The most wonderful part of the afternoon was watching the faces of the Leicester ‘ultras’ next to our section as they left circa 88 minutes. They’d been revelling in the “Oh when the Saints go 9-0 down” chants all game so watching them slink away in near silence was sheer unadulterated joy….

That hat trick was in the game where Mark Hughes scored but the ref said it had gone wide. Replays clearly showed it was a goal. If only we’d had VAR in ‘97….

On an unrelated note….did anybody else in the Chapel see the former players’ names that have been added to the steps into the bowl? The name Mings (definitely Mings and not Ings) is on there - I checked today and he was an academy player at Saints in 2008 who never played a first team game for us. So why is he in there….?! 🤔

Indeed it did - almost a carbon copy of the first goal. And this is the issue - he doesn’t learn and he doesn’t - or can’t - improve.

Watch the first Leeds goal again - it’s Bednarek’s trademark: Rodrigo is moving into the area in front of JB who is utterly unaware of what’s going on around him, is static and who by the time he realises what’s going on it’s too late. He does it time and time again. This is not an isolated instance. If we are going to improve, he needs to be on the bench at best.

I’d say that’s a pretty fair summary of the first 45. Lavia has definitely grown into the game. Like how Aribo will chase back when he loses possession. Feel sorry for AA; not had a lot to go on. Keeper looks a significant upgrade.

Just rewatching the game. Redmond’s failure to track Eze for the equaliser - he literally watches him run into the space vacated by KWP who’d tucked in - was disgraceful.
