I met Nicholl when he was a spectator at a WPGA tournament at Fleming Park. I was about 14 and radioing in scores to the leaderboard. He couldn't have been nicer, stopped for photos and chatted away for ages answering all my questions - seemed a really nice bloke

Reintegrate, play him, a few of his standard performances and all will be forgotten, hopefully with a goal or two thrown in to apologise for his behaviour

Catch 22 though isn't it? Can you imagine the meltdown on here if the club issued a statement saying 'We don't have the financial clout to challenge the Top 6 or to push for Europe, so instead we're aiming for a consistent mid-table 9th-14th, not-to-get-relegated position. Anything else is an unexpected and unanticipated bonus so don't get your hopes up'. It might be realistic, but what sort of message would it send it out to both fans and potential signings??

not disputing what you've said about either, but all seems a bit farcical that we a) sign Caceres as a last-ditch replacement for Fonte, and then don't retain him - if he was good enough, why not keep him, and if he wasn't good enough, why bother having him here in the first place, when Gardos or Jones could've served as back up CBs b) sign Bednarek, and c) didn't bid for Hoedt and Wimmer if both were, as alleged, on our radar? Seems to be an absence of planning, anticipation and the black box??

if MoPe is sending him to work on his own, presumably he's not not making himself available for training so not technically in breach of contract??

Absolutely hit a few nails on the head here, and agree with pretty much everything you've said. Sadly, it moved away from being the working man's game many moons ago and the alienation between players earning stupid amounts of money and your average supporter who spends a large part of their hard-earned money paying to follow their team has never been more chasmic. There's a lot to be said for watching/attending lower league games nowadays - I attended a few L2 matches last season and really enjoyed them. That said, I know I'll still be getting to as many matches at SMS as I can afford next season, as being a fan is neither rational nor logical.....

Great read. I went to school with Mick Jnr and he was one of the funniest blokes I've ever known. He hasn't changed.
