisdiction of the British Virgin Islands, have made transparency impossible to achieve." Wouldn't surprise me at all if Portpin was part owned by Gaydamak.
  18. My mate supports Arsenal and he's had a ST at St Mary's for years. At first it was because they were full up at Highbury then it's more for convenience.
  19. No one is suggesting that size of catchment area = size of support, though that fact is obviously lost on the usual suspects. Catchment area is obviously a factor for potential support from fairweathers and neutrals etc - people you need to convert to more regular goers in order to build the fan base.
  20. Not exactly a conspiracy, it's his job to get as much money for the creditors as possible.
  21. What Strachan achieved, given his resources, was excellent. SFC now has the potential to achieve more. F*ck me it's not that hard to understand is it? I can't believe I've ended up being trolled by the numpty again. This forum is being ruined.
  22. I'm sorry but any shower of sh!te can get to a FA Cup Final with an easy enough draw, Millwall and Portsmouth have proved that. Apart from Spurs in the 3rd round we just got an easy run of games.
  23. Boro actually won something and got to a UEFA cup final for starters.
  24. I know, there is no reason why we cannot spend similar to them now though. That's my point, Strachan was always up against it money wise.
  25. I expect Cortese will be aiming for Europe. Will take a while but that will be his plan.
