How long till we get a song for the Sheriff?
John Boy Saint replied to Wiggles31's topic in The Saints
Beat me to the question: I think I blinked and missed something. -
So WGS wasn't exaggerating when he told Sir Alex that Dion was magnificent one day in the changing rooms not long after Dublin joined the club.

That Eagle almost caused a comedy moment when we played there last Easter, the teams were being lead out by the Ref and his assistants as the Eagle was sent out on another fly past, being such a big bird on a short flight it had its flight plan for landing on the the other chaps hand worked out so it's approach arc took it straight towards the procession. The referee seeing such a massive bird flying towards him at suddenly took fright and stopped dead and the two lines of players nearly piled into the back of him and each other like pile up on the motorway!!

I recall Blackpool rocking up with a drum once and after 10 minutes they had it taken off them.

He did, he ran across, I thought it was, Cork just as he was about to loft it into the box it seemed distraction enough.

Licky Rambert did it to himself on that Crossbar challenge filmed at the Montjuic stadium in Barcelona recently, since he did it it does stick in your head a little bit.

Do we think MO PO will get the best out of Gaston ?
John Boy Saint replied to Saints boy in Leeds's topic in The Saints
I think Rodriguez has become the fly in the Ramirez ointment, probably even more so as with a Spanish father he will have a good command of the language. He seems a bit more at the races when he rotates into the "Ramirez" position. At the moment Ramirez doesn't seem to have the minerals for the Premier League, probably a bit miffed too that we the fans are not bowing down at his feet in adulation at his price tag alone. -
38 on the clock and this game is a turgid dirge, versus last nights extraviganza it is league 2 by comparison possibly even unibond league
-
In the Man U second half highlights on Sky the commentator said that Pep Guardiola commented that "you don't go looking for Pochettino's teams: they come looking for you!!". Last nights display illustrated that comment in bright red neon lights. Superb!

J-Rod was hanging at the end, but he worked like a dog the whole game. I must admit to play with that intensity for 97 minutes was very impressive, but there was a lot of intelligent making the ball do the work. 2 weeks before Newcastle on last nights performance we should be immense by then.

What a shame it was on ESPN as we don't all get to see a more balanced view from the atrocious BBC edit on Footie first. Johnathan Pearce also has spent far too much time with our fishy friends while we were away from the prem.

If you look at Citehs goal that came from Atkinson running across the line of sight of Cork just as he was about to lift it into the box he did this on more than one occasion.
-
Heard a variation on this too when the deal was announced, I think the more people that talk about this major fact the less confident football clubs will be to pull all our pants down and bend us over.
-
Maybe they have players who will pass a ball that he can run onto there, rather than all the passing behind him he got with us.

Walsh on Sky saying that Manure have had a bad half!!!!! Grrrrrrr!!
-
Sounded like we had a chuffing great big barn door wide open down our left
-
Wow! Sorry, but Walcott just spanked an absolute screamer!! Ooops distracted by the Tele.
-
So this turned out to be nowt
-
very nice goal that. 60Clicks Dyer the spawny little scrote did himself in that day, he rolled over so many times you would have thought he had been rolled off the edge of Portsdown hill (apologies for the bad language) in an effort to make sure Tahar was sent off.

Favorite memories at Old Trafford
John Boy Saint replied to fareham saint phil's topic in The Saints
Relegation season we had a Scandinavian Scarecrow playing for us who in his infinite wisdom though he would be wearing Gold boots for the occasion!!!!(FFS) But my best memory from that game was Rooney scored, then a few moment later some wag in amongst us Saints fans pulled a Shrek poster out from inside his jacket and unfurled it, all the Saints fans were pointing at it chanting "Rooney, Rooney!". All the Man U fans were staring at us in amazement, then this chap turned to show them the poster and the majority of them started doing the we are not worthy bow laughing at the same time. After losing 3-0 there ain't much you can take from a game. -
That was the wake up call Boruc needed, he was slow and cumbersome with little control of the box. Throwing a bottle into the crowd is not the best reaction from a footballer regardless. Fast forward to the Arsenal game and he was much leaner and mobile, but an attack of the butter fingers in the opening moments drew probably bigger sharp intakes of breath from the Kingsland than the Chapel......................................... Had all of these wobbles taken place at the Northam end, with the Northam being so über vociferous in their condemnation of all sorts with no victim unscathed, then couple to this the away fans singing dodgy keeper etc. it would have been interesting to see how he would have recovered from that on masse rather than a few groans.

As Lawrie Mac always said "A good team is made up of Violinists and Roadsweepers" without a doubt Telfer was a road-sweeper in that analogy. Took a very professional approach to his career, hence why he was so fit, I always thought he did alright for us and we have had far worse. Use to know a bloke through work who was a massive Coventry fan, and knew Telfer socially, he said Telfer never talked about football when they were out together either at a party or when they were out to dinner just with their Wives.

If we don't wear the White at Old Trafford...
John Boy Saint replied to adysaint's topic in The Saints
Oooo-errr! I resemble that remark!! But then when we go through the turnstiles something strange happens and us 40-50 somethings become immature teenagers again for a couple of hours, so I guess that makes it ok!! -
Thought QPR would be back in for him with Derry and Ferdinand on their way out of the door this weekend.
