  1. If NC is truly serious about taking his time to find the right man, how would we feel about Wilkins being in the job for the season and re-evaluating his performance and the situation re: other managers availability, at the end of the season...?
  2. Kick, rush, kick, rush - can't be that hard to pick up?
  3. Too vague. More detail please!
  4. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2010/08/pardew_sacking_at_saints_raise.html#248300 Interesting piece by Paul Fletcher about AP's sacking. [Apologies if posted before but haven't had the chance to look through all the pages]
  5. In a way it's worked because clubs have jettisoned players - think Man City with Robinho etc - but not in the way lower league clubs hoped. We were all hoping for stacks of decent Premier League cast offs to be made available for loan. Instead, the players have been shifted permanently elsewhere.
  6. I'd expect nothing more than world footballing domination in 5 years.
  7. Maybe EITHER party could activate the deal, which I believe could've been the case with Michail Antonio & Reading. If so, please shoot whoever inserted that clause.
  8. Not doubting you fella, but it seems bizarre that AP knew so much about Guly in his comments before the Brizzle game. Or maybe he was being sarcastic...
  9. I agree, the fans do need some clarity from Cortese to ensure they at least stay behind the team. Banal statements from that Jordan Sibley, who looks like he only left school yesterday, are now insufficient.
  10. Some positive news at last...
  11. Good job the lads didn't let AP's departure affect them. Oh... To quote Mr Paul Calf esq.: "Bag-o-****e"
  12. I know! Let's top off this naff week by meekly surrendering our only trophy of the last 30+ years...
  13. On the face of it, a poor transfer window culminating in a sh*t ending (with AP removed and no last minute signings). That said, being the optimistic Saint that I am, I'm prepared to give the new guy a fair go and hope he'll be able to attract some decent loanees to either buy or tide us over until January. If things aren't going well by January under the new man, though, I'd say NC will be none too popular with most of SMS...
  14. Especially not when other areas of the team are more pressing...
  15. Indeed. Unless the signing has taken place and it's just we've not released any details yet. I'm a bit bemused by the fact we keep saying we hope to bring people in but nothing seems to happen. We've been talking about widemen for weeks now and we've still not strengthened that area.
  16. TBF, Easter is quick and I seem to recall him causing us real problems with his pace, for Plymouth, at SMS, in Nigel Pearson's first game in charge. Could do worse.
  17. Just my opinion, but I don't think we should be taking Newcastle's well-used Butt...
  18. I like him, I think he's a very talented player and I think he's just suffering from missing a key part of pre-season. He's also played left wing most of his career and, whilst he's reasonable on his right foot, AP is now asking him to do something very different by playing out on the right. Playing on the left is something the right-footed Lallana has done for quite a while and I think we need to cut Puncheon some slack, when he's only really played on the right wing for half a season. I think we all need to accept that different players, at different points of the season are going to be off form. Puncheon and Hammond, in particular, seem to have started that ball rolling. What we need to do as fans, if we want to be successful, is continue to get behind the team at all costs as it can only help longer term. By all means comment about players being off form in the pub after the game but during those 90 minutes lets get behind them 110%!
  19. Found this quote, dated from Friday on Yahoo Italia / Eurosport. Google translate has done its best for us below the Italian text: This would appear to be a wee stumbling block although maybe one which has been resolved, if it was him at SMS today?
  20. He wasn't frantically waving down a taxi, to go to the airport, after watching us fail to beat the mighty Leyton Orient, was he?
  21. Piece on Sky Transfer Centre now saying Pitman set for Bristol City. Good scoop that SSW! You couldn't go and hang round AP's office to see who we might be signing, could you?!
  22. Signed for them now. I bet they're delighted!
  23. Not doubting the OP for a second but, if my boy becomes good enough to play for a club (hopefully Saints), I'll be saying that Spurs, Chelsea & Arsenal are all sniffing round too!!
  24. Didn't stop us signing Delgado...
