  1. Ok fair enough, you are right, some i did understand, a lot i couldn't. I even took to drinking a few beers before the game to get a better understanding, during the Burley era.Can you say you have not been at a loss to what some of our managers have been doing over the last 5 years. You seem to, by your posts, have a good understanding of the game? Anyway, let's hope the 11 on the pitch are playing so well that we don't need to make substitutes tonight.
  2. Thanks mate, sounds like a Friday night in pompey.
  3. Yes, get it now.Senior moment.Thank-you.
  4. Ok i have read this a number of times................still not getting it, in the context of the thread. It is a little early to be drinking unless it is a very long session.
  5. I, like most people on here would like to think i know a little about football tactics and what's needed via substitutions, to change a game. I bore everyone ****less at games analysing the way we play, the formations etc; and over a number of years i have come away from games trying to work out what a particular manager was trying to do with his "Plan B". Now as you all know we have not been short of football managers over the last few years, but quite frankly i am bemused at some of the strange team selections and substitutions that have been made. Of course you could say i am basing this on the fact that i think i am right, of course i do, but for just once i would love to understand what is going on, and the thinking behind a substitution .Nigel Adkins, over to you.
  6. Sad news, Daren, thoughts are with you and your family.
  7. For this one and only occasion, "Egg", omelette------ing you off.
  8. Best wishes, Nigel. I hope your best is good enough.

  10. I would if it wasn't so serious, "L".What a complete dog's ****in dinner.
  11. Easy tiger, that's our Nige you're disin.
  12. No fair play to you sfc1971, i for one appreciate your info, thank-you.To pay a fiver to do so also shows intent.I can remember a few years ago spotting Rudi Skacel and getting some stick on here.Keep it coming mate.
  13. One way of making up the deficit, Andy. Then we need to find a way of winning matches.See you tonight mate.
  14. I'm inclined to agree with you mate......not the wow factor.
  15. Anyone mentioned Gary Megson. Not trawled through all the pages, but name mentioned to me last night from not a reliable source..........ex premiership manager.......would be under-welmed if true.
  16. Confusion reigns for "spot the ball", adjudicater.
  17. My feelings also.If there was a banana skin to be found we always slipped up.I still think A.P was a very good judge of a player, but struggled to affect a stalemate type of game.
  18. Attack the full-backs, get to the bye-line and pull the ball back for our attacking men to run on to.We have a pretty good no;7 you know.
  19. Perfect timing, now lets go and win some football matches.
  20. Good to see the promising start has been rewarded with a pro-contract. It sounds as if the lad has his feet on the ground and that A.P. will keep them there by reminding him that he's not made it yet. Interesting to read his comments about the "step- up" from youth football to men's.He talks about confidence and getting to know the senior players and how they conduct themslves. This is a massive hurdle for a youngster to make, but if he can and has the ability, he can come on "leaps and bounds". Also interested to read that he normally plays centre midfield, an area we need back-up with, so if the confidence continues and his general play improves, we may see him come in from the wide areas he is being used in now, to play more centrally. I never understood as a centre midfielder myself, i was often used in wide areas as opposed to my natural position and it was only as confidence was gained did i get a chance to play centrally. The club obviously rate the lad, even playing in a wide areas.Does A.P. intend to use the lad in centre midfield as he and the season progresses, i watch with interest.
  21. A touching story which leaves me with more un-answered questions( in my mind) about Marcus's untimely death.
