  1. There are already interested parties so let’s see what happens.
  2. He’s willing to stay even when we go down.
  3. Mostly owned by one man so not really a fair competition.
  4. Playing catch up from four seasons of under investment was never easy and to then focus on young up and coming players is always high risk strategy as we are finding out. It seems SR are not worried about relegation and the recruitment strategy will remain the focus. But I would have thought it would have been a better learning environment to have a Leno, Mee and a Romeu (or replacement) to help integrate the younger players to the harsh reality of the PL.
  5. Why the rush? He’s not exactly going anywhere. I think with this limited squad and certain players out, he selected the right players in the correct formation. Let’s see if he can get the players to repeat the performance especially when he has all the squad to choose from. Signs are positive and we’re getting an identity back in the team.
  6. Head injury to Chelsea player Azpilicueta
  7. Not a lot it seems, excuses, needs time, more excuses etc it seems like they can’t or don’t register Nathan’s lack of personal skills or what they would call emotional intelligence!
  8. Can you complete your sentence with what season you’re talking about. Thanks.
  9. This is Nathan’s crusade, to lead the Saints to salvation and away from the damnation of relegation!
  10. It just seems that they are in for the long term (for now) which hast altered their strategy with the team being in the relegation zone. If we are relegated, I cannot see the approach changing, obviously we will lose key players but if finances are not an issue they don’t need to go cheaply at least and there could be potential for young players to perform well at that level eg Tella, Obafemi, and others prior to the past couple of seasons. But again, as long as there are some experienced players in the squad.
  11. Lampard has been fired. Let’s see who they bring considering their FFP restrictions.
  12. Yess!
  13. Leicester winning now.
  14. We will not stick to a system, the idea is to be flexible to counter or cause problems on how the opposition set up. we don’t have enough high quality players (yet) to deliver on a particular system, this is one of many reasons why Ralph moved away from his favoured 4-2-2-2 and wanted to play a back five for more defensive protection. expect to see a number of systems being deployed in the game, this is the fluidity Jones was referring to in one of his last interviews. Also seems one of the reasons why it’s taking time to settle and the ‘pre-season’ didn’t seem to be effective with lack of game time the key.
  15. Yes…. A win! Away! At Goodson!
  16. Nice to win it but after the Man City game I’m thinking as long as we have enough games to get points the opposition doesn’t matter too much. Only that the team continues to improve we have a chance.
  17. To clarify, Law of averages does not exist and regression to the mean is a bias when dealing with repeated data so not something to take ‘advantage’ of.
  18. There isn’t a law of averages and regression to the mean is a characteristic when sampling or taking repeated data and there is a possible bias caused rather than an observed change. The bias can be reduced or eliminated through study design and the correct statistical methodology.
  19. How would you like to be buggered sir… with a fish fork?
  20. Just need to point out there isn’t a law of averages. So it makes your argument invalid on that point. Brentford may have followed similar principles but certainly with less risk and gung-ho nature. A guy that knows about risk is Tony Bloom and his strategy for a middling PL club is working out well. They have a great scouting network to regions that are not heavily exploited by PL clubs, player and staff succession planning and he knows how to maximise player value. Obviously not all players work out, but Brighton work with data to increase the likelihood of a favourable outcome. I don’t know what they do on the behaviour side but would love to find out. However, footballers being human rather than just a set of numbers mean playing football manager in place of the real thing is plain nuts. Data can only be trusted as much as the process used to collect them and used with caution in going beyond it.
  21. But didn't Ralph have a good calendar year before that? Anyway, the summer was the point to either back him or sack him and they did neither.
  22. Like driving a car, when you first drive you are consciously incompetent and you go through varies stages until you are unconsciously competent and it becomes second nature.
  23. I hope the fans start using this depreciating humour rather than booing. It’s time they started enjoying themselves having gone to the game. Besides, Hard to boo a shower of shit of a team with a clueless manager in charge.
