Have you heard anyone in media / football saying Adkins should go?
John Boy Saint replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Gary Neville had it half way out of his mouth on Sky's MNF during the post match analysis and slammed it into reverse. -
Should have kept that Dan Harding fella!!

Blimey Lowe and his retirement home malarkey really has really brainwashed some of the plums on here, if you are an old fecker seems to be the Willy Wonker golden ticket for top billing on the team sheet, if you are a nipper you are no good er because you don't know as much as Mr Crusty.............. Thank god I am an old bugger, cos in some folks world I have a job to breeze into for years. Re Gazza: some of you winkles really need to do your research the bloke has already been playing first team football with Gilligham so he ain't fresh out of the player factory.

As fans we have had a great time these last few season, we have seen a winning side playing winning football, at times some of the football we have watched has been mesmerising. However the gulf between the championship and Premiership has be there to see, last year when teams got in our faces we wobble, this season every team is in your face for almost 90 minute, but like we saw second half against Villa get at teams and they are vulnerable too. Monday night the players look like they are in shock or still not believing they are playing in what is reputed to be the best league in the world, and at times playing in a dream like trance: go 1 or 2 goals down and still play at the same slow pace as if "we will wake up in an hour and it will all be over". There are players in the team who seem to know exactly where they are but are surrounded by those in this trance. Adkins is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders and as fans I think many of us would like to see the team share his burden. Adkins says training has been great but on the day so far it has gone awry. It would be shame if the cold bucket of water over the players as they wander round in their stupor is the departure of Nigel, but they really need to wake up and get a bit nasty, make a meal of getting tapped by an opposing player (Spurs were excellent at that) Adam Lallana needs to behave like a captain and get a bit nasty (in the right way to gee the players up) Hammond whilst deficient in some parts of his game didn't hold back in getting into the players to get them going. Sadly the players probably don't read this haven for wristslitters and the like, but if they did I would like them to wake up, treat Saturday as the first game of the season and play like they are capable of. In fact play like every scout for every great team in the world is watching them alone. Otherwise it's going to be a bloody long nightmare and if you ain't looking to be trying then no one is going to offer you and easy way out in January, and come May there will be a pay cut.............. This is it, yes you really are in the Premiership, that smell? Coffee. Wake and take what could be your only chance of tasting it every morning for the rest of your careers.

Appleton leaves the skates and joins Blackpool
John Boy Saint replied to NorthamSteve's topic in The Saints
I have to say I think it is a good move for him, he has been managing in a loony bin walks in, which some might think naive of him, and the club faceplant big time and he is haemoraging players through no fault of his own. This season he has been in charge of a bunch of Out of contract football wanderers given his lack of player options I am surprised they haven't been rock bottom of the table all season. Listening to him on Solent, obviously more so last season, in his post match interviews despite managing our arch rivals he always came across well, never seemed play on the sorry state of what was going on in the background. Good luck to the bloke be a bit different for Blackpool having worked under the fruitcake that is Ollie, now they go to the other end of the scale in being managed by Voldemort!! -
Personally I would put him ahead of Seaborne, he is intelligent enough, and the times he came in cold last season he wasn't too shabby. Playing time is what he needs without doubt.............. But then how many folks have said the same about Boruc............ I am obviously missing something.

Always look on the bright side of life We will be in Europe next season....................... If there is a war. Just maybe today's results added to tomorrows might just be the kick up the Jacksy we need.

I expect the money is a massive factor, goes to Chelsea plays well gets stalked by Cashley Cole learns he can get a monster wage just to train, WB happy his agent is happy, clubs come knocking possibly but don't come up with the weekly wage to tempt him away. Man city rock up with a nice contract with nice money why not move on for another 4 years of security. Again he becomes a bench warmer then just a trainer on £80k a week, teams come knocking but why move on if you are guaranteed £80k for the next X years to stay where you are and they ain't prepared to pay that kind of money. Probably also seen his best mate Beattie just fizzle out, and thinks that will happen to me so lets just ride the wave I am on. I would imagine the drive he had with us has dimmed, through being benched for so long and going out on loan on full pay just breaks the tedium. It certainly would be interesting if he did turn up back at Saints as romantically you would hope it might just re kindle the fire.

Does anyone have an update on Ramirez fitness?
John Boy Saint replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
Perhaps he has no domestic ability so hotel living might be right up his Strasse. -
The bottom line is that we have reached the Premiership ahead of the schedule put in place when ML & NC took over, a friend who went to a Cortese dinner last year said that it is not the end of the world if we do not go up this season. It was also stated that Adkins was always on the top of the list when Pardew left the building, and that Markus wanted Pardew out yet Cortese (who had been painted as Evil in the media) defended Pardew's position to stay. So maybe we are all a little uneasy as the way of the media is "lost 4 in 5...... He's sacked" (funny how Ben from Eastenders at Reading seems to be missing the sack race attention), there is always a chance that NC is actually looking at the bigger picture and is prepared to let his manager fight his way out of the current predicament seeing as he got us to the promised land. It would make a pleasant change not to follow the media sacking playbook.

Wasn't he on Soccer AM on Saturday promoting his own brand of Hooch, which had Hells Bells and the bloke fumbling their words for a moment after a little trial snifter.

