Saints vs Rotherham or Luton - 3rd Round Draw Thread
astrasri replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
This is a winnable cup-tie, but because it is a cup-tie it's not a game we have a God-given right to win. I think we will dig in and grind out a result. -
Having seen Saga's sub appearances earlier this season I am totally convinced he would not have been any improvement on a below par Ricky Lambert.

From behind the Northam goal the view was, Trotman made some mistakes, some of them really scary, and then he made some very good moves that seemed to make up for the mistakes. So on balance he could be judged a having a reasonable game. His performaces in the last two games probably show why Preston are happy to loan him out so much - he is not the finished article yet. Maybe he has "Saga-syndrome" (arrive at a new club and play your socks of to start with and then revert to a less spectacular standard once settled in). I'm not knocking the guy, because he was so good in his first few games I just wonder why he has had so much loan time. Having watched Thomas against Brighton I'd be happy if he continued after January if Trotman went back, providing of coarse that he kept that standard up!

The Official "I'm going to Hartlepool on a Tuesday" thread
astrasri replied to bungle's topic in The Saints
A season of all seasons, made up my mind about this one before I bought my first ever season this season, even before we started on this tremendous run of form. A badge of honour trip? definitely! Have to go on the coach - need to sleep on the way back ready for work on Weds. Hmmm...good job I don't have beard!!! -
I was waiting around the shop before the game today when he and another player walked passed. Some fans asked him for an autograph, but one guy was a numpty and didn't have a pen. Wasting your time there I thought, but Murty went into the shop and re-appeared with a pen to sign the autographs which he duly did together with posing for several photographs. Great guy I thought.

well it is at the top end!!!

From where I stand (oops, sorry, sit) Dan Harding has been a great signing, works very hard, wins more than he loses and has the presence to break up an attack with seemng calmness. Unfortunately like every other player in the league (and world) he has his weaknesses and when he comes up against a really pacy winger he struggles to beat his man. That doesn't mean he gives up, but he doesn't have the same domination that he has over slower players and from that perspective he does need more cover in these games. He's not a crap player because of it, just sometimes fallible.

Without reading all this thread all the way through when did this start? I have a season ticket in the Northam and every match I have sat next to different persons on each side, which doesn't indicate to me that they have seson tickets.

This season I have my first ever season ticket(s) and I'm in the Northam behind the goal. When the 3rd BR goal went in I sat down into my seat utterly despondent, I woke up next morning still sick to the stomach and it was midday before I could even think about getting into the news or online. Why was this? If we had played badly or deserved to lose then so be it, BUT because we had played such good team football and at times dominated the game a last second loss was so very hard to take. We are making progress slowly (possibly too slowly for the fans, especially mine, peace of mind), but we are moving forward. The last 20 mins (or so) some of our key players were totally knackered - Jaidi for one, I doubt he's had to play at such a constant high pace at his previous clubs, not a criticism IMO just a fact on the day. Rovers were a league 1 class opposition and we still have some way to go to match that, but we will get there. I have decided to stop relying on each match as comes along to be the"start of the season" and just take each result as it comes. Individual players do or do not live up to expectations depending on how each of the 16 or so thousand fans see it, my view is that even with the squad additions we have made none of the subs made this season have made match winning contributions - probably why we haven't done that (Yeovil 2 penalties excepted!!) FWIW I thought Papa did OK - long way to go but at least when he had the ball in and around their area he chose to go through the middle towards goal rather than our traditional route of of taking the ball away from goal. That's my 6 pennyworth and I'll be back on Sat raring to go for the next game.......COYR

You know, I've been watching the progress of Tesco's for years - but I hadn't realised that they had branched out into selling footballers. Do people really think that all these players they are demanding are just sitting around waiting for the call from AP? If they are any good they have to be prised away from their current clubs - and that can be done overnight? Get real guys.

Sorry Stu, it's not the club's fault. It has been on the OS that discounted renewals would end after Friday 31st and the general sale would begin on Sat 1st. I had been hanging on until Sat in the hope that there might be a better choice of seats by anyone not renewing. As late as Friday the club published that renewals would be accepted on Saturday, but not guarantee-ing the same seat.

Just home - 2 more bought this afternoon.

So, cutting to the chase, is it Strachan, or not?
astrasri replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
I don't know the answer to the original question, but I do think it is a pleasure to see this thread develop.....it's good to have light - hearted fun after all the bitterness posted over the last.... (add your own time span). Cheers Guys and Girls let's keep the fun going on this board. -
I don't like to slag off other posters, but without reading all the the posts my hackles rose reading the opening post on this thread. If any knumpty thinks the current situation is due entirely to Leon Crouch's involvement then they must have come in on the last banana boat. The real reasons have been listed on her many, many times - so congratulations Thedelldays you suceeded in getting a reaction in winding people up - really hope that was your intention and that you really don't believe what you posted.
-
So that's it then......McGoldrick to Sheffield, score a further 20 goals this season and get them promoted!

If I were Surman/Llallana and wanted to move into Premiership football - the last club I would sign for in January is West Brom...the penultimate club I would sign for in January is Stoke! WTF would either of these guys go for Stoke? A good option for players looking to end their careers - not to begin them.
