My girls were 5 & 6 for their first game, a pre season friendly at the Dell. First season at St Marys when they were 6 & 7 we went quite often and they seemed entertained enough. Sweets drinks etc seemed to cover the lulls in the games. We also signed them up into Junior Saints which gave them that little extra being part of something when they went to games. They very quickly became keen as Mustard for Saints games, knowing the players, asking to stay after or getting to the ground early to get the players autographs........................... My eldest at 9 did give me a moment of embarrassment (and a degree of pride at the same time) when playing p*mpey in the league cup, lots of the boys from the "naughty words end of the ground" had been redistributed around SMS so when the p*mpey chimes struck up and the response from Saints fans came back: she is stood on her seat in the family stand shouting " f off p*mpey - p*mpey f off!". You know your kids, don't force them, be a bit flexible and expect them to be be bored: my youngest spent more time looking at the crowd than the football at the beginning.

I thought with St Marys for nearly the last 10 years we would have edged past the blue few down the road by more than 5 people before now. Glossop North End At 119 was a surprise, my sister lives in Glossop and we went with them to the FA Vase final a few years back, it wasn't until I read their friend who writes for the Guardian's book that Glossop North End were once a big player in the early days of Football. I thought fighting to stay in the league was torture enough, but I have forgotten how fighting to go the other way is just as nerve racking. There was a lot of frustration in Guly's strike he knew that he wasn't having his best game so putting that away seemed to have quite a lot behind it. The lack of common sense award goes to the booking Forte picked up for catching the ball as it was about to go out over his head, yes it's the letter of the law but come on. A word in his ear was all that was needed.

Although a tad late, has this been touted on the Gas fans website? As I would imagine that with cut backs Bristol Children with Heart conditions would more than likely be sent to Southampton, so regardless of shirt colours they should be encouraged to sign too.

Jumping on the thread deviation band wagon, when I was at School there was a notorious School in Basingstoke full of mental cases, my school was out in the country. One day this school played our School at Rugby ( sorry to swear) they turned up all we are hard and you are country half wits, they left at full time on the bus quick smart with their rugby kit still on. Strangely when you met that schools pupils in town afterwards and they tried to intimidate you, when they found out what school you went to strangely they would become very wary................ Thankfully.

I must have inadvertently found the rational filter in error! Having flicked through all 3 pages the moaners and wrist slitters seem to missing. Most of the posts seem to be quite level headed........................ Like the team we have been knocked on our backsides, so lets dust ourselves down and climb back on. As for Rochdale they have had good momentum for the last 2 seasons, and are on a charge of their own.

Anything is possible in Football: they have just lost their captain for the next 3 games for a straight red. They know that 3 points has them over the finish line promoted, there alone are 2 little triggers that could cause anything to happen in the minds of their players till the end of the season. I have a mate who has been a Blackpool fan all his life, earlier this season the chat was that they only needed 4 wins to almost certainly secure another season in the prem, I said getting through 30 points would be a hurdle, then from 35 to 40. Now what looked like a breeze of a hurdle with games to spare is a massive wall for them............ How Brighton view the final hurdle we will just have to wait and see: I can't see them stumbling, Poyet (who made Wise look better than he proved to be in management) will not let it happen.

I think many of us with Saints scars are like this, although not quite as nervous. I always felt that supporting Saints sets you in good stead for the up's and downs of life in general. At the moment whilst enjoying the bus trip, one eye is constantly on the road ahead looking for the nail destined for the tyres! That's what happens when you live through the longest slow motion car crash in history, from relegation from the prem until the takeover.

I am quite happy we do not get mentioned too much, I much prefer to lurk under the radar without the pressure of the media hulla-balloo. Get into second dig in and stay there.

Had someone kick my Achilles a few years back chuffin hurt for weeks! Although the only difference was I was not "shut down as a precaution". I liked that line, it's almost like the dressing room at SMS is now dressed like the Nebuchadnezzar in The Matrix!!
