- Ensure there are no strong contenders for the position. Who gave Phillips his gateway mars bar? Who told Henderson that the LGBT community would be fine with his move? Now you know. - Establish yourself in an attacking role, in an attacking team. The media love an attacking full back - Make the attacking team one that the media fawns over for 50 years. - Even better if managed by bestest manager ever. Who could doubt his tactical genius? - With the above in place, when you're found out in your original position, it's hard to be dropped. Suggest a move to an injury ridden part of the team.

I can't begin to imagine having your sleep linked with Southampton having a safe pair of gloves in goal. You poor person. My thoughts are with you. π

Just stop oil protestors throw soup over Van Gogh masterpiece

I was looking at it, off the back of a previous post (honest gov) "Net Zero is pushing up bills, damaging British industries like steel, and making us less secure. We can protect our environment with more tree planting, more recycling and less single use plastics. New technology will help, but we must not impoverish ourselves in pursuit of unaffordable, unachievable global CO2 target." Headlines- scrap net zero and renewable subsidies; grant North sea licenses and later invest in modular reactors. -

Could we instead help them embody their stance? Say take everything they own, such as clothes, devices(including screens), transportation, exterior/interiors of homes and paint them a permanent orange? Help them live their protest? I can't believe I didn't spot Farage behind all those climate summits, while pulling the strings of every major government, industry and financial hub since the industrial revolution. There was me going to question calls to assault someone. -

SOG's only making plans for Nigel He only wants what's best for him SOG's views are the only right ones Nigel just needs a helping hand But if that Nigel says he's happy He can't be happy Because SOG's views are the only ones that work -
Is that the rumour having legs, or can we be optimistic that Lallana still has some? π

Second half much like the first. He puts in a shift, but is a bit isolated. A support striker looking for a partner. Gunn, Ralston, Hanley and Henry all have a massive error waiting to happen. Put them together... He was covering for someone else's error at the time too. Blighted with injuries, and hope he recovers soon.
-
I was never going to pass that one up. π

Ralston, who normally looks as though he has a mistake in him, gifts the chance for a Swiss equaliser. Adams hasn't had much of the ball, but is showing some decent movement.

Well remembered.

I guess Sunak's plan must be to bring back the lost Reform votes and move a little less to the right, once they're back. After all, if you believe some folk, Starmer worked his way through an antisemitic Labour party he really wanted to distance himself from as far as possible, so he could move them from their extremes. Or is this yet another example of it being fine if it's the side being agreed with, and horrid if it's the side that isn't agreed with? π

If I was the breadwinner, and worked in a mine or a factory or similar, Trump has just directly connected to the well-being of my family and its future, in the above example. His personality, immigration, closeness with Putin and everything else may just have to take a back seat, for a while. All the democrats had to do was elect someone even slightly relatable (ruling out Clinton) and not at death's door (I've no idea how Biden keeps going) as their candidate. Someone willing to leverage USA's strength to benefit as many of its citizens as possible. Instead, there's been no self awareness, no review of just how necessary or corrupt it's systems are, and lots of abuse aimed at the other side. That Trump is capable of running anyone close, is a sign of how much the Democrats have failed.
-
Some might look at responses which demonise anyone not in full agreement, as a bit thick. But that can't be right, because the side doing the demonising is so much more intelligent. The most vocal keep telling us so anyway. π

I'd be surprised if I looked at their manifesto, and didn't find things I agreed with. Much the same as I find with everyone else's manifesto. They wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't offer some reach from their perceived position. The devil is how they go about it, what I'd actually be allowing in and weighing it with other policies that I'm very much against. Again, just the same as the others. That's what I've found in the last couple of elections anyway.

Ah but Nigel will simply "just give some people what they want to hear and they will swallow it hook, line and sinker." Discerning voters obviously would never fall for such things. When their party does it, it must be for excellent reasons, which of course they notice every time. People disagreed with = always bad People agreed with doing exactly the same thing = doing it for the right reasons. Well done them for playing the system. Stunning lack of self awareness with some people.

Martin already indicated that Che is likely to get more attractive offers financially. Any half decent PL offer is likely to beat ours. SR will have weighed up keeping the individual wages down, against losing a known quantity and possibly having to recruit a replacement.

I thought Ings would see out his Β£120k deal, and then look to get a last pay day somewhere else.

I remember that Mendieta link. π It was only a season or two after we were in talks with Bierhoff.

Martin needed a striker willing to drop back, create, hold up and then also get onto the end of passes. Paul didn't suit that system. Sule has pace to burn. But it's wasted in a system that allowed defences to drop back, while we created passing angles. Alcaraz is another one whose natural game suffered. No reason why any of them can't develop. With Alcaraz, I think there was a bit of frustration on both sides. Perraud is possibly another one. It's a lot of money to invest and not use. Just shows the massive financial impact on not having a consistent system/manager in place.

81 million. 2 seasons at 35 and 1 at 13. The forest article I saw had them at 61 million.

An interview I caught yesterday asked some questions on tax rises. The labour representative wouldn't be drawn, and then also indicated a growing economy would be picking up the difference. Like links to Corbyn, Labour will say as little as possible and get it over the line. And to be balanced, the Conservatives have kept very quiet too on rises to come. Like @Weston and @Egg say, it would be nice for some transparency/ honesty. Being lied to by omission, is just rather sad. Expecting something better from any of them seems pointless. Some of that is down to them knowing the impact of honesty on getting votes. Labour will have plenty to do, and every rise will be used as a giant stick by their opposition. Their own clock will be ticking as soon as they are in. It won't be long before they are deflecting their own record, blaming what they inherited. Internally, there is already pressure to do more. But it's not funded.

I was picking up on "It really doesnβt matter. It was 5 years ago and has no bearing on what is happening now." That clearly indicates a view that the past doesn't matter. Which is the opposite of what Starmer himself said. A few further posts were also discussing scrutiny applying to all.
