What about those kids living in poverty whose only hot meal a day is the one they get at school? If they get sent home from school, they are unlikely to eat, if they don't eat, they will die. It's not just about GCSE's....

Shop assistants, lorry drivers, warehouse pickers - surely these are 'key workers' who will keep Soggy's local supermarket shelves fully stocked? People will die if they don't eat apparently....

You're all over the place pal! Your point seems to be that thousands of children pose a greater risk than you because you are just one bloke! One bloke that happened to be in a 'packed' supermarket with hundreds of other people, but that's OK because you don't have any symptoms and need to shop! Can you explain how you are going to do your shopping when they close the schools down and all the people who currently work in the shop where you are buying your food and all those in the supply chain that gets the food to your shop, are all off work because they have to look after their children who are not at school despite having no symptoms? Are you so hell bent on blaming the Tories that you cannot see that closing the schools will have knock on adverse effects? Ordinarily, grandparents would help with child care during school closures but that's not an option at the moment is it?

Surely by your own twisted logic, panic buying is a very good thing? Surely, the fact that people have panicked and stocked up means that they won't have to go to the shops for a number of days or even weeks. Thus, less people making fewer 'unnecessary' trips. Your other argument also seems biblically stupid, even for you! And this is why the Italian model of complete isolation won't work - there will always be people who will be wandering around spreading the virus, so when the world returns to normal, there will be no immunity for those that have hidden away and they will start all over again.... If you are a home owner with a sizeable mortgage which you have comfortably paid whilst working (employed or self employed) to suddenly have your income cut to £94.25 per week means something is going to have to give. Granted, you can get the basics to live off with the money but I suspect the bank manager won't be happy to live without his money for long, never mind the numerous contracts - mobile, broadband, sky etc etc - that have been entered into in good faith and were previously affordable... However, the government will only subsidise SSP for TWO WEEKS and that's only for businesses with less than 250 employees. Then it will be up to employers to foot the bill - if the economy is shut down, how are small businesses going to afford this?

One question.... Are people dying "as a result" of the virus - i.e severe symptoms that are directly attributable to the virus - or are people dying (which is a natural occurence) but also test positive for the virus, or is it a combination of the two? If it is the latter then the number of people dying who also have the virus is going to increase dramatically as the rate of infection across the nation increases. Given that about 1400 people die in the UK every day (I guess slightly more are born every day), then as the rate of infection rises to around 60-80% of the population, then statistically 840 to 1100 people will die every day who also test positive for the virus, which is obviously an enormous number but doesn't necassarily increase the natural number of people dying every day... Is there any research / statistical information that says how many people are currently dying as a result of the virus in addition to the base line mortality rate?

I'm under no illusion that this is not Boris's doing! He is taking his advice from the qualified people who know far better than him! So, tell us, how should they go about 'getting things under control'?

It's a contagious, airbourne virus with no current vaccine. Enlighten us, how exactly is it possible to 'get things under control'?
