  1. Can't make out the Subbuteo set they are making their decisions around.
  2. "Simon Fanshawe, one of the original founders of Stonewall who has since become concerned that the charity has lost its way, is similarly pessimistic about the Diversity Champions programme’s future. “It was a very good idea when it started,” says Fanshawe, who is now rector of the University of Edinburgh, “because it was simply saying to organisations, ‘Are you making sure that if gay people apply to you they won’t be discriminated against? And secondly, if they are in the organisation are they having an ok time?’ “I can see why it’s been an earner. But the problem is that it is no longer a signifier at work that you’re treating people fairly. “It’s now become a signifier about whether you’re compliant with a certain set of ideological views.” Sadly, looking to associate with such a well known name to further diversity, has just opened organisations up to pressure to enact all changes within Stonewall's programmes, whether they have any legal or scientific basis or not. The sector I'm in has removed a number of large companies from their top 100 inclusivity index. They aren't any less inclusive. There's lots of good work going on for all employees. They have just distanced themselves from Stonewall. There's a bit of relief all round as companies can take control, focus on their employees experience and look at best practice from a range of sources.
  3. That's the spirit! Between now and full time tonight we we will be completely unbeaten. 🙂
  4. Nice to see football being inclusive. As long as it's one of the campaigns they've bought into. Perhaps an "All Religions Matter" campaign where players take up a variety of prayer positions around the centre circle at the start of every game? Aethists can do freeform miming, such as pretending to go for a brisk walk, or texting. Plenty of religious hatred in the world for them to stand up against. Almost without exception these stories single out an individual and their non compliance with a campaign, in a negative way. We then get quotes from activist groups. Only at the end of the quotes or article do they say they respect an individual's choice. Clearly that's never the case, as there wouldn't be an article or activist quotes and pressure. I note that it's for a Stonewall campaign. A group who have done great work, but who are more and more also in it for the cash, as cited by the droves of employers leaving their diversity campaign capture and the not all altruistic reasons for adding a T to LGB. Meanwhile we can keep people feeling welcomed, included and safe at games by being welcoming, inclusive and respectful. Gimmicks optional.
  5. Fortunately, thanks to Nathan we can all speak fluent Footballing Welsh. "Oooooh, lovely." "Niiice" "That's not my team" "I was brave taking over for the Liverpool game." "I don't count the Liverpool game."
  6. Two sets of fans united in their admiration and love for a football pioneer. I hope that the fans claims on things like who passes it the most before giving it away and conceding, and most time spent by a striker getting it from defence are done in good natured banter.
  7. A chance to show Swansea the evolution of Martin's possession based game we've all been enjoying.
  8. Wishing him a speedy and full recovery. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Also good luck to Richard Dryden, one of those stepping up while Tommy recovers.
  9. Never mind his finishing or his ability in the opponent's box. Can he track back to provide an extra man in midfield for some sideways transitions? 🙂
  10. I think that the hardest workers in society are often under valued and certainly under remunerated. Documentaries covering the industrial changes across the decades have shown that the jam mines were a happy working environment, enabling communities to literally stick together. Unlike so many other industries, there has been no suggestion of improper use of tickling sticks. But that still leaves those financial rewards. The Diddymen co-operative did diversify into the 1980's floatation of Arthur Askey's Treacle Mines, opening up global trade, from which they all still benefit.
  11. I can only hope that when you next reach for a jam butty, that you celebrate the brave, hard working diddymen who mined it for our tables and for our nation.
  12. That's a bit of a slur against Ken Dodd and his diddymen, as wholesome and entertaining a comedian who made generations laugh as you could get. That was during times where there were many racist jokes far more to the mainstream. His stance on this subject is beyond reproach.
  13. I'd like to point out that Saintsweb in no way encourages vaudeville related physical comedy or skits. We feel that there is no room in our society for pie throwing, collapsible props or banana skins. We have plenty of bananas skins just watching our own team. Saintsweb feel we are aiding the wider public by keeping our clowns to the technical area.
  14. We need all the help we can get. Besides, with the number of players Chelsea stockpile, they're the one club who would like to be able to play with more players at a time. 🙂
  15. I was using a figure of 11 million for a Champ season. So, we've already gained 4 million! Things are looking up. 🙂
  16. When we go down, that's going to limit what we can spend on baseline PSR (unless the rules change). Somewhere around a 57 million mark across 3 seasons. Giving away 12 of that to RM is a significant percentage, which would have to be offset by player sales etc. To those who think we can stay up, with a different manager, then that would be worth the risk. I can only imagine that SR:- Aren't prepared to take the financial hit. Or Have given RM the season, if not more, before any break clauses kick in, or his contract is reduced enough to take the hit. Or are seeing things they like in the underlying data, and are actually willing to build that up over a few seasons under RM (a very rare project job that's given the time). And RM will be able to point to some things, if SR have bought into this approach (and RM successfully hides what's happening with Pep, who they aspire to be) In addition: Are aware, that despite lots of investment, the squad is missing 2 key first team roles as well as being weak yet still bloated. Are also happy they have sell on players in Fernandes, THB and Dibling meeting one of their core criteria.
  17. It's the least I can do to dress as Biggles while singing Vera Lynn songs on my commute into work, in tribute to our brave, brave club. So plucky in the face of overwhelming adversity.
  18. He's still here. He appeared in a League Cup game, where he delivered some very nice passes from defence through the middle, which gets us looking forward, rather than back and across our defence. Other than that appearance, he's not featured.
  19. Superhero
  20. It's the big issue, not just for football, but ethically too. Do the 10 Stephens clones that RM has been growing in vats have to be registered individually, or do they all just count as one?
  21. Much better than 5 from 13! Weston for manager! Oh wait, you said "posts" not "points"... darn...
