Nice to see our bastion of free speech continue his crusade. Wanting to jail posters who criticise you (and it's never been the subject) is a bit of mask slipping.

Martin has to portray a massive amount of self belief. His absolute commitment to his style helps a lot there. That self belief, and the ego that goes with it, has to carry everyone at the club in the same direction. Hopefully his staff are equally committed, sharing and promoting that. We get to see the cringy things, where the club are wanting to show their togetherness. But there's a lot more interaction that we don't see. Martin's well aware of the criticism, from fans, internally and pundits. But the results shape everything. He's having to defend the basics of what he's hinged his career on. That's going to direct those interviews. And there's a load of them, where he's being asked the same things. If we were winning, we'd be seeing him keeping the ego in check, being glowing about others while waiting for a bigger job offer. Instead, we're bound to get prickly answers considering where we are. I saw Martin do post match interviews as a Norwich player. They were full of clichรฉd nonsense, and I remember being happy he wasn't spouting that rubbish at my club, after a resounding defeat. He's now having to own what's going on, and we'll see that pressure on his answers.

You've clearly managed to get over that Branfoot Twerking video, having dropped MLT, more quickly than I have. ๐

I don't follow anyone's social media, but it doesn't seem unusual for someone to put up a holiday pic?

On day 1 if he had bought a ping pong table, only to burn it in front of them, we would have done better. More so, if we added in radical mood shifts. ๐

Saints 2-3 Liverpool - Match Thread

A 2-0 win for us. A forward thinking Liverpool gets undone by a auto passing move that goes from deep to AA who tucks it in. We miss a second chance to do the same, leading to a nervy game. But THB gets a late set pieces header to seal the points. Worst case I read that Liverpool eased off once the win is secured under this manager. So, a plucky defeat is possible. But even with this scenario, we sneak a draw with that late THB header. Whatever the scenario, Lallana is fined a week's wages. Not for exchanging shirts with Liverpool. But on insisting THB then tries it on, to see how it feels. -
New guitar, advice appreciated.

Southampton: The club that keeps giving. Learn along with Long Having been offside so often, he always goes early to lessons too. -
Awww. There was an article the other day that said they were smitten kittens. Pleased for them. And if the relationship has stood him telling her about how he led the team she supports to another defeat, then it will hopefully stand the test of time.

He seems to have been like this consistently. Changing now, when he's been so focused on process rather than result, would lose him the squad. I see that players, from their body language, find it a bit cringe too, but go along as it's their boss. No doubt preferable to a shouty, inconsistent boss though.

Things that annoy you about Kit Kats

I'd never mix biscuits with chocolate bars in the same list. Even chocolate covered biscuits. They live in separate containers in the kitchen, not to be mixed. ๐ -

Things that annoy you about Kit Kats
Holmes_and_Watson replied to Stripey McStripe Shirt's topic in The Lounge
1. Kit Kats were developed in Portsmouth. The seemingly random number of fingers are stuck together as it was cheaper than having chocolate webbing between them. 2. Classic Kit Kat's appeal to an older market, looking for a refined product that is also easier on dentures. 3. Rumour has it that these are now detected on the production line, and sold to collectors through the Dark (chocolate) Web. 4. Kit Kat foil was identified as being used by MLT to make tin foil hats. The makers stopped using it for reputational reasons, not wanting to be linked to conspiracy demonstrations. 5. Different markets, as illustrated by the family friendly joke and lack of classic Kit kat lines. -
I was using that as shorthand for his post match comments on controlling the game and how much of the ball we had. If you extend that into comments on not taking advantage of a few created chances, that also wouldn't go down well. Basically, any of the reasons he's given in our press conferences would not impress.

Rangers are in a bad place by their standards, with an under fire board, manager, a patchy squad and limited resources. They still look to be competing with Celtic, whether that's realistic or not. The expectation from their fans, compared to ours is a different level. Martin would be firmly told where to go, if he trotted out possession stats.
-
Rangers fans expect wins. They would not put up with 30 passes across the back waiting for gaps to appear in sides looking to stay as compact as possible, and only venture forward on the counter.

Got to break it, to rebuild it. That was one of the things Pep learned. ๐

Pep learned a lot from him apparently, and hasn't signed a new contract that I'm aware of... ๐

I know evangelists can be a bit off putting, due to their full on approach. But it's hard not to get swept up in the excitement of posts like yours and others in recent days. I'm just going to see what's on Netflix films now, to calm myself down a bit. Coma: Remi Allen discovers that the Saints Physio department is a front for organ transplants. Perfectly decent players have brains replaced by simple mechanisms, in order to take over the world with The System. Further victims uncovered, having watched RussBall for 90 minutes, and lapsing into unconsciousness. Colossus: The Ankerson Project: Data driven tactics AI connects to all football clubs, and then takes over the world. Will it's creator, Ankerson, be able to stop it enforcing possession based football? Does he really want to? Dragan's Millions: In order to take over a MSL franchise, Dragan must first blow ยฃ300 million taking a PL club as far down as possible, in this wacky comedy.

Perhaps the data is used the other way, as a hangover from Brighton staying up. Martin will look at all the stats supporting his system, looking to develop or recruit for the missing bits. As Brighton were creating, but not converting, we are possessing the ball withouth the transition. At no point are they wondering if it's the system that's a bust.

Last week? Lallana joined way before that to turn his head. ๐
