I didn't even know we'd invited you round ours for Christmas. π Really glad our actual Christmases aren't like that.

Merry Christmas to everyone on SaintsWeb!

If Steven King had been in Threads, his books would be a lot grimmer. CBA finding some random person who agrees/disagrees with someone/something in place of having an opinion of my own.

I don't see any non elves in that workshop. I don't see any elf and safety either.

Previously, we've offered little up front, but gifted goals away at the back. Today, we offered little up front, but cleared our lines. The result is that in one game, Rusk has equalled Martin's PL away points record. The second half mostly followed the first. Fulham on top early. Then a lull before their subs started to make a difference. Ramsdale parried a very close effort away, and a second chance went just wide. In the closing minutes we had a flurry of corners to sneak all three points. But they will be happy enough with one.
-
Fulham the stronger. But we've kept them reasonably comfortably to shots from distance, and have covered those quite well. We look more solid at the back, using Martin's passing angles along with more flexible range from the back. No suicidal passing today, as the players are allowed to choose what's best. Nothing to speak of up front. Dibling raw and a bit lightweight against his opponents, but the one who is getting it and being direct. AA very quiet, working a lot of ground across the park. Fernandes doing okay. But no real chances created.

How many more games does Pep have to lose before Russell Martin's recent run is better? City clearly need to be even more extreme in their possession football. Who better to bring in, than the man Pep said they had learned so much from. π

The entire squad could grow Franny 'taches and we'd still not be likely to escape this. Needs others to slump, possibly with some points deductions, and us to have a massive uptick in form. As posted, if they were going to do it, with a hope of staying up, then that time was 6 weeks ago at least.

Consider the source material I'm using as the satire. I also added in that last line, in case there was any doubt about why this has come in. More broadly, satire and comedy are always useful in holding up mirrors and helping to bring people to account, as other freedoms are stripped away.

I think Atomic Wedgie is the name of one of those Death Metal bands, the new manager likes. π

The way it's implemented on the pitch might change. But this does seem to still have a lot of standard SR in it. Rather than just handing it over to someone, with more of a track record.
-
There seems to be a bit of that here, with him having attributes they've been looking for when bringing in others. His already having been very much on SR's thinking before, allows them to pretend they are saving face, and keeping to their underlying goals. His sides have been more defensively solid, as they wanted when brining Selles in to help Ralph. He has that pound for pound, over achieving set of results as per a Nathan. That, as per all the others, fits in with the core SR ideas on how to maximise sales. And he's got a distinctive brand of play, that got him some attention, and a move to Roma. The upward trajectory of Russell, combined with the Nathan set back, Rasmus likes. Why bring in a Moyes to just get on with it, when you can have all of that going on, in the decision making? π

This. I would have been interested to hear views, if people were interested in discussing, as per other threads. But seeing who started it, meant it was likely to end up in the usual way. Being ever vigilant to protect the canteen cutlery, can change a person. π Much the same for me, particularly with the folk I knew from school going into policing. I consider myself fortunate to only deal with certain areas tangentially. Even those, and the training, are really harrowing. From what I've seen on replies to SOG, it wasn't a distorted view of reality, so much as glibly trying to attach himself to real CPS investigative work, as opposed to the administration of it, that assisted in him getting into bother trivialising child abuse. I first thought CE was Church of England, as per recent news. But I see it's this again. And this is why people may choose not to interact. A serious subject used as an excuse for other things. All with the usual pretence a 4 year old could see through. Just in the OPs I see in replies, there's the usual stuff. They aren't posts inviting anything other than echo chambers/ validation replies. Just excuses to get out some whataboutery, old grudges that are still not over, insults to specific posters that then broadens to those not interacting. That's not even starting to take apart the comments themselves. Just a shame to see threads go this way.

If things go okay, probably best not to mention "onnus" as it sounds close to where @SNSUN is getting a tattoo. π

Still not over Farke's passing it out from the back. To put people through that again, with no hope of it changing...

I got a stare when I suggested this to my Norwich supporting dad. π

My brother has followed Italian football for decades, and gave me a breakdown of Juric's style. It wasn't a ringing endorsement (which is just fine, after our football revolutions under SR), but said that he was on a hiding to nothing at Roma. Fans were never behind it, and pounced on the first poor results and it went downhill from there. Before that, he had done well to get teams punching above their weight in a top division. Doing it across multiple teams is a plus, that makes him stand out as a go to person, just as we've done. He mentioned the tightened defence, I've seen mentioned elsewhere and preference for 3 at the back. Good timing that he's an available manager who was on SR's radar, and whose last departure had club specific circumstances around it.
