Oddly, Im starting to warm to Downes ( the player). Never thought Id feel or say that. Isn't the world full of surprises!! So we go to a back four and look far more solid. If only a few more people on saintsweb would've spotted that. Solid performance and players looking like they give a shit. Wellington my MoM today. One little mistake towards the end but I thought he looked solid throughout. Most of the back 5 decent plus Downes and Jander looked good.

Agreed with all the points in bold. I thought we looked solid today and were only going to concede from a set piece. The fact that it was a shite goal didn't surprise me. What did pleasantly surprise me was Downes putting himself about today. Actually looked like he gave a shit. Big fan of the keeper. I thought we were the better side and honestly didn't thing we did too much wrong. Of course it wasn't perfect but there was a lot I liked today. We deserved the win I thought.

Think Im seeing this half differently to a lot of people. Its a derby, so there'll be a lot of blood and bluster from the home team, but I actually think we look solid and having a keeper who can clearly command his area is a massive plus. We're showing the only bits of attacking class. Pompey huffing and puffing. The only problem I have is that Tonda has clearly given instructions to get it forward asap to stop them shutting us down, problem with that being we cant hold it up there without stewart and therefore also bypassing our midfield. Other than that Im quite happy with the first half. Just my opinion obviously.
