  1. Mate, have completed my move back to Singapore, in Bangkok for the next two weeks though. See you for the Arsenal game
  2. My thought exactly
  3. So what I don't understand for months we have heard them whittle ring on about the integrity of the league and how they should be allowed to sign players "to compete"' ( never quite got this as surely any team in any league that is bottom of the league is not "competitive". However, they have signed this current crop of over paid mercenaries on the never never, what happens at the end of the month when they can't afford them. The likes of Bompey, Colchester and Oldham are playing these guys now whereas the likes of Stevenage, Crawley end up playing the players they should be playing now. How does that protect the integrity of the competition? Surely the FL should be making sure that they can afford to pay these players for the whole season
  4. Steve Davis if fit
  5. F**k I even bought eggs was going to do gypsy toast
  6. Don't know the ins and outs of the home grown rule but based on the definition quoted on here, wouldn't Hargreaves also by the quirk of the fact he came through Bayern Munich's youth system, be deemed non homegrown
  7. Trick I have tried a couple of times is to put it in the airing cupboard in a sealed container full of dried rice for three or four days. Worked for me.
  8. Everyone keeps talking about the 25 Squad members but my understanding is that players under the age of 21 years of age are not counted, we can have as many as we want in the squad. So young goalie(if we sign one) Ward-Prowse, Shaw, Stephens don't count towards the squad
  9. Personally like Davis and agree with others on here that he has vastly improved in the last two years. Having said that don't think we should be signing anyone for any position as a back up. Anyone we sign has to make the squad better and be able to push even the senior players for their place from day one. We don't really have any players, perhaps Connolly excepted, that are proven premier league players, we have one or two that have flirted in the premier league and played a season there or parts of a season there but that is about it. Please do not misread this as me believing that none of them can make it either. I think we have a number of players that could and will do well and of course I hope they do. Kelvin for me is our clear number one, but do feel a bit concerned that he is not quite good enough for the premier league and may struggle, think we need to be signing someone that will be pushing Kelvin hard for the number one position, if we can't bring in someone that can potentially replace Kelvin within this season I don't think we should bring in anyone. Would rather see us struggle with the existing squad than see us bloat the squad with a number of second rate "understudies" who are never going to be good enough.
  10. Thanks again. See you all again in 2014!
  11. SaintDavey will see you at the Dog and Bone then
  12. saintdavey, where are you staying then? I am definetly up for meeting up next week end.
  13. As is says on the tin Goal TV Channel 1 showing both games live. Anybody going to be in Singapore next week want to meet up to watch the Pompey game?
  14. Hi Jonjapan. I speak Japanese ok but my reading is limited to menus only. I am living in Shimo-Kitazawa though so would definately be inclined to meet with fellow Saints in Tokyo here to watch games.
  15. Ooops what a **** forgot the link. Still is nearly midnight here http://www.sportsclubstats.com/England/ChampionshipLeague.html
  16. Middlesbrough and Brighton also have fairly tough run ins. Personally looking at these fixture and predicting results, I see us getting 20 points from these games. If I had to predict other results I see Reading getting 14 points and West Ham getting 17 points. Reading is a big game but reckon we will win that although will be tight. This is one of the better stat sites I have seen. Has us 90% chance of being promoted and 60% chance of being champions from here. Down to ourselves now. I think we will lose games but others will lose more
  17. 44 Years old. Live in Tokyo, Japan. Was born and grew up in Southampton. First home game was Oldham at home in 1977 the year we last got promoted to top division. First away game I think was Nottingham Forest in the cup. We won but cannot remember the score, was 1984 and I seem to remember Steve Moran the score, vaguely remember it was 2-1. Last time I saw a game live was Orient away last year. Next game is going to be Reading at St Mary's next month. "Cant wait, wont wait"

    McDonald's

If you are in Japan check out Freshness Burger. Much better. They have one or two outlets in Hong Kong and Singapore now
  19. 100% agree with this. Any other company extending credit to another company has to do the same thing, why shouldn't football clubs.
  20. Not sure of the exact legal situation where tax is involved. My wife's grandfather gifted us 25K GBP 10 years ago after he sold his house. No tax payable if he survived beyond 7 years ( he did by the way old bugger is 94years old in October.) I seem to remember if he died before the seven years was up could no longer be considered a gift and we would have to pay tax on it at 40% as overall estate was valued at over 250K which is not a lot for anyone owning a house.
  21. Have to say a lot more people have been interested around the office about English Football and Southampton in particular in the last couple of weeks. The Japanese are not really into EPL in quite the same way as locals in other parts of Asia like Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore or Indonesia, baseball is by far the most important sport here. Maybe it is just that they know I am aSouthampton supporter but definitely a different vibe here now. Still do not see the locals decking out the office with the flag of Saint George or Union Jack in a hurry though, or too many other Saints shirts when we do our monthly event when every one wears the sports colors to work day.
  22. Not a lawyer but did do some study on tax laws 20 odd years ago and I know there have been some challenges through the European Court of Human Rights but the burden of proof in tax invasion cases used to be different than other criminal cases. i.e. you are not necessarily presumed innocent and hence there is to a larger degree a requirement on the defendent to actually prove themselves innocent and less onus for the authorities to prove the defendent guilty. Certianly know this still applies in some countries around the world but not up to date on UK law. Wonder if we have some legal eagles on here who would know for sure
  23. Have to say the guy does sound a bit of a nutter, but if true I agree, about time one of these multi- millionaires gives something back to the game that has made them wealthy. Fantastic gesture.
  24. Cork for me
