  1. The bloke is a Giant Redwood in our defence, and every game recently we have been treated to the Radhi Jaidi show with all his tricks and skills. When you see the array of players in our team Raidhi is the one player who increasingly puts a smile on your face. Last night when he chased that poor Charlton player to the Northam corner, the poor chap must have felt that he was being hunted down by a Bear.
  2. I could settle for a tad less! Forte's loopy 2 minutes whipped up the crowd for the remainder of the game capped with Barney slotting the winner..................... I was buzzing for ages on Saturday evening: Not the best for a work night!!
  3. +1 Some folks must be watching another game Butterfields crossfield balls consistently find a Saints player, invariably bringing the crowds favourite, Lallana into play in space created by the sudden switch of play. Fonte (who many accuse of hoofing aimlessly) try's the same ball and normally over plays it, that's why knowing this Fonte passes the ball to Butterfield to execute the pass instead of him. Butterfield might not be the most glamourous of players, but it always comes back to Lawrie Mac's team analogy: "A good team is made up of roadsweepers and Violinists".
  4. Arsenal are getting a statue of Quiz show favourite Jim Bowen complete with his famous strapline "Look what you could have won!?".
  5. Surprised that a recent song sang by many in SMS about our then chairman swinging from a local bridge has not seen his name included in the list so far.
  6. Smell my finger it's just been up Rickies bum while he was not looking................. Lee! Lee! Lee! Stop running I want a lick!! (Rickie: What the bloody hell was that???!!!!!???
  7. Hey that's a bona fido reason, you knew you had a busy evening but still made the effort to watch the game. This is not a who's the bestest Saints fan point scoring thread, it's just bizarre to be in the last few minutes of a game that could still go either way (we scored 2 in 2 minutes), and folks are on their toes heading for the exits. Yes it's a free country and they can do what they want............... But if you intend to go early get your stuff together (and your entourage too) then make your move and get out of everyone elses way quickly not stopping for a discussion about what to have for tea on the way out, or any other social ambling chit chat................... Or worse of all stopping and standing halfway down the steps because we have a chance building just outside the box!!
  8. Hmmmmmm bet his garden is looking very nice at the moment...........................Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
  9. I have a customer who was on the books at Villa (and had played in youth teams against Shearer Wallace and Le Tissier) who blew his chance in pro Football because of a girl!! (sorry deviation). If you bought a programme today the anorak stats page in there has a little box at the bottom that asks how many goals would you have missed if you left 10 minutes before the end of the game........... in League One this season the answer is 206!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 207 if you include Bournemouth last night.
  10. I know this subject comes up on here from time to time so here goes because I am at a loss..................... Today's game was a marvellous spectacle, which became compelling viewing to the final whistle. MK Dons are not on our tails by chance, we were 3-2 up, with such a glorious feast of football before our eyes and the race for the finishing line hotting up, from 85 minutes there were lots of people going home............... Why??!!!! What is the rush, Coventry Colin had a valid excuse (posted elsewhere), what else was there to see at 4.45 on a Saturday evening. I could swear Rickie Lambert stood for a moment in a brief lull in the games latter minutes staring into the crowd with a look of amazement at the early leavers. Answers below please................. because I just don't get it!!
  11. Hood up............... 2nd and 4th touch, he lost the ball with his first Hood down Anorak off! That aside I was really hoping that he would get a quick chance for a third and break the fastest hat-trick record. Those 2 goals will do him the world of good,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Well done
  12. Forte.................. he is the Messiah!!
  13. Yooouuu Will now lay on the pitch and pretend that I have hurt you to con the referee. or I am compared to a giant Redwood in defence: this is my possessed by the mighty trees face.
  14. Wow!! what a banging game, stung twice against the run of play then 11 + 22,000 dug deep and pulled the Rabbit out of the hat. Nigel Adkins programme notes said "Yes its going to be edge of your seat, fingernail biting, heart racing stuff" and finishes with "an emotional roller-coaster awaits your positive support will make the difference. Hold on tight and believe to achieve". Blimey Nige thats the first of ten remaining games: I will spontaneously combust if they are all like that!! Like a few others I am exhausted but elated after todays game, but so pleased we have the minerals to get a result when we have previously crumbled. All thanks to our Jonny on the spot. Nigel I am locked into my seat and my arms might stay (not) inside the carriage at all times.
  15. My worry in the back of my mind are the 2 final games v the Pilgrims and Warsaw both are probably still going to be fighting for their lives to stay in the division, and anyone who went to Walsall in particular the other week will know that they have a bit of a siege mentality and are prepared to, metaphorically, die for the cause. Results v Rochdale, Charlton, & Plymouth have to be taken advantage of without the pressure these in hand games the players seem to put themselves under.
  16. I really should cancel my subscription until BT extract a digit and get my broadband up to a speed that can support this service. at 576 I am stupidly piddling money up the wall.
  17. Always happy when Martin is in the team, he has a bloody big mouth in defence barking out orders and is very capable, the more he plays the better he will become: guys like Chez need to consider the few games he has had compared to Jaidhi & Fonte before mithering about him. Compared to Seaborne you sure don't see him getting nervous as the half way line looms closer like the border between North & South Korea.
  18. If you wish to miss 5 minutes of a half to get your pies or get out before the rush, that's your choice. In doing so bloody well get on and go rather than having a mothers meeting blocking others view while you amble downstairs.
  19. Always pleased when its Oscar coming on, as he is a very competent, and increasingly combative player, and does nothing stupid. The moaners on here who know so much about football really should go and get a job in football then come on here and pontificate about a nipper who is doing alright. The lad is only 20, he is tall and gangly and has just really come out of his awkward growing age which does not help some lads. Just because he has not exploded onto the scene like Oxo or Theo in their teens, does not make him a crap player who will not make it above our current level.
  20. Very curious that everywhere else he plays he manages to keep his shots down, whereas with us uncle Charlies false teeth were in danger sat in row ZZ from his shots in the 6 yard box.
  21. Wiseman was secretary of the FA or similar post.
  22. I am Sparticus!
  23. The ref in the Colchester v Saints game had a tricky decision to make, when he had never read what to do in the case of heavy on pitch petting..................... " do I blow the whistle like they do down the swimming baths??".
  24. That and not being aggressive enough when not in possession of the ball, being too slow to close down at times, sitting too deep, and taking 3 weeks to get the ball back into play from Kelvins hands..................... that last bit drives me up the wall: watching him check everyone from both sides is in their correct position before kicking out, regardless of Harding, Lallana, or even Rickie saying that they want the ball quickly. Anyway if we smash and grab automatic on the last day................. I'll go along for the ride: given the journey that we have been on in recent years.
  25. Likely to be shot down in flames, but I feel less than inspired by our current on field captain. We see the odd flash of eagerness and hearty tackle, but I feel that at times he looks laboured and unaware of being closed down by opposition players more than once. I can't recall the last time he was MOTM, which is what I would hope a captain to be in the running for every game, those around him get a comment on the drive home. As FF already alluded to we do need a leader on the pitch, not an often invisible captain.
