  1. They've already said they'll vote on the NHS.
  2. There could be a scenario where Scotland set their own competitive tax rates and then veto the rest of the UK doing the same thing. Scottish mps should not have any say in issues that are devolved to their own parliament.
  3. You've got to wonder how they worked out this will accrue £1.2 bn for the NHS as they can't explain how it will work.
  4. There's always the possibility the a government can't be formed and we vote again.
  5. shocking... http://www.laurenshope.com/
  6. because you don't simply pay for the housing, there is a continuing cost for upkeep that needs to be involved. The higher the amount of social housing, the higher the yearly cost of upkeep.
  7. except legal precedent has them as "public authorities" http://hrlc.org.au/r-weaver-v-london-and-quadrant-housing-trust-2008-ewhc-1377-admin-24-june-2008/ well to work out a discount, I presume you need to know a market value to apply that discount too.
  8. So we should believe that once you're in a council house or housing property association house you should stay there and pay under the market rate for ever? Leaving councils and housing associations to pick up the tab for upkeep and repairs when those houses and that money should go to the people who actually need the housing instead?
  9. They are houses used to horse people on lower than the market rate. It makes no odds if they are run by the Council or housing associations. People who can afford better should be moved out of the social housing system. It's noted where the money will come from to ensure the housing associations get the market rate for any of their list housing stock... Or do we just keep people on waiting lists for houses.
  10. The whole point of right to buy, is you get the people who can afford a mortgage into a mortgage. Take the cash from the house sale to build a new council house. And house someone who needs social housing. Sadly we have to incentivize the movement onto a mortgage but as long as new social housing is built, it sounds good to me.
  11. http://order-order.com/2015/04/14/labour-manifesto-author-backs-tory-right-to-buy-policy/#_@/k-SLCc9zI5JKFw Worth a read.
  12. http://www.kingsfund.org.uk/press/press-releases/our-response-labour-party-election-manifesto Responding to the publication of the Labour Party’s election manifesto, Chris Ham, Chief Executive of The King’s Fund, said: ‘Labour’s manifesto outlines a positive vision for a 21st century health and care system based on much closer integration of health and social care. It also marks a decisive break with the policies of the recent past in its rejection of markets and competition. ‘It is hard to see how Labour’s plans to dismantle the Health and Social Care Act could be achieved without disruptive structural changes to the NHS. Proposals to bring services and budgets together at a local level are welcome, although we question whether health and wellbeing boards could play the leadership role envisaged. ‘The big question is about funding, with Labour now the only one of the three main parties not to have pledged to find the £8 billion a year in additional funding called for in the NHS five year forward view. Given this is the minimum requirement if the NHS is to continue to meet patient needs and maintain standards of care, this leaves a significant gap at the heart of its plans. Labour is also the only one of the main parties not to have endorsed the programme for change outlined in the Forward View. ‘Pledges to improve the quality of home care and implement the cap on the costs of social care first proposed by the Dilnot Commission are welcome. However, although a growing social care crisis is identified as one of the biggest challenges facing the next government, there is no commitment to increase social care funding.’
  13. " Labour will ban exploitative zero-hours contracts. Those who work regular hours for more than 12 weeks will have a right to a regular contract."
  14. The current budget is the overall budget excluding capital spending on investment. Ie they can spend lots and still pretend they are balancing the books.
  15. It's widely accepted that the Lib Dems vetoed any inheritance tax change in the last parliament. In fact Danny Alexander said he did just that.
  16. The thing with Labour budget lock is that it refers to the "current budget". Which is a whole lot different from the overall budget.
  17. The labour manifesto pledges to ban "exploitative zero hours contracts". They've got enough wriggle room to find non exploitative ones and not ban then all.
  18. Thankfully the Tories are 6 points ahead in the latest ICM poll so I hopefully won't have to worry anyway. And also watching the TUSC on the Daily politics, I get the point now.
  19. Okay they are as left as they have been in my lifetime..... Does that suffice?
  20. The unions generally hold the country to ransom, and try to bleed it dry, yes.
  21. Yes to the people who actually pay into the economy and help the country run. Yes.
  22. Xbox ones rrp is now officially £299.
  23. If an ex socialist labour supporter like Martin Freeman has gone to them, then they have steered themselves far left. Not to mention that, they are once again completely beholden to the unions.
  24. Labour are certainly not in the middle ground. They are almost full blown socialists at the moment.
