They should. But, if we play one up front, Adams would walk back into the side ahead of anything we have. That's the Adams who was a support striker and who SR would have parted with in their first window. TP should be better in the air, BBD more of a unit from deep, Archer the better finisher. AA the better work rate. But Adams' all round game is much better than any of them. Something that was clear under Martin the last time we were in the Championship. BBD and Archer struck me as the deals SR scrambled to get across the line when their first option fell through. Neither replaced Adams. At best, AA is decent at Champ level to support someone else we bring in. Stewart takes up a squad place, but can't be relied upon to stay fit.

SR look to keep the wages on those individuals as low as they can. That seems to override any sense of squad management. For example, our numbers at left back, left midfield or multiple forwards when our main targets get better offers. That seems to apply to their managers too. And after receiving the Medal of Modesty, trousers remained to receive a second Wisdom of the Window medal. 🙂 I see I loaded my 6.5-7 with lots of "if" caveats. Still, ooft though. 🙂 I should ditch my pre season optimism, ask if we've replaced Romeu yet, and if not, give it a "1" rating. 🙂

Summary: We've no forwards with the work rate or fitness levels to close down, let alone form a press. We've no midfield. No one that can form a link with our forwards and certainly no one who can control or stop our opponents. We've a defence that comes with at least one individual error per game in each of them. So the last thing you want to do is invite pressure onto them. If it wasn't for our 'keeper being quite good, I'd worry we might struggle. 🙂

Absolutely. But I'd prefer us starting with people who've been where we want to be.

I'd not mind us starting from a list of managers with proven experience of where we'd like to be, and work out way down. As opposed from picking yet another "gem" from the lower leagues.

I'd keep AA ahead of pretty much everyone else we have. Definitely in a support role, but our out and out forwards have proved to be little better. TP, Archer, Stewart, Fraser, Dibling, Edozie, Sule, BBD, Ballard.

His work rate alone, lifted us as a Championship team. Some of his early goals were from tight angles from cutbacks. We relied on his individual ability to rise above some of the RussBall flaws. Then, as mentioned, were all his goals and assists. There's no reason, given some half decent SR recruitment around him, he can't be good for us next season.
