Just like the good old league one days -
Or even Clyne at Right back with Chambers at DM (he was originally a midfielder)?

Yes we have an exceptionally poor record there including a 7-1 defeat too with just a handful of wins amongst the many Goodison defeats. We did win up there for the first time in the league in 1966/67 (our first in the top divison) 1-0 again in 71/72 (the year after the 8-0 drubbing) with a lone goal by Ron Davis and again the following year in 73/74 in our last match of the season 3-0 (as a Birminghams 2-1 win v Norwich relegated us that year as third from bottom with Manu at the bottom, the first in which 3 teams went down). Then no more wins until two in the 90's 1-0 in 91/92 and 2-0 in 97/98 but none since then. so just 5 wins in 40 league visits!

Did the Premiere league official match reporter see a different match to me? or am I biased? The Hosts bright start? No fluency from Saints? Everton ended the match looking for a third? No mention of the not given penalty? Match report Romelu Lukaku ended a five-game goal drought to help Everton return to winning ways at Goodison Park with a 2-1 victory over Southampton in the Barlcays Premier League. Seamus Coleman gave the hosts the lead with a marvellous individual effort, but Gaston Ramirez equalised from 35 yards with a dipping effort that deceived Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles. Chelsea loanee Lukaku was on hand to finish a sweeping move just three minutes later and keep Everton in the hunt for European places. Were it not for Thursday's defeat by Sunderland, Everton would have been celebrating an unbeaten year at home, but they responded to that set-back with a measured performance in front of their fans. Defeat for Southampton was their fourth in eight matches and leaves them adrift from the top eight. Leighton Baines returned to Roberto Martinez’s XI and Robles made his first Barclays Premier League start for Everton in place of the suspended Tim Howard, with Kelvin Davis returning to the Southampton goal ahead of Paulo Gazzaniga and being called into action by Ross Barkley from Coleman’s cross in the third minute. The hosts’ bright start paid off six minutes later when right-back Coleman picked the ball up on his flank and burst into the area before smashing an unstoppable strike into the top far corner. It was the Irishman's fifth goal of the season, surpassing his tally for the previous four campaigns combined. Southampton came into this game on the back of a rousing 3-0 win over Cardiff City on Thursday, but struggled to find any sort of fluency for much of the opening period. Adam Lallana spurned a good chance after weaving through two defenders. They were nearly made to pay just after the break, when a low cross from Bryan Oviedo found Barkley in the six-yard box, but the 20-year old failed to find the target. Southampton began to find their feet as the game wore on, and several had chances in a matter of seconds after 65 minutes, Luke Shaw having a low drive blocked, before Jay Rodriguez's effort was deflected wide. Five minutes later they were on level terms in emphatic circumstances when substitute Ramirez sent a wicked swerving effort past Robles and into the roof of the net from distance. The visitors could not hold on and were behind once again just three minutes later, as substitute Steven Pienaar and James McCarthy combined to give Lukaku a chance, which he finished with aplomb. Everton pushed for a third in the closing stages, Lukaku firing over and forcing a great save from Davis, but a one-goal margin proved enough for victory

Two matches in 3 days showed in jaded performances by Lambert (getting old) Shaw (still too young for too many quick games) Good performances Cork Lallana Gaston. defence looked more stable but we are missing the ballwinning break up play of of Schniederlin and Wanyama We should play Gaston and Clyne v Chelsea and Osvaldo if fit rest JWP, Chambers and Lambert as part of squad rotation. When is the 4 card Amnesty is it next game? as Fonte is still on a knife edge!

Wasn't just the goal he made us look so much more dangerous
-
Gastonnnnnnnnnnnnn

We need to score at least 2 to get our top defensive record back off them (Arsenal and Chelsea will need to concede 1 too)!
-
This thread is based on on a number of miffielders the truth is we have 3 main holding midfielders in Schneiderlin Wanyama and Cork. In our current favoured system we need two of them. Look at the situation we now have with Everton where both Wanyama and Schniederlin are out. The argument could be we need another strong holding Midfielder not one less! I aslo believe Jack has played superbly once he settled back into the side and has a great future here. Why would we want to sell? particularly as a decent replacement is likely to cost us many millions with no certainity he would be any good (based on some recent purchases)!
-
We can only pull off 3? (I do know what you meant really)
-
Lamboooooo 3-0
-
fan bloody tastic 2-0
-
Only two regular outfield subs in Ward-Prowse and Ramierez not much strength on the bench today!
-
Are we short of strikers then?
-
Not in a World Cup year with Russia Qualified surely?
-
Because spurs prim donnas cannot play a pressing game and we would not be allowed to blood spurs academy players that's why not!

Post Match Reaction: Newcastle United 1-1 SAINTS

Despite our recent defence cock ups following the six past Arsenal today we have also regained the best defensive record with 15 conceded (same as Everton) We have come through a tough period with a number of key injured players continued playing well out and have not really collapsed against anyone. All bodes well going forward with a young inexperienced team, -
