  1. You know as well as anyone it's not just a case of the amounts changing, the way is it distributed is completely different. Wimbledon couldn't do today what they did in the 80's, there is no way we could get a 2nd place finish in the top tier like we did in the 80's. Sky's money has distorted the whole game and I just find it so dull. The fact that teams like Everton, Spurs and Newcastle think getting 4th place is some sort of amazing achievement shows what a boring, pointless league it is.
  2. We have player a tough load of fixtures so it might not be a s bad as we think. But, the defence looks woefully short of experience, knowhow and ability. I cannot for the life of me understand why we spent £30mill odd and neglected the centre back position so blatantly. When we retired Jaidi and loaned out Martin I expected them to be replaced with 2 proven Premiership defenders. Instead all we do is take a punt on a Japanese player from the Dutch league. Shocking. Clyne looks quality but is still young, backup for Fox is a 16 year old. the whole situation is a mess.
  3. But 30 years ago we could win the league without rich owners, 20 years ago with our current owners we could have won the league. Today we don't have a chance even with rich owners - that is why money has ruined football. It is no longer a competition other than for 5 or 6 clubs. The Prem might be flashier with fancy foreign players and sterile shiny stadiums but the football is no better, English clubs were the best in Europe long before the money turned up. We will probably never see players as good as Keegan, Channon and Le Tiss playing for Saints for more than 1 or 2 seasons again.
  4. We bought success the last two seasons, didn't feel too bad. It's buying failure which sucks.
  5. I think a draw will be the best result. A win for either side would give them a boost.
  6. I couldn't give a monkeys. Football on Sunday is bad enough but I couldn't think if a worse day to go out for a few beers with your mates than a Monday night.
  7. If you hold your hand over the back 5 that looks a decent side. We've got some great attacking talent there but WBA will just look at that and think they can get 3 or 4 at least.
  8. Coldplay - Yellow. I will always remember when they played it in the pub we were in before the 2003 cup final and the whole place was a sea of yellow.
  9. You approach every game in the same way but fact is we are going to pick up more points against the lesser teams. Always have and always will. In the Prem it's as much about who you play as how you play.
  10. Shows how well Redknapp did.
  11. I don't understand why they don't show videos like that to kids when they pass their test. You have to shock people to get the message across. Not just kids. I recently went on a drivers awareness course for speeding and I don't think it was anywhere as near as effective as watching that. Seeing the potential consequences of your actions has to be helpful to anyone.
  12. -----------Gazzaniga------------ Clyne----Fonte----Yoshida----Fox Ramirez----Cork----Morgan----Lallana -------Lambert----Mayuka-------
  13. WBA will smash us. This is a tougher fixture than Spurs at home IMO.
  14. Wouldn't surprise me, I think that sort of thing goes on alot.
  15. Why do people keep linking him with jobs in the Championship? He's not exactly got a great CV. Name: Michael Appleton Occupation: Manager of Portsmouth, 15th in League 1 Achievements: One relegation
  16. The whole theory is just obviously nonsense. A country going to war to cover up some nonce politician, you need a really vivid imagination to believe that would happen. Just people with an agenda putting 2 and 2 together to make 27.
  17. That whole theory is laughable.
  18. Given that Saville wasn't convicted of any of the crimes I don't see how someone can sue a dead man for an offence that may or may not have happened whilst he was alive? It's typical of today's world that people are falling out the trees now to say "Jimmy touched my ass" when there is money up for grabs when they were not interested when it could have saved somone else from being abused.
  19. The ones with the money. they will do whatever is right for their investment. Do you really think it would be hard to find someone as good as or better than Cortese to sign the cheques?
  20. The owners could easily replace him with another high calibre Chief Exec, just like they could any other employee.
  21. Good article that. Everyone is looking around for people to blame but the fact is we've just got promoted too quick.
  22. ****ing Monday night - what a load of ****e. I'm actually not bothered about getting relegated, at least we get our Saturday footie back.
  23. To be fair it all depends on how the decisions are made and we don't know for sure. Every chairman at every club has the final say on who gets hired. it all depends if the signing have gone against Adkins' advice or wether they were all his idea. Only the people in on the meetings would know.
  24. Just bullsh!t jobs you get through kissing the right ass in the FA, real talent at the top level goes to the big clubs. Being part of the England set up is not exactly a good thing to have on a CV either - probably the biggest under-achieving nation in World football. If Reeds experience is so valuable how come it didn't stop him f*cking up a decent Charlton side? I have nothing against Reed the manager should be choosing what players to buy. If we want a DOF to do it, get one with a proven ability in management at a decent level.
  25. Not if it was Reed that decided to spunk all our money on a crocked South American instead of some experienced defenders. maybe Adkins is doing the best with what he has got to work with?
