  1. Did a lot of work until about 2 years ago in Manchester - well Trafford and Salford to be precise. Nice people but I wasn't too impressed with the hotels in the Trafford area. I managed to fit in a visit to the cricket ground and to Old Trafford to watch the Ure. I hated the journey though
  2. Joined the Labour Party when I was 18 and there I stayed until the Iraq war when I resigned on principle. Rejoined when I moved to Dave's Witney constituency.
  3. I used to work at what was County Hall (now a hotel I think) so used to walk past the Shell building to my office. I thought then that it was the height of sophistication.
  4. An alternative take on the matter: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/sep/07/guardian-journalist-questioned-phone-hacking The National Union of Journalists' (NUJ) general secretary, Michelle Stanistreet, said: "There is a vital journalistic principle at stake here. It is outrageous that an allegation of off-the-record briefings is being treated as a criminal matter. "There is a clear distinction between legitimate off-the-record interviews and the illegitimate payment of bribes," she said. "In this case the allegation is simply that a Scotland Yard detective is an off-the-record source."
  5. Nah - you have to posh and (sort of) well educated to join that elite group.

  10. yes, you're right. I was so excited I credited him with winning the wrong event! Gold for the 5K and silver for the 10K.
  11. Just won gold for the 10K! What a performance - brilliant.
  12. Than match day
  13. I've never been on a cruise and I'm never likely too so I don't know the answer to this question: Do cruise ship passengers regularly visit the city from which they embark/finally disembark? Or do they just arrive at the docks / go straight back home?
  14. Hamster ESB Thorpe Verbal SuperMikey St Landrew (sadly missed) DSM
  15. http://www.adamsmith.org/tax-freedom-day/ Under our new 'socialist' government, it will have taken us 3 days longer this year to be tax free so to speak!
  16. I get you
  17. Or is it because you can't think the process through? Pity - because it's just that sort of esoteric thought that is required before making such a sweeping statement
  18. What's that got to do with the price of fish? I'm not in a position to decide who should and who should not be allowed to spout their views. Who should decide who the 'nutters' are and who should be proscribed?
  19. But who is to decide who the nutters are?
  20. Doing some nostalgia and catching up. Just watched Inception and now watching 'All that Jazz'
  21. Says the troll who lives underneath
  22. It might be their rite of passage.
  23. This. Give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves (metaphorically speaking)
