Would I be right in thinking that the Polish version of Scrabble has a different scoring system to the English version?
-
I would have to agree 100%. Of course I'm not happy with the start and I'm not overly impressed with today's performance, but given the total Fckfest that was last year, then I'm more than willing to give the new team some time to turn things around.
-
I should have probably said that for me the problems are going forward as the support and provision from midfield was poor, even before you got to the woeful Paterson.
-
Maybe there are all in to some spread betting lark on the first throw in, so we always choose to kick off

As in you nearly died laughing, I hope!!!!!!

You can't beat around the bush, no wins from 6 games and only 4 points is not a good start by any stretch of the imagination. Throw in the -10 and it certainly makes it even worse. I'd like to think we have the players and set up to recover from such a poor start, but there can be no denying that the start so far is anything but good.

And here's the scores on the doors for today (and before anyone moans, I'm thinking positively and reported rather gushingly on our performance last week against Brum). A good start against a side content with a draw who really battened down the hatches when they had 10 players. A decent first half where we should have gone ahead, followed by a second half where we just did not have the nous to eek out a goal. Some of the youngsters were terrible (so god knows who thought they could do it in the Championship) and we looked pretty lacklustre upfront. Davis - 7 - not much to do, but looked as good as ever Thomas - 7 - I wasn't sure he could fill in for Murty, but have to say he impressed me today, particularly the first half. Perry - 7 - A good display, sometimes left with their centre forward when Trottman should have had him Trottman - 7 - First time I've seen him, but impressed (see the bit above losing their centre forward). Harding - 8 - Definitely like the look of him and think he has much to offer Mellis - 5 - Didn't really offer us anything even in the first half where we had control Hammond - 6 - Not really sure, let's leave it there James - 5 - Did he do anything Lallana - 7 - Maybe he's found his level, as this was another good game. However, I'm looking for gials from him and he does lack a cutting edge Lambert - 7 - Feel a bit sorry for him as the midfield was poor and his strike partner was terrible, which brings me on to...... Paterson - 1 (ONE as the videprinter would say) - I'm sure I'll have to eat my words when he goes on to play for England, but he was absolutely diabolical. Did nothing. SUBS: Mills - 4 - Had a good run when he first came on, but that was it. Thomson - 4 - Never gave us anything Schneiderlin - 4 - Propaganda stuff as WGS would say. Some nice passes when under no pressure, but nothing clinical and nothing match changing. For me the problems are upfront, so fingers crossed Papa and Saga can turn it on. A very disappointing performance despite Colchester doing everything to break up the game.

Problem is that we are on a Re-Rewind!!!!!!!!! -
He's a comedian making a funny off the cuff comment on a jokey show and you have to pick him up on his failure to grasp property valuations in the 1980's:rolleyes:. I think most of the audience got the jist of what he was saying, so you can go back to Estate Agents Weekly and evaluate your property portfolio. HTH

Even if the two new guys aren't playing I'm predicting a scruffy 1-0 win to kickstart the season. Lambert deflected goal, they'll have one (maybe two disallowed) and we will ride our luck. 18,345. Then we'll be on a roll!!!!!!!!!!!

There were some good times (e.g. the WGS period) and some good ideas & initiatives under the man as well (e.g. our commercial, ticketing and corporate initiatives), but to suggest the positives outweighed the negatives is risible. Maybe if you have been out of the loop for the last 5 years you might think that, but two relegations down to the Third Division, bankruptcy and the Club fighting for it's very existence would lead any rational person to the fact that the bad times far outweighed the good ones. -

(and Poortvliets!!!!!). Hanging on to an appalling manager solely in the name of stability is madness. -
Why can't we seem to come up with some original tunes and lyrics??? We must have the most boring and unoriginal selection of songs/chants going.
-
Been out of the loop for a bit, but even allowing for offloading a few players wages (and bringing some others in), I still think we would be running at an operational deficit (i.e. running at a loss before player sales). Wouldn't want to be held to a figure, but I would have thought we are being subsidised by a few million a year.
-
I think that's a bit harsh on us as Pardew is moulding the team how he wants it;)
-
Having witnessed the shambolic Revolutionary Coaching Set Up and the devastation it caused, then I think you have to laugh, because the alternative would only be to cry. He was as comical as a clown and the subsequent revelations and ttbits that have recently come out only go to ram home just how out of his depth and how poor he really was. So basically you're arguing that there is/will be no significant difference between Poortvliet and Pardew? If there isn't then I will come back here next summer and eat humble pie (unlike many who went all quiet and shy as the Revolutionary Coaching Set Up tore itself and the Club apart). Now I'm not saying that Pardew is the best thing since sliced bread, but Poortvliet really shouldn't be mentioned in the samed breath as the guy. Even allowing for Wigley, IMHO Poortvliet was by far the worst manager I have seen at the Club in 35 years.
-
It wouldn't be the end of the world, but I agree it would certainly be bad news. We have to snap out of it and get into positive points ASAP. That's not being unrealistic, not being over demanding or even knee jerk, just an honest assessment that whilst I accept this season is all about consolidation, rebuilding and reversing the trend, we do actually have to start to accumulate points at some point this season.
-
LMFAO, the guy was a total failure whose level would be Blue Square (at best) or something like the Jewson Wessex!!!!! Would love to know who would argue that Poortvliet may be a better option for us given our current position. Any takers??????
-
Fingers crossed you're right, and if they play like they did midweek then surely we will get a win (then again this is Saints we're on about here!!!!). Two recent games where i was in no doubt we would win was the semi against Watford and the first Cup match against Portsmuff at St Mary's. Other games recently I've thought could go either way, whereas those two I knew we were going to win (even had a wager on both, although not the best odds!!!).
-
Well hopefully it will be good news as thought he played well midweek in a side that looked half decent (relatively speaking of course).
-
And I don't think anyone really is that worried about questions of Le Tiss and/or others. Given the fact that he himself is only too happy to recognise his shortcomings, then I don't think there is any problem discussing them on here. Additionally, Fitzhugh's and others posts on here regarding his dealings with Pinnacle haven't been censored nor castigated as there was a valid question to be asked.

Have to say that stank of bullsht to me at the time as well. :---) The mods have been caught with their pants down on this one. When Nineteen first arrived on the scene (2/3 days after Sundance Beast was banned) the mods were adamant it wasn't the same poster. It then turns out that the mods knew it was Sundance all along and had allowed him to re-register under an amnesty. No wonder it's soooooooooooo easy to get confused on this one:rolleyes:
-
I think you'll find the Fashanu faux pas was made by Sundance Beast and Nineteen Canteen assures us he's not him;) Then again Ponty has assured us that Nineteen Canteen was allowed to re-register after being banned as Sundance Beast and they are one and the same. Are you bullshtting us Ponty:---) Then again, as Sundance Beast sent quite a few of us the following: "You also miss the point that I was banned as The Fourth Bear also was found out to be Flashmanatthecharge who was banned" So with all these comings & goings, bullsht and lies, etc etc etc, it's sooooooooooo easy to get all confused:rolleyes:

Dnepr (can't remember how to spell their full name) from Ukraine (back then the USSR). We played them in a friendly at some point in the late 80's and signed Cherednik and Gotsmanov as a result of them performing well. We wanted to sign Dostoevski, but couldn't get a work permit and it fell through. He topped their scoring charts for the next 8 years and then played out his career at Lokomotiv Test Side.

I'm glad you took the time to say that, because I really couldn't be bothered to respond to such banal waffle (i.e. so insightful on the atmosphere, te doesn't attend, knocking those who attend whilst staying away etc etc etc:rolleyes:).
