The word and meaining of Gibberish/Jabberish/Geberish predates our occupation of Gibraltar in the early 1700's (sounds a nice story though). You might not like it but it probably has its origins in either an Irish dialect or an Islamic Scientist.

And even though I risk the wrath of Chin Strain, has anyone seen the way TalkSport reported the Baldock move to West Ham (in my defence, Granty was peddling this filth on Twitter last night)??? "West Ham have signed MK Dons striker Sam Baldock after beating Southampton to the forward’s signature. Mk Dons preferred to do business with the Hammers, in what will be seen as a coup over their Championship leading rivals, and accepted their £2m bid ahead of Southampton’s offer for the 22-year-old." As Mr grant said, an interesting choice of words.

Shilton, world class.

You're spot on and what makes it worse is that other clubs probably see us as being flush with cash, either due to them thinking we're being massively bankrolled or the Oxo money is burning a hole in our pocket, or a combination of both. I'd imagine it's been a tough window trying to dampen down others expectations of what we can afford to pay.

So if you've criticised NC in the past you are not allowed to post links to any articles with a hint of negativity. So by the same token anyone who has praised NC should not be allowed to post links to positive articles???? Had he put a slant on the story then you might have a point, but instead he even went out of his way to call Warnock an ar5e with no other padding around the link. I do hope you're going to chastise the other poster on the Gorkss thread who also posted the link (I think a third poster posted it somewhere else as well).

But not a bad place to spend a day. The siege tunnels were impressive as were the old town fortifications. Good for history buffs, but wasn't impressed with much else.

Found it a rather strange place when I went there a couple of weeks ago. Obviously read, heard and seen much about it, but it turned out to be nothing like I was expecting. Some parts of it looked British, whilst other parts continental (particulalry the newer buildings), they drove on the right and it certainly wasn't like the Little England I was expecting. Although the first language was supposed to be English, the majority of conservations between people were undertaken in Spanish (a few in a hybrid dialect). I also got a sense that those who I met weren't British nor did they have any desire to be British, but instead referred to themselves as Gibraltarians or Llanitos. When I spoke to some the overwhelming reason for remaining "British" didn't seem to be a sense of history, loyalty or love of the Mother Country, but instead a desire to benefit from economic success of the enclave and they were constantly referring to the fact that right across the border unemployment was a major problem. I certainly interpreted it as being a flag of economic convenience.

30 years ago one of the key factors in deciding on whether you went to University or not was not intelligence, but instead social status. One of the reasons it was elitist, was not due to ability, but due to the lack of social mobility. Fortunately this has changed in recent years (although I fear recent developments might take us back a few decades) and access and ability to attend University has been widened. I certainly don't think degrees have got "easier", just more accessible to a large section of the population.

He's said nothing apart from highlighting the piece and putting up a link, so I didn't interpret it as a dig. Methinks you might be the one tilting at windmills.

Given some of his hysterical bedwetting posts about dark forces at play, I sometimes struggle to know what he means LOL.

A few more people read The Echo than this website. So what you're suggesting is a blanket ban on any potential "bad news" from every being reproduced on here. Welcome to North Korea!!!!

They must have good memories or stuck in a Manji time warp if they think we still have the Walcott money still burning a hole in our pockets. #clueless

Agree with everything, right up to the bit in bold as like Adkins I think we're a bit short in the middle of defence.
-
Seems such a long time ago now, but I was sure along with back issues it was his crocked knee that kept flaring up (plus didn't we forget his birthday which kept him on the treatment table?).
-
I'll give you some foresight then. Take extra care when we play Portsmouth, West Ham, Cardiff and Brum. Also might want to consider Bristol City as being potentially troublesome. After that, watch out for Boro, Forest & Leiciester. have a look at the amount of tickets they've each sold and if 1,500 -2,000+, then you will certainly have to make different arrangements than we did for Millwall at home. Millwall brought a sizeable number down, they have what you might call a "reputation", there has been trouble with them down here in the past, there was trouble during the match and the result didn't go their way. I don't think you need hindisght to suggest it might have been better to close off the North Car Park after the match. As for the bit about supporters' human rights, then someone in authority has lost the plot!!!!!!!

