  1. Blimey! I just noticed on the Beeb weather next 24hrs that a plague of Locusts will desend on the pitch in the SO14 area at 15:30 today eating every blade of grass before buzzing off! It has been raining in fits and starts since around midnight last night, the ground is as dry as a bone so most of it has run off, the only time that a game has been called off due to rain at SMS was following weeks of wet weather culminating in a day of persistent heavy rain coupled with a high tide that slowed the run off from the drains. When Japan played Nigeria a few years back at SMS you would have thought we had been transferred to a Monsoon region and the game still carried on............... I think too many folks on here have spent too long in this division going to away games where the pitches look like a potato field from the 2nd week of the season, and been used for all in mud wrestling to get some more money in on the Friday night before a game. Half time we will have the sprinklers on. Update from Auntie Beeb: 17:00 it will be raining Frogs!!............ So bring a stout brolly!!!
  2. Not quite Lincolnshire based, but our house has just gone on the market and the first folks to walk through the door on a viewing were folks living in Spain who want to buy to rent and the husband is a Saints fan who has come over for the Walsall game!!
  3. I would say Huddersfield deserve it but, It would be excellent for 4 South Coast clubs to be in the NPC.
  4. Their tickets do include a set number of Champions League, FA Cup/league cup games, however should they get a good run of home games in the cups the following year the price of the "free" games are collected upon renewal. I had customers who were regulars at Highbury with season tickets, I paid them a visit one morning to be greeted by long faces as they had just had to stump up £1200+ as Arsenal had enjoyed a good run of home games in the cups the previous season: that must have been 8 or 9 years ago!!!
  5. The pipe cleaner served there will have you up and down like whores drawers all through the first half!!
  6. Yawn! nothing new in us being rivals, in our very early days as a team Plymouth were our p*mpey in those days.
  7. Cripes I sit in the Chapel, I had better blow the dust off my "how to be a Saints fan book"!! Like 70's Mike & Toomer I grew up on the Milton when it was a proper Terrace (and learned all my extensive bad language there).
  8. I like the Billy Big Bo11ox "I am on the pitch either at Home Park or SMS, sod the rules" on here. As it is criminal offence Hampshire Constabulary could very easily get who you are and where you live from the "owners" of this website, and next Saturday in particular you could be requested to present yourself to a police station at 3pm, or worse still 4:30pm.
  9. Planning and preparation saw my tickets secured in my usual seat weeks ago.
  10. I would say at 00:36 on Saturday morning yesterday was a bloody good day for UK Plc. God Save the Queen
  11. Hard to pick one from those already mentioned above, Oxo's cheeky double chip from a silly angle to score 2 (plus giving the ball back to the ref with pace catching him unawares). My real moment(s) are the periods of delicious footballing passing prowess we display in so many games this season, I have sat there so many times this season pinching myself to check that It really is my Southampton out on the pitch.
  12. He had a mare, the ball went out from a Saints pass by about 4 ft and the lino kept his flag down Rickie ran after it Pool players were having a tantrum, and I think Rickie ran out of steam because him and most of the left side of the Chapel we giggling as a result>
  13. Having swapped a signed shirt for Magic Football boots, Frazer wishes he had agreed to a photo with the dealer in return for the instruction book!
  14. Like I have said before, I am quite happy with us being under the radar for the moment. That said with this being the first TV show since Brighton were made champions you would have thought they would have given the game more coverage, and even more so the fact that we piddled on their parade. Nice the Spirites got the Champions treatment, that must have smarted for B&H fans!!!!
  15. Would be very nice, especially as being a Bank Holiday Monday we have a full compliment of the John Boy Family out on a grand day out, which is a treat in itself these days.
  16. I would go forward to tomorrow morning having borrowed Harry Potters invisability cloak get into Brightons dressing room and put a powerful laxative in their refreshments.
  17. At the end of the day what if Markus liked the club badge and its significance, and specified that it shouldn't be changed too much when the 125 year badge designs passed across his desk for rubber stamping?
  18. Really? You want that waste of space BWP back here??!! He was as useful as a one legged man in an @rse kicking contest, yes he scored some goals, but he was more frustrating a player than one of note.
  19. My girls were 5 & 6 for their first game, a pre season friendly at the Dell. First season at St Marys when they were 6 & 7 we went quite often and they seemed entertained enough. Sweets drinks etc seemed to cover the lulls in the games. We also signed them up into Junior Saints which gave them that little extra being part of something when they went to games. They very quickly became keen as Mustard for Saints games, knowing the players, asking to stay after or getting to the ground early to get the players autographs........................... My eldest at 9 did give me a moment of embarrassment (and a degree of pride at the same time) when playing p*mpey in the league cup, lots of the boys from the "naughty words end of the ground" had been redistributed around SMS so when the p*mpey chimes struck up and the response from Saints fans came back: she is stood on her seat in the family stand shouting " f off p*mpey - p*mpey f off!". You know your kids, don't force them, be a bit flexible and expect them to be be bored: my youngest spent more time looking at the crowd than the football at the beginning.
  20. Don't worry Nige, I'll look after him in the car park while no one is looking.
  21. I thought with St Marys for nearly the last 10 years we would have edged past the blue few down the road by more than 5 people before now. Glossop North End At 119 was a surprise, my sister lives in Glossop and we went with them to the FA Vase final a few years back, it wasn't until I read their friend who writes for the Guardian's book that Glossop North End were once a big player in the early days of Football. The Hill Woods the owners of Arsenal, were the Beneficiaries of Glossop until they went south with all readies they made in cotton and the milling of. Sorry to digress
  22. I thought fighting to stay in the league was torture enough, but I have forgotten how fighting to go the other way is just as nerve racking. There was a lot of frustration in Guly's strike he knew that he wasn't having his best game so putting that away seemed to have quite a lot behind it. The lack of common sense award goes to the booking Forte picked up for catching the ball as it was about to go out over his head, yes it's the letter of the law but come on. A word in his ear was all that was needed.
  23. Although a tad late, has this been touted on the Gas fans website? As I would imagine that with cut backs Bristol Children with Heart conditions would more than likely be sent to Southampton, so regardless of shirt colours they should be encouraged to sign too.
  24. Jumping on the thread deviation band wagon, when I was at School there was a notorious School in Basingstoke full of mental cases, my school was out in the country. One day this school played our School at Rugby ( sorry to swear) they turned up all we are hard and you are country half wits, they left at full time on the bus quick smart with their rugby kit still on. Strangely when you met that schools pupils in town afterwards and they tried to intimidate you, when they found out what school you went to strangely they would become very wary................ Thankfully.
