Very intelligent remark. You must be pleased with yourself.

I think that a lot of people are missing the point. As a 60+ I paid £300 pound for my ticket last year. I didn`t hear any moans from anybody then that concessions starting at 60 (which rightly or wrongly is generally the case in most places) was a problem. I fully expected a fairly hefty rise in my ticket price and thought that about £400 would cover it. Now because of an arbitrary change in club policy I am suddenly being asked to pay £512. There has to have been a better way to deal with this. Generally speaking I suspect that most 60+`s are real long-time supporters like myself and they are being treated disrespectfully. Very few businesses would treat long-term regular customers in this way. As for people saying move or cherry-pick - why should I? I sat on the halfway line at the Dell for 25 years with my ST and at SMS since it opened. It is not a fair way of bringing the prices into line. As for those branding us as "whingers", all I can say is your turn will come before you know it!

Let the Arguments, Sniping and Name-Calling Commence!!
miserableoldgit replied to miserableoldgit's topic in The Lounge
It genuinely was my intention to try and start a debate about this, but I also expected any debate to very quickly turn into "argument, sniping and name-calling" because a) the article came from The Mail, which always gets shouted down and b) it`s the way that all debates like this end up on this forum. I just thought that I would give it a try. -

I do not follow Hitchens blog. It was just an article that I read which I thought, rather naively, worthy of reasoned debate. Didn`t take long did it? -

I guess that you will either love or hate this. Personally I love it.

I saw something this morning that if it hadn`t had been so annoying and possibly dangerous, would have been very funny. I was waiting at some traffic lights ( because the light were RED) when two cyclists coming from different directions, both facing red lights, decided to excercise their "right" to ignore them and sail on through. In doing this they both had to take avoiding action to stop colliding with each other. Why is it that the majority of cyclists (and it IS the majority) think that red lights do not apply them, ride without lights at night, ride on pavements and yet take the moral high-ground and accuse motorists of not being "bike-aware??"

Roll Call of those who think Boj is a *****
miserableoldgit replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Muppet Show
Well there`s your first mistake. Those of us that were brought up to think that are apparently out of step with with modern life. It is now acceptable to call someone (who you probably don`t actually know) a "Nazi scum Baj w@nker c\/nt f\/ck". Oh for the days when people were able to communicate with each other using the thousands of normal words in the English language without resorting to the language of the street through lack of imagination and probably intelligence. AND on top of that, my ST has gone up by £215!!!!! -
It is going up for women born in 1953 and after. Anyone born before then ( my wife 1950) is not affected and retire at 60.

My wife reached official retirement age (60) last year and is now recieving her pension. Her ST will go from £300 last year to £515 this year. This for someone on a pension. How can this be right?

Probably this :- http://www.raf.mod.uk/bbmf/ A Lanc, Spitfire and a Hurricane. And is normally a "flyover" by wartime aircraft at this Broadlands event in August :- http://www.eventplan.mysite1952.co.uk/blastsfromthepast.html

How about if you are a woman @ 60+?

Had these e-mailed to me today. SOME are quite funny My neighbour knocked on my door at 2:30am this morning, can you believe that ... 2:30am?! Luckily for him I was still up playing my Bagpipes. The Grim Reaper came for me last night, and I beat him off with a vacuum cleaner. Bugger me, talk about Dyson with death. Did you hear about the fat alcoholic transvestite? All he wanted to do was eat, drink and be Mary. Paddy says "Mick, I'm thinking of buying a Labrador ." "Bugger that" says Mick, "have you seen how many of their owners go blind" Man calls 999 and says "I think my wife is dead" The operator says how do you know? He says "The sex is the same but the ironing is building up! I was in bed with a blind girl last night and she said that I had the biggest penis she had ever laid her hands on. I said "You're pulling my leg" I've just had a letter back from Screwfix. They said they regretted to inform me that they're not actually a dating agency. Spent £40 on eBay last week for a penis enlarger. Just opened it and some bastard's sent me a magnifying glass! I saw a poor old lady fall over today on the ice!! At least I presume she was poor - she only had £1.20 in her purse. My girlfriend thinks that I'm a stalker. Well, she's not exactly my girlfriend yet. I woke up last night to find the ghost of Gloria Gaynor standing at the foot of my bed. At first I was afraid.......then I was petrified. What's the difference between Iron Man and Iron Woman? One's a superhero and the other is an instruction. I was explaining to my wife last night that when you die you are reincarnated but must come back as a different creature. She said "I would like to come back as a cow." I said "You're obviously not bloody listening." The wife has been missing a week now. Police said to prepare for the worst. So I have been to the charity shop to get all her clothes back. Hi mate, I don't want you to panic but I'm texting you from the casualty. Turns out the new Dyson Ball cleaner isn't what i thought it was.

Parking wardens are striking in Southampton
miserableoldgit replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Muppet Show
Whilst I am sure that some of them ARE striking, I don`t think that as a a whole, they are any better looking than Traffic Wardens in any other city. -
According to Radio Solent they have.
