I meant to say in my last post, but I thought Benji's A-Team theme was very appropriate. Nothing says eternal life more than a show where the bad guys chopper get shot by an A-Team rocket, goes down in flames, hits a cliff, plummets to the ground, blows up...and all the bad guys run out of the wreckage to safety.

The first site that came up was the Muslim Council of Britain. So, little caveat that this is just regarding definition and not regarding reasons for governments/others to cut ties with them. They mention the All party group "Muslimness", but then helpfully give more depth to it as follows:- What Islamophobia is In 2019, the All Party Parliamentary Group on British Muslims proposed the following definition: ‘Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness.’ Drawing on analysis published since 2019, the Muslim of Council of Britain’s report sets out core conceptual components in accessible terms, establishes a framework of reference that helps determine what does – and does not – constitute Islamophobia. Types of intervention that will be Islamophobic include: ‘causing, calling for, aiding or justifying acts of aggression against Muslims’; ‘dehumanising, demonising or making stereotypical allegations about Muslims’ and ‘prescribing to/ propagating conspiracy theories about Muslims.’ What Islamophobia is not While the definition from the All Party Parliamentary Group on British Muslims has been broadly taken up, there is a small but influential group of commentators and ideologues who have vociferously opposed the definition, with some opting to misrepresent the examples set out in the definition. The Muslim Council of Britain’s report addresses commonly raised objections. Context is key when Islamophobia is considered; examples where interventions may not be Islamophobic include: ‘being critical of Islam or religions in general, which would not automatically make you an Islamophobe unless you were using the language of racism and Islamophobic; and calling out and campaigning against criminality where Muslims may happen to be involved without impugning all Muslims.’ The report emphasises how the APPG definition of Islamophobia is in fact in favour of free speech: ‘Naming a prejudice is not an act of censorship. Giving considered definitions to racism, antisemitism or Islamophobia, for example, allows us to express ourselves in a more informed and considerate manner.’

Sorry. Can't hear you over the sound of my boot polishing ahead of my flight to Budapest. 🙂 I hope you're not posting before you've read the Guardian editorial and itemised your local civil defence unit plans for the day.

I am viewing your laughing emoji through narrowed eyes of suspicion, Hypo. You're not getting to me that way. 🙂 Everyone else: Stay vigilant. Eat only canned food. Keep those curtains twitching and stay glued to The Guardian and LBC for your only updates.

Our SOGgy year continues at pace... Wiser than all 77,168,458 Republican voters, who are all "gullible". Anyone with a different view is "far right" and a "threat to us" Pearl clutching and dog whistling over an existential far right crisis threatening us all. Mitigated somewhat as anyone supporting anything different is automatically far right. Farage added to the Robinson/Hopkins tracker. 'Watch Hypo. Watch him close.' As they'd have said in The Thing to warn of the threat within our very midst! Failure to understand that the laughing emojis are firmly at the poster, as pointed out numerous times. Precious about labels on other threads, but free with nouns of "scumbag" and "nutjob." Way to bring different views to the table. Previously... That's about it for first hand human exploration. Racing to score points from the New Orleans attack with 14 victims. Our first of our many 2025 "What Tommy and Katie did next" posts.

In the last 3 days, we've had:- That's about it for first hand human exploration. Racing to score points from the New Orleans attack. Our first of our many 2025 "What Tommy and Katie did next" posts. Less a mask, than a lopsided Christmas hat worn by a drunk, throwback relative at this point.

Happy New Year Benji! Every breathe you take - Police I will Survive - Gloria Gaynor Staying Alive - Bee Gees Absolutely not Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, the default funeral track that must come with their audio equipment.

Toy executives were initially taken back by the follow up suggestion to Cabbage Patch Dolls. But having conceded that kids want cooler things and that the idea was certainly edgy, decided to greenlight the "fucking boring prick" range. 🙂

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
Holmes_and_Watson replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
From Beeb Authorities have not confirmed the identity or nationality of the perpetrator in New Orleans. The FBI has confirmed the deadly attack is being investigated as an "act of terrorism" and the suspect is dead. -
A lovely post. Thank you Christophe, and all the very best for you and yours this year and beyond.

Had it not been for the second sentence, that could have been a news item from any of the last 10 transfer windows. 🙂

I like to think that young Elon reassessed his IT career, and didn't let some of the blunter responses prevent him turning out normal and fulfilled. 🙂

I saw that. But he'll be back in two weeks. 🙂

Happy New Year everyone!

It's going to have to be a very late entry to snatch the Smugboots of the year award away now. 🙂 I caught some of his interview on the radio. He seemed proud of the longevity he's had at clubs, and warm to the relationships he's had with owners. He seemed to look back at that as a success in itself, considering the criticism and difficult situations he's managed through.

You can see the MLG ripple effect on the board after someone triggers him with "s...t...a...d...i...u...m" 🙂

That felt a little awkward to read. Sadly, no one has bought SOG a clue for Christmas. And 2025 beckons with a range of such idiocy on any number of topics. I wonder if Musk's Mars craft will be methane powered, as we have an endless BS generator here.

Harsh on Forster. It was the passing back that made him look like a lump the other week! 🙂 There are indeed. "Any regrets?" and "Are you following health and safety with all the lifting out the net you're doing?" come to mind. 🙂

Sure, it didn't get the acclaim of Field of Dreams, but I thought Costner was good in Field of Wasters. His watching the spirits of great players of the past walk away from the emptying stands he sold out to corporate incompetents, played by Razzy winner R. Ankerson, was moving. Well, bowel moving at least. 🙂

Just quickly fixing that typo. 🙂
