  1. Would have to agree that a number of players seem to be playing somewhat below their capabilities, but on the plus side once they all start to click and fulfill their potential then hopefully we will go on a decent run until the end of the season finishing a comfortable second. Hopefully recent results will give us a big confidence boost and we can push on from here. But I do think that collectively and individually we have to up our game. Nothing wrong with suggesting we playing under par at the moment and to say we have ground out a few results is a fair observation (and also perhaps the sign of a successful team).
  2. Cracking ties there. Potential for all being in top 6 at that point.
  3. And Adkins has been in charge for 29 games!! http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-one/2010-2011/custom-table Brighton 29, 61pts Saints 29, 57pts Orient 27, 49pts Hudds 30, 52pts Posh 29, 50pts B'mouth 30, 50pts
  4. Have always thought it will go to the last game of the season, which won't be good for my nerves. History has us getting promoted at a London venue, so maybe we will go up at Brentford and Walsall at home will be a party!!!!!
  5. I would certainly say that since the Carlisle thumping we haven't been firing on all cylinders. A part of that coincided with Lallana's injury (and there have been other injuries as well), but nonetheless the performances haven't been overly good. I'm not saying we need to be playing champagne football every game, but there have been a number of performances where we haven't even got the basics right, surrenedered possession too easily, made basic errors and not looked overly convincing (I think we have been fortunate in that some of the teams we have played have been dire e.g. Swindon & Yeovil). That said, we've ground out some results (but also lost a couple of stupid games) and I'm not overly fussed about how we go up, as long as we do. I'll take any three points and promotion however it is earned, but my caveat would be that as long as we are "underperfoirming" there is another chance of a silly slip up.
  6. I too think they will be our biggest rivals for second place, but not writing off Huddersfield either!!! Think they'll win all their home games and the upsets could come away from home with the ones you have marked being real toughies/6 pointers (although they haven't been that bad away either recently - 9 from 5 games I think)
  7. You won't be p*****g me off, I would be more than happy for them to come up via the Play Offs and join us.
  8. Very important win, so very, very pleased. Bournemouth's loss midweek and our victory today could well have ended their push for second spot, which leaves a right old battle with Huddersfiled and Posh. Interesting that Posh have so many away games (7 out of 11). Their full away record is W6 D2 L8 (20 out of 48 - not impressive) Recently it's been W3 D0 L2 (9 out of 15 - not bad)
  9. Get the fckkk in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And now come on Rovers, pull one back (think asking Carlisle for a comeback might be wasted)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. But with a squad miles better, they should be miles behind. Like you I also believe we have a much stronger squad than anyone else in this division, but recent performances have been somewhat lack lustre and even points per game would suggest we are underperforming when compared to our rivals given the resources we have to hand.
  11. A return roughly matched by quite a few others who by your own admission have a squad miles worse than us!
  12. In Block 34 as well. Obviously some eagle eyed supporters in that block who appreciated that Yeovil were doing that short corner routine. Didn't some team score a cracker from it a couple of years back.
  13. I'm presuming you were somewhere in the Kiingsland/Northam as the fans around there obviously knew what they were up to (along with Barnard), but the dinlo ref didn't have a clue!!!!!! I've never seen parts of the Kingsland get so animated (along with a fair dash of industrial language!!!!).
  14. Overly generous, LOL!!!! It's my new persona on here!!!! Perhaps you're right in that a decision on this probably was made pretty high up in the Club, with Cortese probably being involved. Just a shame that IMHO they have made a poor call. Your last part resonates with me, in that whilst I fully accept that Cortese appears to be driven and focussed with regards the main priority of promotion, some of the little things around the edge could be handled so much better. It shouldn't have to be an either/or situation and it should be eminently possible to manage both sides without detracting from the main priority of success on the pitch (i.e. how could a decent tribute to Richards in the programme detract from success on the pitch?). The two aren't mutually exclusive and ultimately in addition to success on the pitch, a decent spirit and sense of togetherness can only be good for the Club.
  15. Have to agree that the second goal looked good. The header from Barnard was almost straight off the training ground. But I do have to take exception about the second half being pretty decent. I'd accept it was better than the first half, but then again anything would be as our first half performance was very poor, but I would certainly not call it pretty decent!!!
