  1. So how many did we sell in the end???? Can't see it mentioned anywhere (sorry if it is on a thread somewhere).
  2. The Golden Lion on the Queen Elizabeth was 100% Saints over the last fortnight!!!!!! On the last night the old guy on the piano was knocking out some "cockerney" songs, but when he got to "When I was just a little boy", it seemed as though half the pub was joining in with the other version!!!!!!!!! eircofarabia is spot on in his analysis above, in that during the 70's and 80's they were just not on our radar as they languished in the lower leagues, whilst we scrapped it out with the big teams. The jealousy and rivalry was fairly one way (in much the same way as Bournemuff were getting all worked up last season).
  3. Have to agree. 2 x tickets £60 Home shirt & printing £45 Programme £3 That's close to £110 on its own. Sounds a very good deal.
  4. Is it too early to put down our estimates????? If not, I'm going for 25,122
  5. They don't on our prices. The £23 is adult advanced purchase in Family stand. The £30 is adult advanced purchase in Centre Itchen/Kingsland.
  6. Understand the top rate Ipswich ones are seats that are initially offered to the Corporate Market (padded seats, opposite Director's Box, seperate drinking area etc), but are sometimes offered on general sale if they don't sell out.
  7. You're not a very good example to your classmates as qualifications are always important (no matter what your future aspirations are). I'm sure people can make it without or despite them, but you'd be better off knuckling down in your final year and bagging as many as you can (at a decent grade as well). Have you got approval from your school or are you just going regardless???
  8. I'm surprised your parents and school are letting you go during term time!!!! Isn't this your important GCSE year???
  9. Us teachers aren't planning on striking, for a few weeks anyway. Off tomorrow for a nice cruise on the Queen Elizabeth, good job I had that day off on strike recently or else I would never have got round to doing all the holiday preparation. Regards.
  10. If that is indeed the gate then it would be very, very poor!!!! We got a similar gate last year against Plymouth for the opener (21,700), with 2,000 away fans. I would have thought a couple of thousand extra home fans and another thousand from Yorkshire, would mean a gate of 25,000. Season tickets will be underpinning our attendances so it will be interesting to see how many we have shifted come Saturday.
  11. It's the booklet with the vouchers in that are in circulation, not a full season ticket pouch with your name and address and seat no. That said, I've often just ripped out the voucher when there's been a queue at the turnstile, so there is a possibility that people could just try and use the voucher (and a cursory wave of the voucher booklet to get in). Of course to counter this I assume the Club will be briefing turnstile operators to check every ticket booklet and probably have stewards working the queues outside as well. However, even if the Club are confident they have checks in place I would have thought it would be plain common courtesy to inform supporters that there are problems with some season tickets. As others have pointed out, there must be a great many people out there just sat on what they assume to be full season tickets who could well be on for a shock come Saturday. At the wedding on Saturday I let a couple of friends know about this error and recieved two texts yesterday, one was OK, one only had 9-23. It is not too late for the Club to announce something through their media outlets (e-mail & OS) and get this replicated out in the local media.
  12. Darkies = Muslims innit. Tilting at windmills
  13. Just announced they will be arriving from 6:00 tonight and leaving Sunday afternoon. Understand HMS Illustrious is (or will be) down where the QEII docked and is accompanying them out on Sunday. http://www.southampton.gov.uk/news-events/events/allevents/clipper-round-the-world-yacht-race.asp http://www.southampton.gov.uk/news-events/latest-news/clippermusic.aspx Fireworks late on Saturday evening.
  14. Sat outside in the Bus' grassed beer garden sipping Pimms. Very civilised.
  15. Anyone coming down over the weekend to see the start of the Clipper Race???? Just had a wander through the village they've set up and looks pretty decent (there's a double decker bus converted in to a bar outside Banana Wharf). Rufus Stone & Toploader tomorrow night with The Delays on Saturday. Not overly fussed on any of them, but it's free so hopefully a few people will turn up.
  16. Flu or viral sh!t that's going around??
  17. You alright John??????? You sound like the teenagers in our cricket team!!!!!!
  18. Have to say that I find some of their Laws/Teachings to be very just and socially progressive. Rageh Omar's recent profile of the Life of Muhammad and the creation of Islam as a religion made a change from the ramblings of most of our media. I certainly wouldn't base my view of Christianity on the ramblings of the Westboro Baptists, so I'm not going to get too worked up about Islam4UK's rants.
  19. Had to chuckle with you there Chez and in the same vein: I've flown to Barcelona for a weekend and taken in a tour of the Nou Camp, do you think people will be flying in from Barcelona for a weekend in Southampton and taking in a trip of our museum???
  20. LOL. Thump, thump, thump.
  21. That's not really what people are saying though is it!! You'd make a good columnist for the Daily Mail the way you embellish and ratchet up issues. Love it.
  22. Administration and handling costs????
  23. Very close to where I'm coming from. There just seem to be a number of poor decisions (to me anyway) being made that seem out of step with what we probably should be doing (the season ticket system being the strangest) and like you think they are actually missing at trick in drumming up business and tempting supporters to part with their money (particularly the more "casual" supporter).
  24. Indeed. I'm not sure people are calling for a philanthropic gesture every single day, nor are they against the Club being run as a commercial business. Instead they are questioning whether we need to have another look at how we treat supporters and whether we are missing a trick somewhere.
  25. I don't think many clubs go in for your line of thinking, with many realising that in addition to the core, committed supporter who will come what may, there are many others who need to be enticed in to coming through various means. Additionally, the corporate market is certainly one area where you need to be proactive in these tough times.