It must be remembered that GCSEs are quite simply achievement tests and certainly not a measure of innate intelligence. That said there is no evidence to suggest that exams have become easier and instead, as someone above has pointed out with reference to the Flynn research, there is significant evidence that "we" as a body have grown more intelligent over time (even if we might find the old style Maths GCSEs difficult to pass). Saw a good tweet the other day something along the lines of: "1960s literacy levels were 60%, 2011 levels are 95%. Are we suggesting reading has got easier?"
-
There is no way you could expect The Echo not to run this story. A Prem manager (no matter how mad he is) giving us a roasting will always be big news!!! Haven't read their piece to see what they've added or what their slant is, but you can't expect them not to run with a story like this.
-
I had exactly the same thoughts, even down to wondering if they were the same person (or if not close relatives). I wouldn't say he was a WUM, just someone who isn't all there. Not sure if you could or should ban someone for being "challanged", instead I think you just have to accept it with good grace.
-
WTF have you done!!!!!!!!!!!!! You do realise the sanctimonious possee will soon be out in force slaughtering you over the use of such an offensive analogy!!!!! Comparing Warnock with Hitler, and low and behold, comparing Cortese with Stalin. (PS Godwin's Law is invoked)
-
But we have to accept that Warnock is only seeing one side of the story. I'm sure there were other factors in play (probably outside of ours and QPRs control), so it might not be all down to our failings. I certainly don't think Warnock is lying, but he isn't privy to why we were stalling/delaying. It certainly doesn't sound ideal, but then again nor does Puncheon going the other way, and we have had some previous on this before. However, ultimately results on the pitch will take precedence and Adkins and Cortese will be judged by them. If they fall away and a lack of a decent centre half is believed to be one of the problems then they might face some questions, but if they carry on doing well, then this deal falling apart will mean nothing.
-
A valid opinion, but it is just as possible that we did dither, stall or cock it up. We have previous for pontificating over transfers, for better or worse. We don't know either way, so it can only be your opinion that if we really wanted him it would have been done quickly. Not saying it's a good thing or a bad thing. Ultimately we may have been playing hardball and not prepared to pay what QPR or Gorkss wanted, which is legitimate, but there is also the possibility that we did misjudge the situation (particularly with the Fontaine deal breaking down). The "loss" of Gorkss and/or Fontaine will be judged as we progress through the season. If we get someone else in, or Seabourne develops in to a great centre half, then all will be forgotten. No new faces and some injuries or loss of form may bring out some different viewpoints.
-
I'm totally au fait and in agreement with this. Absolutely accept that we do indeed have a finite pot and we have to be fairly prudent when spending it. Also accept that in their ignorance other clubs probably think we're being "massively" bankrolled, plus have a wedge from Oxo and therefore demand more (probably as do some players!!!). Certainly not asking us to spend our way out of this division, as along with accepting we haven't got a bottomless pit, I also think team spirit and cohesion is something money can't buy.

What does it take to be a great manager?
um pahars replied to georgeweahscousin's topic in The Saints
Don't want to be the party pooper, but 56 is not a multiple of 3!!!!!!!!!! -
I think people have been fairly refrained in their "clamour" to sign big money players. I would certainly support a decent sum on a forward and would argue it is recycling a small portion of the Chamberlain fee. Other than that i would be happy on a Gorkss type pedigree of player (i.e. not a fortune, but someone who has been there and done it) to help strengthen the centre of defence.
-
Fair enough, but my opinion would be that these are decent enough players for the Championship, but might well struggle in the Premiership (they of course might go and set it alight). Fox is 25, and apart from 4 months with a soon to be relegated Burnley, has plyed his trade outside of the top flight. Nothing wrong with that and hoepfully he will play a key role in our promotion this season or next, but I wouldn't agree that he has been bought with a view to being our left back in the top flight.
