Agree on both counts. And that’s the massive frustration. At WHU last Sunday he made one fantastic defensive recovery run and blocked would have been a decent opportunity. But in the final third….🤦‍♂️…..and that’s the worry. I can see more of a reason to start him today than last game. But there’s a big part of me - given how very, very good City are - that thinks it’s just delaying the inevitable. And what merit is there in bringing Sulemana on when we’re 2, 3 or 4 down? Given where we are and how many points there are left to gain I’d rather we took a few risks early on and then hopefully get something to defend.

Would agree. The related issue is that he would need players intelligent enough to make the runs for him to feed. Very few - if any - are on that wavelength. Or suited to it. Adams is generally better with his back to goal and bringing in others or when he doesn’t have time or need to think, and Onuachu needs decent crosses. We’re not set up to have Lavia further forward. And then there’s the question of plugging the hole he would leave at DM….

If the response from everyone at the front around me was heard by Selles and the players - and their reaction when they timidly made an attempt to come over seemed to indicate it was - then there will be no doubt in the players’ minds what paying supporters thought of their collective ‘performance’…..

Difficult to assert as they've only gone down to 10 against one other team this season - Palace. Utd were already 2-0 up and still won the game. So not a bad point at all for us.

Respectfully disagree - come the end of the season that might prove be a very, very valuable point. And that's one goal conceded in 4 games under Selles, with 3 clean sheets. Lots to build on.

100% this. We can't control anybody else - "control the controllables" as NA would say - but we have done all that could be asked of us and more. Whatever happens for the rest of the season, whether we stay up or not, I felt like I got my club back today. Proud to be a Saint. Well done boys.

As I stated, I agree - they would not be anywhere near my team. But….Let’s just see what happens. If it goes to shit then he’ll get pelters for selecting those players. If it works, then fair play. But there’s nothing to be gained by judging it before the game’s played.

I think people need to calm down. Selles said to ‘draw no conclusions’ about the medium and longer terms from his selection today as he hasn’t had time to implement the changes he wants in just a week. Bednarek and Moi would be nowhere near my team today….but I’m parking that and seeing what happens this afternoon first.

But it is reasonable to say that JM - if this is true - was unrealistic in the extreme to expect a club in our position with our recent manager experience and with relegation an 80% probability to offer anything other than a short term contract.
