Just announced they will be arriving from 6:00 tonight and leaving Sunday afternoon. Understand HMS Illustrious is (or will be) down where the QEII docked and is accompanying them out on Sunday. http://www.southampton.gov.uk/news-events/events/allevents/clipper-round-the-world-yacht-race.asp http://www.southampton.gov.uk/news-events/latest-news/clippermusic.aspx Fireworks late on Saturday evening.

Sat outside in the Bus' grassed beer garden sipping Pimms. Very civilised.
-
Anyone coming down over the weekend to see the start of the Clipper Race???? Just had a wander through the village they've set up and looks pretty decent (there's a double decker bus converted in to a bar outside Banana Wharf). Rufus Stone & Toploader tomorrow night with The Delays on Saturday. Not overly fussed on any of them, but it's free so hopefully a few people will turn up.

Flu or viral sh!t that's going around??

You alright John??????? You sound like the teenagers in our cricket team!!!!!!

Have to say that I find some of their Laws/Teachings to be very just and socially progressive. Rageh Omar's recent profile of the Life of Muhammad and the creation of Islam as a religion made a change from the ramblings of most of our media. I certainly wouldn't base my view of Christianity on the ramblings of the Westboro Baptists, so I'm not going to get too worked up about Islam4UK's rants.

Had to chuckle with you there Chez and in the same vein: I've flown to Barcelona for a weekend and taken in a tour of the Nou Camp, do you think people will be flying in from Barcelona for a weekend in Southampton and taking in a trip of our museum???
-
LOL. Thump, thump, thump.
-
That's not really what people are saying though is it!! You'd make a good columnist for the Daily Mail the way you embellish and ratchet up issues. Love it.

Administration and handling costs????

Very close to where I'm coming from. There just seem to be a number of poor decisions (to me anyway) being made that seem out of step with what we probably should be doing (the season ticket system being the strangest) and like you think they are actually missing at trick in drumming up business and tempting supporters to part with their money (particularly the more "casual" supporter).
-
Indeed. I'm not sure people are calling for a philanthropic gesture every single day, nor are they against the Club being run as a commercial business. Instead they are questioning whether we need to have another look at how we treat supporters and whether we are missing a trick somewhere.
-
I don't think many clubs go in for your line of thinking, with many realising that in addition to the core, committed supporter who will come what may, there are many others who need to be enticed in to coming through various means. Additionally, the corporate market is certainly one area where you need to be proactive in these tough times.
-
I'm not so sure Stu, after all I just think many viewed it as a glorified training exercise (despite the poor pitching and marketing). I also think it might be a shot across the bows in not taking supporters for granted. Others have mentioned it above, but maybe a few don't like it and have indeed lumped it! If season ticket sales aren't overly impressive will "we" have let the Club down or should we instead look at how the Club went about pushing them???
-
Will have to have a gander as it sounds quite nice. The JPT final support must have been rather moving seeing such numbers and passion a year after rocking up.
-
It is somewhat ironic that in an effort to reduce the "fraudulent" use of season tickets, the revised system has probably put hundreds of duplicates in to the system.
-
Someone has suggested that those who have paid in installments will first be getting a book with games 1-8 in and then a second covering 9-23 when they have paid the final installments. If so, it looks as though a number of us "paid in full" season ticket holders have been given the wrong book. Just wonder how widespread it is and whether people even realise??? I certainly wouldn't have looked unless I had seen this thread and have let others know. Two had put there's straight in the draw and only found the first 8 games were missing when I told them!!!!
-
Just got out of bed and in the post is another full season ticket!!!! I am now the proud owner of three season tickets (even if one is only games 9-23)!!!!
-
Just got in and a new season ticket was on the door mat!!!! So I now have two season ticket booklets!!!! Good job I'm an upstanding citizen!!!!!
-
Sir Woody is a stand up guy so slightly disappointed that some are having a pop on here when all he's doing is sharing some info.
-
Spoke to someone down at SMS yesterday and I think it would be fair to say the bloke sounded somewhat harassed!!!! so not sure how widespread this issue is. Told me he would send a new Season Ticket in the post that afternoon, so will see if a new one has arrived when I get home (so presume I will end up with 1 full one and 1 with games 9-23 on - good job I'm an honest person and will rip the original one up!!!!!!).
-
As with Turkish, I think you're close to my thinking (although I would say that there would always be a chance of finishing fourth and scraping in to the champions League on an exceptional basis).
-
Spot on. King canute had the same problem with some of his courtiers, until of course he proved them wrong!!!
-
I await their response!!!!!!! Just wonder how many have gone out incorrectly and how they are going to redress the situation. If they just re-send a new one out, then Cortese could well have more than 32 rogue tickets in circulation come October!!!!!!!!! So I presume the onus will be on us to travel up/down to SMS to sort out their clusterfccuk.
-
Just opened mine up and I also only have games 9-23!!!!! Someone's cckocked up!!!!!
