  1. To be fair, Weston General has had to reopen its covid ward as it has gone from zero to 19 patients in the last week. Could just be a blip and no idea of the makeup of the patients and whether any have been vaccinated.
  2. Avram Grant has finally been given the opportunity to speak his mind on the ESL issue by the BBC. They mentioned his management of Chelsea but forgot to say anything about his magnificient stint with the skates (they also forgot to mention him bothering the local hookers). Words of wisdom indeed!
  3. Never forget, it's dates not data that counts. No, that's not right is it, data not dates???
  4. My prediction, it'll go ahead. The big six will stay in the Premier League and there will be no consequences as no-one has the balls to rock the boat. Sky will buy a massive chunk of the TV rights and Neville and Carragher will be shown up for the hollow hypocrites they are when they appear as the studio pundits for the first game! The Premier League may become incidentally more competitive as the six or seven competing in the new league won't be too bothered about the teams they field so 'surprise' results will become the norm (bookies will get richer!).
  5. The Church of England. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56779190
  6. Do you think Lindo Bacon may have some kind of agenda?
  7. All those saying the players will be put off if they can't play for the country have clearly never seen England play - no heart, no passion, no trophies! England - the SFC of world football!
  8. Although he did say he thought the scousers were "honourable"
  9. Looked like a good rehearsal - Queenie didn't look very steady on her feet...
  10. She didn't mean to do it! In a gun crazed society like the US, if the police can't tell the difference between a tazer and a 9mm pistol when it's in their own hands, they really have no business being police officers
  11. Freedom https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56741000
  12. 2nd or 3rd visit to the table now for cheese... https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1422913/Extinction-Rebellion-campaign-dairy-food-schools-racist-Brighton-Hove-City-Council
  13. To be fair, he's probably trying to point out that vaccines haven't been able to prove their worth during lockdown when theoretically no-one is mixing to cause the transmissions. It's a pretty valid point he's making given the evidence from the first lockdown when there was no vaccine, yet the number of infections, hospitalisations and deaths reduced dramatically...
  14. Didn't the article point out the slump in January was partly due to 'stockpiling' in December?
  15. He also said 90% of discussions go over your head, so I guess you're happy with that stat as well
  16. I know it's difficult for you to understand but that tweet was talking about the deadliness of the virus, not the contagiousness. Where have you got the 30-70% more contagious calculation from, not sure that's been mentioned before : https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/covid-variants-brazil-south-african-b1525-new-strain-uk-cases/ Study referred to in the article
  17. Correct. Impact of covid %?
  18. On the news they were claiming that the South Africa variant was brought in by an international traveller in February and has spread to a care home. Odd really since travel from South Africa has been banned since 24th December (although British nationals were allowed to travel but had to self isolate on arrival), since Febraury any arrivals would have had to spend time in a quarantine hotel. Looks like there are plenty of holes once again in our strategy for containing the virus!
  19. Johnson & Johnson's turn now : https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-56733715 6 cases from 6.8 million doses! Pretty sure the virus kills more than 6 people for every 6.8 million infections doesn't it? And from those six blood clots, one has died and one is in critical condition...
  20. Meanwhile, the news being reported by UK press says : https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-56729631
  21. To be fair, they won't be driving far, Costas are like cockroaches! In Weston we currently have 5 with one more on its way, all within about 5 miles of each other!
  22. Presumably that's the total for the entire country, which would equate to roughly 20% of the 2018 average for Heathrow arrivals alone... https://www.heathrow.com/company/about-heathrow/performance/airport-operations/traffic-statistics
  23. Meanwhile, in France... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-56716708 Two and a half hours by train, that's what, London to Brighton on our railways
  24. Definitely nothing to see here!!
  25. If it is going to be an issue, it's only going to happen in a couple of weeks time when they open up international travel - I get that they want to introduce testing, isolations etc etc but I think we all know how succesful they will be! At the moment our international travel is barely happening - I can't remember the last time I saw a plane fly over from Bristol or Cardiff airports - but no doubt as soon as it opens up we'll start to see the SA variant, whether it's as damaging as the claims being made is something we'll have to wait and see....
