There was no fight. Apart from one or two older Charlton fellas, the rest looked as though they were more than happy to be put back in the ground (not as much bouncing around outside compared to their bouncing the other side of the netting when they were inside LOL). Walking home we mentioned that it wouldn't surprise us if they put them all in the back of a meat wagon and bussed them to Parkway, or if not assign one copper to each of them for the walk to the station.

IMHO it's too late to change for this season, unfortunately the dice have been rolled and we will have to make do with what we have. In just over a week there will only be 3 games left!!! If Wotte pulls this off (which I'm now beginning to very much doubt) then he still may deserve a go, but I think he will walk either way (just a gut feel looking at his past record and thinking that he is a Lowe guy). As for a replacement for next season, I'm afraid my head is spinning too uch from other things to even think about it!!!!!!!!

So a few hundred left out of a crowd of 28,000. Big deal. And if any prospective buyer was swayed by a couple of hundred walking out after conceding a third goal at home to the worst team in the division in a shambles of a season, then I don't think they would be right for the Club anyway.

Exactly what I was thinking when I walked home last night. I just can't see how we can stay up and although I'll get behind the team until it comes to a head one way or the other, i do think the current set up is beyond redemption. The focus has to be ensuring the Club still exists, even if that means playing in League One next season.

The finances will not tell us why Pearson was booted out and why Poortvliet was appointed.

That wasn't 4-4-2 with the midfiled formation displayed yesterday looking nothing like a traditional 4 in the middle. No width, no centre midfielders, Wotton too far back, DMG too far forward. Alot of yesterday has to be laid at the door of Wotte, who is failing to deliver at the crunch end of the season. He still has a chance to change it round, so he has to show us he is not Poortvliet Mk II. As for lack of money etc, we had choices (Pearson, Scheiderlin, all the loans etc etc etc), we just made the wrong ones, so let's not go down that route again.

Webster was appointed by Lowe, who must have paid off Coles for Webster to come in and who is still being paid after I understand Lowe turned down Webster's request to get off the payroll and go to Ipswich last summer.

I've been saying all season that the two best ways of filling the stadium are: 1. Good results, particularly at home. It's quite a simple concept (but I accept one that is sometimes hard to deliver), but people will undoubtedly come along if they think they're going to get goals, be entertained and see the team win. We never managed that from the off this season due to some very poor decisions regarding the replacement/appointment of managers added to a very suspect strategy with regards tactics, starting line up, formation, transfer dealings etc etc etc. And in absence of that: 2. Engender a spirit of togetherness and community spirit. IMHO there was no way Lowe (or Wilde) were going to be able to pull this one off. IMHO they have no pull on the suporters and they do not command the respect and support of the grass roots of this Club. They were not the tow figureheads that people were ever going to rally around in this Club's hour of need. In fact, on too many occasions , Lowe has sought to confront and antagonise the support base. Additionally, their appaling footblling decisions (in 1. above) meant that seeking people's support was always going to be an uphill challenge. It is a sorry state to be in that we have to go through such a disastrous (and IMHO avoidable) season to get to a point when the supporters feel they can now rally around the Club. Sorry, but absolutely inevitable given how the CLub has been run in recent years.

What part can I disagree with???? Thomson was completely out of his depth, the game just passed him by. The midfield formation was poor. No bite in the middle with Wotton and McGoldrick too far apart, with Wotton in particular too deep. No real width and when we changed it we played the wide men on the wrong flanks (plus Smith is very poor). Saga and Euell got very poor service. I agree the manager got quite a lot wrong today. As you can see I can't really disagree with much at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taken from my match report bit: As for the trouble at the end, bit of a nothing really. There were about 15-20 Charlton giving it large all afternoon (even moving seats just after half time to give a different stand some abuse from behind the netting) who came out only to be met by something like 500+ disappointed Saints fans in the North car park. The police quickly coralled the 15-20 rather worried looking Charlton fans back against the exit gate and then eventually took them back inside for their own safety.

I don't think you are reading it correctly. I was saying that I don't remember Lowe getting any stick (not he should have) for bringing Sturrock in a fortnight after originally saying Wigley would be caretaker for the 13 games until the end of the season when WGS left.

Considering we just shipped three goals at home and lost to the worst team in this division. then I have to say your marks are rather generous. I'm all up for being positive and optimistic, but surely you've been too generous.

They are buying the golden share that let's them enter a football club n the league and with it the potential to get that team in to the top flight. That's the only long term thing, players will come and go.

Absolutely. They'd have to be rather dumb not to realise that we're rather sht on the footballing front, after all the table doesn't lie. Get that part right (and I accept it is a difficult task) then the potential is clearly there.

I would have been. Today showed what can be achieved with some common sense and soem decent management. Forget the rubbish on the pitch, people would hve seen what this Club could be. If the deal is right, then hopefully someone can see the potential.

And before Exit2 says it, our old friend LongLifeSaint/Cherry was in the same row as me (but over the other side of the little metal barrier in the corporates)!!!!!!!!!!

It's still not over, but if we can't beat Charlton at home then it is a fair enough question to ask just where are we going to get these points from!!! Have to say we were very poor all over the pitch and lacked passion, commitment, guts and spirit. Whilst the crowd turned up and were up for it, it would appear the team and Wotte didn't manage to match that enthusiasm. Tactics didn't look good and once again I don't think the 4-1-2-1-2 formation worked. Wotton sat too deep and McGoldrick is no centre midfielder. Wotte didn't get the formation right and we never managed to outplay a rather poor Charlton side. Wat was surprising was that our normal rock solid defence looked as thought they hadn't played together. Don't know whether Thomson playing affected them, but Saeijs in particular had a poor game. Now here's for the player scores. Davis - 6 - Saved a penatly and some other good saves Thomson - 1 - I'm not crushing the guy, just saying how I saw it, but he was just out of his depth. the game passed him by Saeijs - 4 - Not his usual self at all. Perry - 5 - With Thomson and Saeijs not at the races he suffered. Skacel - 6 - Seemed as though he was playing on his own at times Lallana - 4 - Didn't really do anything Wotton - 4 - As with Lallana and was to deep to really contribute McGoldrick - 4.5 - Good goal, but nothing else really. The turnaround that Crouch demonstrated with regards D & G and Pearson was no different from Lowe's turnaround when he installed Wigley until the end of the season and then did a 180 degree turnaround. At the time Lowe said: "He has agreed to take charge of the first team until the end of the season", "Wigley understands the importance of the next 13 games", "we will take the necessary time to explore our options". I'm not trying to make this a Lowe v Crouch thing at all, just trying to show that Lowe did exactly the same thing when he was in charge and he quite rightly never came in for any stick about it, nor did anyone use it as a reson for questioning his judgement.
