  1. I don’t know. Why would the Premier League clubs agree to that?
  2. If they want to extend the playoffs then do it by increasing the number of promoted teams so third place is an automatic place and four teams go up/go down. 4th-7th in the playoffs.
  3. They did have a bigger margin to spend which helps. They started their rebuild a couple of seasons back and had a good core of young talent with some older wise heads, didn’t spend much until this season. It seems easier to reset in league one, to help leap up to the premier league! 🤔 They do have a bigger squad now, so depending on where they are at end of the season will have to sell before buying.
  4. Just outside the playoffs
  5. Benitez is still available and looking to get back into the English game (telegraph interview today).
  6. Not fair to the fans of the championship clubs.
  7. They will improve but they also have some potential big holes to fill from last season. I just hope Godfrey plays against us and we actually target him, but knowing our luck he’ll not be in the lineup or be a CB in a back five.
  8. That’s the trouble if the rules aren’t written properly and completely. Plenty of wriggle room and the difference between the spirit of the law and the actuality of them.
  9. Depends if the wingers can get the ball in behind the defenders for Archer to run onto. Nice to have the choice but to do so, the transition needs to be faster so the defenders are playing catch up, currently most of the time moving the ball upfield is slow and the defenders are already set.
  10. Everyone loves a bandwagon to jump on. Looking forward to seeing his development, promising signs, which hopefully means other midfielders will raise their own game and also gives more options to change things around. The midfield is the key battleground I feel.
  11. At what cost? OK, not everything can be laid at his door but to not realise the physicality, speed and passing ability would be at a higher level was so naive.
  12. Kind of agree, I think we still have some limited players which should have been expected, but perhaps are finding things a bit more difficult to adapt their game to the quick pace and ball control needed to progress it up the pitch for the crosses to be delivered behind the defence for the forwards to run onto (like Murphy showed for them). clearly Jander is an intelligent footballer and I see him partnering Charles when he has more training sessions under his belt. In his short cameo, he’s shown he can move into good positions to receive the ball rather than it be recycled and slow things down.
  13. When do we play them? They have some decent players but not for the system they are currently using. Best two attacking players starting on the bench.
  14. BBD didn’t do well in the international break, missed a few good chances for Chile 🇨🇱 against Uruguay 🇺🇾. Especially the header.
  15. If they want to change anything then increasing the number of promotions/relegation places would be an interesting idea.
  16. Not for this season but could be the following one… The English Football League is in talks over adding an eliminator round to the Championship playoffs and increasing the number of participants from four to six. The proposal is a similar format to the one used by the National League. In the Championship the team that finish fifth would play the eighth-placed team and sixth would meet seventh in one-off ties at the higher-ranked team’s home stadium.

  18. Not really a punishment then. I’d be happy to take that from being promoted.
  19. Agree about missing a player like Case. Been like that for a few seasons. Case was fantastic and a favourite. As to judging the window, you can assess it multiple times through the season, obviously limited now but it seems good business considering the amount of change that was required and having to stay on the right side of PSR, not spending too much while cutting squad costs. All seems reasonable (on paper), defensive solidity and finishing seem to be areas of slight concern.
  20. Some are UEFA sponsored gliders. Off set the carbon.
  21. So how many of the squad are away on international duty?
  22. From news reports: Rangers’ American owners met the squad yesterday and made plain they had complete faith in Russell Martin, who will not be going anywhere. By mid afternoon, how clever will that look? Part of the intrigue here is that people based in the US do not have to encounter the direct noise of Scotland. It feels easier for them to stick with a beleaguered manager.
  23. Wrexham scored in 90+18. Match lasted 90+20.
  24. All seemed a bit frantic in the second half with some sloppy passes and positioning. Midfield was weak again and hopefully the new signings will help in changing the formation and providing some much needed control in the middle of the pitch. Watford have a decent side, I wouldn’t be surprised if they make the play-offs.
  25. Watford seem to run out of steam in the second half, conceding late goals and not scoring any. …so expect a come back from the home team. 🤪
