A good player for this level, but not a great or irreplaceable one... Plus we know he will only ever be good for 30 games a season and that figure is only likely to decrease as he gets into his thirties. Move on, why not get someone in on loan from the Prem?

But for United? He wouldn't get a start... let's not forget that he wasn't in our first choice eleven this season. Somewhere like Everton or Fulham would be a better move, but I can't see him playing often enough there either.

Playing devil's advocate, can anyone see a scenario where we get to play on Saturday, win, but get something like a -10 for next season in the Premier League - making it effectively a dead rubber season but saving the club's skin financially? That would be a truly nightmarish scenario, I think I'd rather take our medicine in the Championship even if it's worse in the long term
