Absolutely hit a few nails on the head here, and agree with pretty much everything you've said. Sadly, it moved away from being the working man's game many moons ago and the alienation between players earning stupid amounts of money and your average supporter who spends a large part of their hard-earned money paying to follow their team has never been more chasmic. There's a lot to be said for watching/attending lower league games nowadays - I attended a few L2 matches last season and really enjoyed them. That said, I know I'll still be getting to as many matches at SMS as I can afford next season, as being a fan is neither rational nor logical.....

Great read. I went to school with Mick Jnr and he was one of the funniest blokes I've ever known. He hasn't changed.