Does make you scratch your head a little as I didn't think he was too shabby between the sticks. I think Kelvin has demons from his past foray in the Prem lurking between his ears, and comments re Boruc that he was a bit rusty at Wet Spam and needed game time makes you wonder whatever did Gazza do wrong......... Blimey they have only just released his poster in the shop so Leighton won't be happy. Hopefully the little spat from the Chapel in his direction might spur Boruc on to up his game rather than relaxing in the knowledge that he is number 1 very quickly and his biggest threat has been sent out on loan..
-
Hmmmmm I wonder if he would have been quite so brave in the 70's & 80's even with crowd fences? Fast reactions from matey on the mike to throw a bucket of water on the situation, his heart must have ceased and breathing stopped for what felt like half an hour as he saw what the nipper did!! i

No one can think of a replacement beyond crooked 'Arry and the fat Spanish waiter. Stick with him there are still worse teams than us in this league. I would take so much pleasure if we see out this storm and in 10 Yeats time Adkins is still in charge and we are a force in the premiership.

At half time it did cross my mind as it looks like I have been rallying in it. Sorry but the bloke is crap, I would far rather have a slightly green with little fear nipper in between the sticks with good distribution than someone who stands far too long on the line and very little communication with the defence. regarding the bottle incident he could have done better to prevent the goal, it was out of order throwing the bottle. But for the Über fans slagging us in the Chapel, Boruc collected the ball in th box and the majority in the chapel and the Chapel end of Kingsland sarcastically clapped and cheered to which he Clapped back. Those planks who say "give him a few games" wake up we ain't a charity there was nowt wrong with Gazza except a crap defence in front of him.

I had a double glazing salesman call me one night, saying my wife had said to call when I was home. When I had politely said no he got the ar$e and hung up. I did 1471 and the silly whatsits hadn't blocked their number. So being in sales myself I told him how un professional he was and if I was interested in windows in the future his. Company would be bottom of the list from now on. I also had Mrs Gupta on the phone the night Saints had survived the siege of Elland road last season, I was still buzzing and inebriated having demolished the best part of a bottle of wine while cooking a late dinner. Just as I was about to sit down to eat the phone rang, "Hello this is xxxxx" "bla bla bla, can you go to your computer as you have a virus". I just replied " I don't have a bloody virus, my computer is not bloody switched on, and who's idea was it for you to phone at 9:30 on a Saturday bloody night???!". "tell you what let me speak to your supervisor right now!!!". At which she hung up: diner and the second bottle of wine tasted mighty sweet after that.

Be good if I did forget because then I would have loads of time spare in the queue for the best Slavic car wash in Basingstoke before picking up my mate: car looks like its been in a Rally!!!

Harry Redknapp to be named manager within 3 weeks
John Boy Saint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Stunning isn't it absolutely chuff all gets uttered in public from within the walls of SMS, we even have multi page posts featuring the guessing game of what is actually happening with the smallest of stuff on here. Some hack with nowt going on, figures Saints are in trouble manager must be under threat, Hey Redknapp is floating about: Redknapp and Saints ooh now that will be a bit spicy, hmmmmm when will it happen 3 more losses time er-um ah 3 weeks. Instantly we have the "we are all going to die" scene in Airplane being reinacted before our eyes on here!! Amazingly there are 2 clubs who are yet to win a game in the prem. Arry has also been tipped as in Mark Hughes shoes by Christmas................. Poor old Ben from Eastenders must be really upset not touted for the sack as much as Adkins and Hughes and no mention of good old Arry replacing him by last Wednesday week. Cortese might be a bit cold, but I wouldn't have him down as being totally stupid. -
The lunatics have finally taken over the asylum
John Boy Saint replied to CB Saint's topic in The Lounge
There won't be anyone in the building to tell anyone that and earthquake is coming because they have all been convicted and lost their jobs. -
Sad to see the object of your adolescent desires pass away. Health & Efficiency with its black and white images was saucy enough, the birth of Video tape to bring Sylvia Krystal into your front room while your Ma & Pa were out, that just blew your mind. RIP Sylvia................... And thank you!!

Trouble is Fox forgets he is playing football and thinks he is having an amble down the park looking at the trees and sky and not the Dog turd he is about to step in = the winger that's about to sweep past him.

Bottom line is that 4-3-3 or variations of exposes the back 4 as we are playing against players who will exploit the acres of space that we give them, putting the defence under pressure. Personally I would put the experiment on ice and play 4-5-1 and park the bus shut down the leakage get some draws to keep the tally clicking over and build a bit of confidence when the confidence has returned then dabble with the 4-3-3 or whatever. As things stand we are going start crossing the line at 3pm beaten already. I would gladly take a clutch of turgid 0-0's through us just shutting up shop, and re instilling confidence.

Gazza worked straight out of the box, now there is a big herd of sheep on here who the moment he walked through the door these nitwits declared that Boruc should be straight into the first team "cos Gazza is young what does he know". If Boruc was such a superstar keeper he would not have been a free agent! Kelvin seems to have the demons of Sunderland lurking. Of the 3 of them and looking at the results of the games he has been in (and this is a results based business) Gazza has only had 1, 3, & 2 goals put past him. Today reports said Boruc looked rusty!! Like I started Gazza worked straight out of the box, stick him back in.

I was only looking at the 1976 FA Cup programme all wrapped up at £75 on the wall in ther the other week. The policy at this club with small but traditional niches is like living in the countryside in China, the state sends in a bulldozer to put a road through your front room and there ain't nowt you can do about it. There was something on the radio today about how fans get the stinky end of the stick, a bloke on there said that the TV deal next year is so huge that clubs could reduce their match day ticket prices by £32 and still make the same as they will this year! If someone truly believes that turning the Programme shop into another food bar is going to improve the match day experience, they are severely misguided. Pie & Pint deal makes the matchday experience a little sweeter, taking that away too just makes me feel like my trousers are heading to my ankles a bit quicker than it felt under Mr Lowe.
