TBH this was my first thought when I saw these articles.

Sadly, the fact is that the season does not end now - there is another half-season to go. 50% of the season gone and one home win. I am, strangely, reasonably happy with our away form. If the four away wins are repeated in the second half of the season, giving us eight, I would be ecstatic. However, if the home form is repeated.............:(

At least two newspapers are reporting this morning that Poopey are to bid for Jack Cork in January and Lallana and Surman wanted by Stoke and valued at £1.5 each. Lallana says that he wants to stay as he would rather play first team here than reserves somewhere else.

Have we signed him?? What nationality is he??

Yeah, well that is a fair point, but we can`t afford them apparently.

Surely the reality is somewhere between. During the first half yesterday we played some superb football - far better than anything that we saw last season - but during the second half the inherent weaknesses set in. We started making a series of mistakes and were unable to keep the ball. There are some really good things happening with the team at the moment - things to be excited about - but there is a long way to go before we are a force to be reckoned. The situation with the TEAM is not black or white. Give credit where credit is due but lets not get carried away.

Although I am not a great fan of McG, I am going to stand up for him a little bit. The one thing that he has is good close control, in a similar way to Peter Crouch. He is not, however, the natural goal scorer that Rupes and Co think he is. I am not sure where he ought to play, although, in the hole behind the stikers seems the likely position. The main reason that we are not scoring goals is that we don`t have a "poacher". A player with a natural gift for being in the right place at the right time. It`s a cutting edge that we need. We are creating chances but do not have a clinical finisher to put them in the back of the net.
