  1. Er, yes it was there in the 90's.... '91 I think it gained 'university' status - along with countless other polytechnics.
  2. No wonder the country's screwed if its entire economic predictions were entrusted to just one person - and that person only got a 2:2 in History
  3. There may be trouble ahead..... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-43951405
  4. Not sure that should be the biggest concern for a team with no balls....
  5. Cheers - looks like I can save 10%, well, maybe if their website can stop producing errors!!!
  6. Anybody have any discount codes - or know where to find them - for Red Funnel car ferry? Heading to IoW for a break with the Mrs in May and would prefer to travel from Southampton rather than Portsmouth (easier to get to from ours). Currently coming up with £109 for a return trip (short stay) so anything we can save on that would be a bonus
  7. First run out on the summer bike this morning - didn't realise how much I missed the Di2 and seamless gear changes Was wetter than expected so I've now got two bikes to strip and wash, both covered in dirt and grit, joy!
  8. Just having a look at train times - can anyone confirm that I'm not doing it wrong and that there is only one train per hour to / from Wembley and Northolt Park Station?
  9. 6 weeks since I last went on the bike - I honestly thought it was only three! Really, really tough going and legs gave up after 31 miles! Struggled on for another 6 miles and then had to limp home with nothing left in them! Hope they come back to life for tomorrow!
  10. Technically non-existent if we went down - assuming the 'parachute' payments are not classed as 'premier league (TV rights) money' Perhaps that's the master plan after all???
  11. He's not being described as permanent but 'until the end of the season' which is covered in brackets in para's 1 & 2 : http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43403577 Also para 4 relies on official info from the club : https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-03-14/announcement-mark-hughes-new-southampton-manager
  12. Not really. Most of us have said all along that the only possible outcome is that we will be leaving and we won't be leaving with any sort of agreement! There are just too many fingers in too many pies for anything else to happen. You, on the other hand, don't seem to accept that this is the reality....
  13. Still waiting for you to enlighten us with what constitutes an accurate sample. So far we are somewhere between a couple of relatives in Italy and 0.02% of the population.... Surely it's not hard for someone with your obvious intellect and statistical training to put a figure on it?
  14. I honestly have no idea, my suspicion is that it would be more than 0.02% of the population if you are trying to accurately gauge the opinions of a nation! I'm sure you'll enlighten me and dazzle with your astounding intellect! You've conveniently glossed over the fact that there is no mention of the demographics that were sampled - again, I'm not an expert but surely some reference to this should be made, if the adverts for cat food or shampoo can mention who they've polled, you'd assume a statistical body would be able to rustle up the info! Finally, I'm pretty sure Hypo's post that you were replying to was referring to this weekend's developments in Germany vis-a-vis Merkel and the AFD. Not sure he mentioned Hungary or last March's elections....
  15. I'll be honest, I don't understand why you put so much stock in them! But, please feel free to enlighten me as to how you can base that statement on 'statistical sampling' results that are coming up to a year out of date (a week is an awful long time in politics!), have been based on a sample of less than 10,000 people in the UK (or for 'statistical' purposes less than 0.02% of the population) and make no mention to the demographics that were 'sampled'?
  16. Not sure that's entirely indicative!! What do they say - lies damn lies and statistics?
  17. I think you've proven that you're not p.s. there was no 'election', imagined or otherwise, just a 'referendum'
  18. This line is the only one that you need to read from Portugal - the one about the 'imaginary' intelligent winning the 'imaginary' election! Almost as mental as Verbal
  19. It's not looking good for the weekend!! Forecast to get colder http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-43199496
  20. Meh! Sore knees for the last couple of weeks - apparently I've got 'angry knees'! Had a couple of weeks off and they are getting better. Took the time today to strip the rear hub on my Ultegra wheels - what a mess! I guess the 'weather' seals haven't been particularly weather proof! Watched a video on how to do it and it took ten minutes in that, took me the best part of three hours! I did strip the rear cassette, cleaned that and changed the winter / summer bike wheels which I had previously swapped at the same time! Hoping to get a weekend's riding in next week before having another cyst removed from my head the following week, which will mean 3 or 4 stitches and another weekend off! Fingers crossed it won't still be in the minus figures by the end of the week!
  21. And yet your very first post in this thread exclaimed that Paxman was "spot on"! Please explain how reducing the vote of someone over 70 to one third the value of someone else is not 'advocating taking the vote from the old"? Anything that does away with the "one person, one vote" system that we currently have is surely taking something away from someone?
  22. Pretty stupid suggestion by Paxman to be fair! What he seems to have forgotten is that 'young' voters will eventually become 'old' voters. The phrase 'turkeys voting for Christmas' springs to mind
