  1. We know the current caretaker manager is going for three out of three tomorrow...
  2. Adkins is now in an impossible position IMO. If he stays at Scunny, there's always going to be the suspicion now that his hearts not really in it and he's only biding his time until the next opportunity arises. If he comes here, he's got a real battle on his hands to get the fans onside because of a perceived lack of urgency in taking up the reins. Whatever he does, he's going to need to keep the results coming to keep the fans happy. Damned if he does; damned if he doesn't springs to mind.
  3. Why won't you be on the bench? Have you got an injury?
  4. Amended for accuracy...
  5. It's my belief that we'll be in the brown stuff, if we appoint Brown.
  6. Indeed. Plymouth at SMS. We lost. Might as well let Wilkins chalk up another defeat and then let Adkins take over on Monday IMO...
  7. Wasn't Adkins due to make a statement? Has this been released yet? Wasn't there also a rumour that he's been placed on gardening leave, as a result of this episode?
  8. I hope we haven't used Nigel Adkins as we did Elliott Ward, to force someone else's hand. Say MON?
  9. Cheers Nicola.
  10. Match that to comparative spend by each manager's team, in their respective league, then Adkins stats become a little more impressive...
  11. Blimey! Adkins leaving has relegated Scunny already. He must be good!
  12. Think this could turn out to be an inspired appointment. An ambitious manager who is supposedly an excellent man manager whose teams play entertaining, flowing football. Best of luck NA! Also, as a trained physio, he might also spot that Lambert is obviously carrying an injury and will hopefully bring in someone on loan to allow him to recover...!
  13. Welcome and the very best of luck Nigel! I'm sure we all hope that you're very, very successful at St Mary's. May I be one of the first to say "Nigel Adkins' red & white army!"

  15. I think it's just about identifying the right man, for the right job, at the right time, at the right team. Simple as. Think Allardyce at Bolton & Newcastle. Think Hoddle at Saints & Spurs. Think Hodgson at Fulham & Blackburn. All examples where decent managers have had comparative success at one club where they spectacularly failed at another. I think the key thing is that those who are doing the hiring bring in the right manager for our situation. If, following the interviews, they feel an up and coming manager, who's done well at his current club and is right for us then they need to bring him in. If we need a big name to come in, have the players in awe of him and shake the club up that way, then so be it. Getting the right man should totally depend on how Cortese, Reed, whoever perceives our current situation. If it is to be Adkins, then once the appointment is made, we should dismiss those it could've been and give the new fella our 100% backing.
  16. Not necessarily. Thank you for the information, Mrs Adkins.
  17. Here's a thought - what if Adkins has said/does say no? Where does that leave us then, assuming the bookies odds are correct?
  18. I'm sure we had a transfer committee when Strachan was in charge too. I seem to recall him saying that David Prutton was the one signing that the whole committee agreed upon. Goes to show that even the whole committee can be wrong sometimes.
  19. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2145930,00.html Seemed pretty upbeat in his interview on the OS, earlier this week. Doesn't read as though it's come from a player wanting to do the off...
  20. Anyone gonna be in the vicinity of the station to confirm it's him? If so, check to see if he's wearing a smart looking suit as he might be off to an interview.
  21. Apparently the person making the bet is a guy called Neil O'Martin. Must have some insider info...
  22. Hope Theyhurryupandappointsomeonedecent would be better.
  23. Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink as player manager? Not many bigger names than his...
  24. Whoever it is, I wish we'd hurry and get them in. Insipid performance yesterday; the players need to know that the new man is in and they need to impress others loans and then, in January, new signings will replace them.
  25. ...whether it'll not be a case of being good enough to be promoted from this division but more whether we're good enough to stay in it, if we don't sort this managerial situation out and fast!
