  1. There have been one or two better ones recently. I was thinking it was just a fluke, but could they actually be working on these (finally)?
  2. Yeees! That's why Mo is indespinsible for us and we'll be lost without him next season! 🙂
  3. Good work from Theo. Gets the ball in. Noone there of course, but that's what the others have to be getting on the end of. A move that shows the massive tactical gaps in the team.
  4. He was never going to turn it down. His chance to manage in a top league, after years of being a coach? And after being given lots of encouragement from SR to bring in his ideas with Ralph, as well as no doubt lots of "I could do this better" when working with jones.
  5. Just damage control from him. He's saying to other prospective clubs that he not really wanting toback to being a coach, having now had managerial experience at one of the world's top leagues under his belt. It's also why his tactics are identikit, and why his press conferences are interchangeable. Consistent, doesn't shop and change tactics or panic, and can show new clubs the spreadsheets on why this is really successful, and it's our recruitment that was the problem/ he had little time to reshape the squad to his liking.
  6. There will be a spreadsheet for new wage bill for new/ reduced terms in Championship, and selling on to Premier Legue clubs from that level, to maximise that profit. Just a bit ruined by us getting taken over as a Premier League club and losing all that broadcasting/ commercial revenue.
  7. Makes a change from Loose Passes 🙂
  8. Lovely goal. But boy, did we mess it up. I was just typing away about the rawness of Alcaraz results in ruining attacks by sloppy passing. Then Lavia is brushed aside and we can;t get back quickly enough to prevent a really good ball, and haven;t tracked the scorer, because we'd all moved up field. Incredibly sloppy, and a clear example of where wer'e tactically naive. We don;t comit numbers when we're in a good attack. We are sloppy in passing, and our coaches never compensate for those risks, and we are absolute suckers on the counter.
  9. Just tells me that Mo has been wasted, not being played up front. 🙂
  10. Not part of the manual. Don't commit. Control the space. FOrce them into making an error. Or as we do, take up a space regardless of the threat/ position, allow shots to go in and hope our 'keepers are up to it, or they blaze over. Just another reason why RalphBall2.0 and SellesBall go wrong. Drop back to hold and break, allows a lot of very good finishers to have chances with a lighter ball at closer ranges.
  11. Nice work from Theo, but a showboating finish that doesn;t come close.
  12. Lyanco backing off, as per manaula, as opposed to dealing with the actual threat? It was going at pace, and McCarthy couldn;t get down in time. Not sure if he could/should have, although it doesn;t look great for a keeper to let one in under him.
  13. 18 in 92 for Rangers and she's not a striker, although had to play up front a fair bit. So, he's got as much chance, if nto more, than our usual band of bottlers.
  14. A while ago pointed out that Bree had high assist/creative stats in the championship, while Aribo was getting ready for a Europa final. Both not near our team, and not because their repalcements are better.
  15. If our players trusted their delivery, and wanted to change momentum in the game, get it in there. But no. Far better to create nothing from further back.
  16. Brighton on a break, get 6 up there, but get it across early and take a shot. We break up the park, fewer options, but Aribo in there. We choose to pass it back and across. COuld have put a ball in, but played it safe.
  17. Bednerak comedy slip and we are very, very lucky to get away with that. Not the best of passes from McCarthy either.
  18. Promising that we got a good attack in, and it's not just Brighton who can catch us on the break.
  19. Good chance there. Wrong option taken in the end by Theo. You could see what he was trying, but Alcaraz blazed it.
  20. I'm in the conservative camp of preferring a manager who has seen it and done it. Not only at the level we're at, but at the level above. Someone who has a working knowledge of success at a level we can aspire to. While we may not be capable quite teaching those heights, we will have a solid groundwork in place to stretch for those standards. I'm naturally a little down, if the manager hasn't been a consistent success. But that's a passing thing. There are so many different circumstances, that it's simply not going to work out everywhere. Having some success/ progress at a good level is important. Strachan is a good benchmark. I wasn't gutted when he was hired, but was disappointed. He's just taken Coventry down. But he'd made progress with them the season before, and I quite liked their approach. Strachan had also worked with numerous top managers and had been a successful player at those clubs, in Europe and internationally. Martin played at an excellent level (if not at the top), and has been an international. He's had a good managerial career so far too. Norwich were abject to watch when he played and capitulated regularly in the Premier League. The soundbites I heard from him during one interview of that were cringe worthy. But it would be incredibly unfair to judge an incoming manager on him as a player, and be was the one to sick his head over the trench for the interview. What's more important is that I don't think he's had the experience at the level of club we need to get to, both to have the ruthless winning mentality to get up and stay up. That's not to say we can't be successful under him. Just that there are some extra hurdles. Handily, Rasmus has given us 2 recent managers I've been more disappointed with. And I've the memory of having my Strachan disappointment turned to delight. I can only hope the standards Martin knows to set show the squad what's required.
