The defence and midfield isn't any surprise. Like everyone else, AA centrally hasn't worked before. Perhaps this will be different or Still will just be the latest to give him a try there, before putting him wider. Fraser vanished from proceedings last season. Hopefully Still has him back to when he joined us. If nothing else, I'm just looking forward to seeing us more proactive in games and having the fitness to do that at a decent pace.

The Beeb calling it controversial, while going on about intent. The BBC verify that they trot out, could spend a couple of mins looking at the current rules.

I'd agree with that. At the same time, SR's model is to pay low individual wages. There are positive and perfectly natural reasons for that. But they shouldn't be surprised when players change their minds when other clubs come in for them or when players run down contracts. Likewise, when they are well down their list and every player on it wants more. That's what their agents are for, after all. As for youngsters, SR actively encourage selling them on, if the fee is matched. Again, there's some good reasons for this. We're not giving them away. Away from the first team, other clubs do offer more for top talented youngsters. But we're part of that food chain too. Again, there are some good reasons not to destabilise the rewards every time they'd like to keep someone.

Absolutely. In fairness to all of his SR predecessors, I don't think any of them got to field a team where they had all of the key pieces. Hopefully, this can change for Still.

Birmingham worked very hard right across the team. No suprise they kept Ipswich down to 0 shots on target until the penalty. Harried them, closed down space and put in a load of cynical tackles, that the ref was happy with from both sides sides. Dykes should never have had his arm up there. Unfortunate the ball hit it, but can't have complaints. Hopefully our data analysts can work at giving Will lots of work rate data, as our lot have a lot more effort to put in that they showed last season.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Holmes_and_Watson replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
I learned all the tricks reading Mike's Mini-Men. Later, when I added my robotics degree to my one in bionics, I combined my Mini-Men with General Jumbo. I'm now on retainer to the armed forces, as about the only force they can deploy without overspend or US maintenance. Which, I concede, has had an impact on UK defence companies, slowing all that economic growth I keep reading about (Yes! Back on topic!) -

We'd later learn that a good heart was hard to find. But that was just when I got my degree in bionics. -
Hopefully, the "dh" in the title doesn't stand for "Duckhunter" π

Breaking news: Police make arrests as Lowe supporters riot having not understood "pedalo" in his anti-migrant cries.

VA's last 15 minutes mirrored LBC's opening 15. Both defences needed to head clear to avoid easy head ins from incoming attackers, and both put in a shot that brought out a save. As one of the League favourites , VA won't be striking terror into too many from that opening performance. Both sides' final deliveries and shots were well below where they should be. There wasn't much in the way of good passing moves, with LBC probably coming out on top there. VA can look to finishing the stronger, but still need to gel and improve. Rento had a fairly lively 10 mins or so. He looked quicker than most, and nearly put a ball across the face of goal for a tap in. We'll be seeing more of him in upcoming games.

They are installed in all French grounds, as every one of their forums has a pantalon. π

Good way of describing it. I saw a leisurely 20 minutes, with neither 'keeper troubled. LBC having marginally the better of it. They had a header that needed to be cleared. They also had a dangerous free kick. It went off the wall and the follow up is now part of the French Space Program. VA had a shot from distance and a looping long range effort that the 'keeper had covered and put over. VA offside quite a bit. They were too busy sulking about one of them as LBC launched an attack. Hopefully VA decide to turn up a bit more for the second 45.

I tuned in on 25mins, with the clock still going, only to find someone had stolen the players! ... Drinks break. π

SOG can regale them with his workplace story of how he did nothing while his boss made jokes about squirting breast milk. He's a danger to every bandwagon he jumps on.

Thanks for the table update, Turkish. Since The Guardian seems to want to harvest lots of data, before letting me read anything, I've been relying on SOG's post to find out what to be outraged at.

Just the scowly expression that Baz is a master of. π

Saints certainly managed to cut my rate of interest last season. π -
I remember the days before AI invaded SaintsWeb. Back then, we weren't divided into the awesome, witty, national treasures who made top ten lists and...whatever comprised that other lot. π I remember the day after that, when everyone realised it really hadn't changed anything, just given posters one more thing to wind each other up about.

Of course, it could just be that theyβreβ¦ well-adjusted. π Who let a well-adjusted person join?! -
Remember my post on Skynet? Didn't stop to think what might have pushed it over the edge? π

Obviously, I'll be leveraging these AI results to get paid for my posts and [The rest of this post has been deleted by @Lighthouse: Mod and Number One on the Top Ten Posters on SaintsWeb (Overall), and don't you forget it.]

I'm glad none of the rest of us were frustrated, exasperated or disappointed enough with our relegations to put up mild posts on the match threads. π

It's come a long way, but AI clearly not sophisticated enough to understand Turkish. But on the plus side, despite being exposed to the worst of humanity, ChatGPT is too innocent to believe that CB Fry's scorn is 100% genuine. π

Based on this thread, I have decided to embrace Skynet and its AIs, safe in the knowledge that nothing can go wrong. π

I'm sure that, like that list of hard done to fans left out Liverpool, this list left you out to give the rest of us a chance. π
