  1. Should I not be surprised they didn't show or even mention the Maguire stamp? Plenty of pundits have said "penalty" - enough that it deserved an analysis.
  2. I'm not much of a 'statty' type of fan so don't tend to hang around on these sort of threads so only noticed due to the amended thread title - very sad reading, condolences to all of MInsk's loved ones and RIP MInsk.
  3. Have a look on this thread on the main board, someone posted a SWR message saying there's now an 23:05 Waterloo to Southampton Central. A few other bits of info on there too.
  4. Being local (and I believe it's also Whitey's old neck of the woods) I'd certainly take your advice - this is what they say on their OS https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/the-stadium/attending-matches/getting-here/trains/
  5. Good luck with that with 60,000 piling out the ground - probably quicker to take your chances with the two-mile-trot to Seven Sisters
  6. ...or rather empty depending on how fast everyone can walk/run the 2 miles to Seven Sisters, the queues aren't too ridiculous once you get there and then hoping the train driver puts his foot down.
  7. All adult away tickets are £30. Once the residential redevelopment of the gasholders takes place there may be more desire to move the away fans and coaches away from that immediate area. Moving them to the Chapel/Kingsland corner with coaches parked on the industrial estate is really the only realistic option. But the Northam would then just lose its appeal for a 'home' end for many. Making the Northam a safe-standing terrace may help to keep some there.
  8. Officially they've got 5,100 - depending on how relaxed the club were about General Sale (usually you have to be on the data base) then some may very well have bought seats in the home areas and I'm sure a few exiled in this region will know someone who could source them a ticket. Some will just travel without tickets in the hope of picking one up or just enjoy a good day out on the lash. You always get talk of "hundreds in the home end" on this sort of occasion but rarely turns out that way in reality. But that goes out the window if the club really were selling to anybody - and will then only have themselves to blame if it does kick-off inside the stadium. Edit: Just had a look on one of their forums and someone claiming to know Thierry Small's dad and suggesting he starts today. https://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/southampton-fa-cup-match-thread.140438/page-4
  9. There's a lot of similarities between the two club, similar size cities, heavily bombed in WWII, both got an annoying over-used 'anthem' and I think regards honours just one FA Cup win each. And they can thank Southampton-born John Sillett (RIP) for that one.
  10. They'll have 5,100 excitable fans at St Mary's this weekend, that's probably about the same number of fans they had for that home cup game with Derby...but no doubt a few daytrippers tomorrow.
  11. If anyone's interested, Saints away to Luton 1976 coming on ITV4 shortly.
  12. The season following 'that day' ...didn't start too well! Miss World I believe, she did leave herself open to a bit of 'friendly banter' It's one of 3 games featured - it was great being there, big crowd and good atmosphere, and then being able to relive it the next day on The Big Match. Sunday roast, watch the match and then over the park for a kick-about with your mates.
  13. An opportunity for some of us oldies to get all nostalgic for a bit of yesteryear - Saints v Fulham 1976 on 'The Big Match Revisited' tomorrow 17.50 on ITV4. And a chance for you nippers to take in an old match at The Dell. Second division, they were flying, we were bottom (yet to win), they bowl up with George Best, Rodney Marsh and Bobby Moore in their side! Don't like to ruin it but we stuffed 'em 4-1, Best sent off towards the end of the game. Worth watching (if not for a cracking match) just to see their manager Alec Stock nearly in tears after having seen his star-studded side ripped apart by bottom-of-the-table-Saints. We finished the season above them.
  14. Some of their more regular fans are having a pop as they're struggling to sell their allocation for what they see as their more important league clash with MIddlesbrough - everyone loves an FA Cup away day, particularly the daytrippers!. *not looking forward to that fookin' 'orrible Jimmy Hill song ringing round St Mary's.
  15. Just for clarity, I’m certainly not knocking the club, their pricing for this match is excellent. I’d imagine if it doesn’t near sell-out at this ticket cost then we’ll probably not see it again.
  16. You are right of course, but this isn't really a match-up deal. Their season ticket holders can purchase 2 tickets each from the off, so a Cov ST can buy themselves a ticket but could also buy one for their mate going to their first game this season. It would have been £15 if it reached general sale for them but it'll never go that far at a tenner 2-at-a-time so plenty of their non-ST holders getting the reduced price.
  17. Next up. Tonight's show should shift a few more tickets - Cov got 4,800 at £10 same price as our ST holders so will have no trouble clearing them, surprised their's were not £15, same as general sale for home supporters. Should see a strong side with the break coming up.
  18. Agree - live on Sky this evening, hopefully they make no reference to it and stir it up.
  19. Not a lot of options if trains ruled out, often cost/timetables/rail works and you can't find a willing car driver then there's only real alternative to the 'Bingo Buses' that I'm aware of https://southamptonawaytravel.co.uk/ But travelling to an away game on a coach would come bottom of the list for myself!
  20. We may well be doing our bit more quickly but there’s always 2 clubs and also agents involved that can string things out. Most business will be concluded in the final hours of the window, as usual.
  21. There's plenty who feel there's been a cover up from Buckingham Palace over this. They're well aware of his association with a known paedophile for many years and it's been said it's the Queen who bankrolled his defence. 'If' he's convicted, then surely (like as some are suggesting with Ted Bates) the buck stops with her.
  22. The world's gone mad if this were to happen. That statue is honouring a fantastic service to this football club by, many people have said it, a good, honourable man. Where does all this stuff end? Will all statues and monuments to the Queen and royalty be removed if Andrew turns out to be a paedophile, guilty by association? And an insult to Leon Crouch who (along with bunging in money to save the club in its hour of need) replaced the 'Mandaric' one out of his own pocket.
  23. I would imagine a lot of these posts are a tad tongue-in-cheek and some will have probably signed it anyway.
  24. So that's their gobshite fans, the weather...I'll add the roadworks on the motorways, getting home at 6am, "running out" of beer in the visitors end, and them moaning that the reason they only bought a couple of thousand down to St Mary's for a Saturday game was the lunchtime kick-off. We took over 5,000 up there a few days later midweek...nah, let 'em sweat.