  16. I have posted that I think the Club's response was poor (particularly the terrible programme tribute), so not having a pop at your stance, but could there be a case that Cortese wasn't involved in making the decision???? Obviously not sure who I think made a wrong call, but perhaps we should consider that it was someone below Cortese (and Cortese wasn't au fait with the details)????
  17. Been a bit busy, so here's my twopenneth on last night. Really chuffed with 3 points, great news that Bournemouth lost, although not much else went for us with regards other results. A win Saturday would be great, but a draw not that bad a result either. As for the game, although I think we were comfortable winners, once again we seem to be stuttering and misfiring. I don't mind how we win and even winning ugly at this stage of the season is OK with me, but my worry is that unless we step up from these poor performances then it could well be a really tough run in. Yeovil were absolute garbage (sorry any Glover fans out there) and for long periods we struggled to produce any decent football. Certainly need to up the performance over the coming weeks. As for players: As someone who was somewhat critical of Gobern recently, I have to say he looked much better last night. Harding had his boots on the wrong feet. Lallana looked as though he was the only quality player we had on the pitch. Barnard got stuck in, gave everything and was duly rewarded.
  18. I would certainly liked to have seen more of a tribute in the matchday programme. The little piece plonked in the back amidst supporters birthday dedications just didn't seem right to me. Just wouldn't have thought it would be that difficult for someone to write a nice piece in the programme or perhaps come up with a little montage on the screens if we didn't want a full blown minutes silence/applause.
  19. Have to say that I'm hoping for the same, but something has to change!!!!!!! We're certainly not firing on all cylinders, so I'm hoping that we get back in to a decent run of form just in time to finish the season off in style. At the same time, I'm also hoping that Bournemouth finally run out of puff. But I think one or both of the above have to change soon!!!!
  20. I'm not sure anyone gives a shyt how we go up (I certainly don't), but I think it is a fair comment to say that unless we turn up the quality of our performances and perhaps play with a bit more conviction, determination and belief then we might well struggle to go up (but don't let me get in the way of your snide comments).
  21. I suppose it all depends on what you deem as form, the context and what timeframe. Prior to yesterdays result if you had gone back 6 games, it was 11 pts (1.83 ppg) and if you had gone back 8 games to the period when I think we started struggling it was 12 pts (1.5 ppg). So both of those points hauls, combined with some stuttering performances had (and still has) me worried. I fully accept that now and then you have to grind out results, get lucky, have decisions go your way etc, but eventually I think you have to start playing with consistency, dominance and conviction. I think Chapel End Charlie had it right when he said: "In my view we just don't consistently play that well in all honesty and risking the wrath of the many who believe that performances don't matter as long as the results keep coming in then I'd also say that the quality of performance does actually matter because if you keep underperforming then sooner or later you are bound to drop more crucial points." I don't want Champagne football, nor do I feel the need for all of our performances to be top drawer, but I also think that the longer our stuttering performances go on, then the more times we will come a cropper (as on Tuesday).
  22. A very big win on many accounts: getting back in to the winning habit, keeping in the race with most of the others winning, clean sheet, bit of a bogey team etc etc etc. A couple of decent results on Tuesday (us winning against Yeovil) and Bournemuff losing at Exeter and we could conceivably be looking to overhaul them on Saturday!!!! Now is the time to step up the pressure on those above us, although I think Brighton are long gone, and start to dominate matches. Would like to see a bit of loan action as that bench was not inspiring though!!!!
  23. The big assumption there Minty is that you are assuming dear ole Dune is a human (although I do believe Neanderthals are included in the Homo genus).
  24. Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm. Success is not final, failure is not fatal it is the courage to continue that counts. All wise words. LOL
  25. Last season (just after Xmas I think) was one of the most depressing games I saw!!!!!! In the end I was glad the fog came down and spared me watching any more (pity it didn't come down earlier). So with that in mind, I'm afraid I'm somewhat pessimistic about tomorrow and can't see anything better than a draw (matching the result earlier in the season - was Adkins here for that one??). Injury worries aren't going to help us, but you never know we might bounce back and kick someone's ar53e. Still in two minds about going (presume you can buy on the day)
