I recall this story every year on this thread, so might as well say it again.... I was born 2 weeks after the cup final in '76, so my Mum was obviously heavily pregnant (it was also her birthday) at the time and didn't go. However, My Dad did go and got so caught up in the celebrations that he went missing for 3 days afterwards. He has absolutely no recollection of what happened to him or how he got back to Southampton, he has a vague feeling that he was at the guildhall square...but that's it. He finally returned home in the afternoon of the 4th May...."In a bit of a state" according to Mum. Legend.

Agree, I well up for people going on there and winding them up, but try and make it look a bit cleverer than the ramblings of a 5 year old FFS !

Spent a week in Dubrovnik and a week on an island just off it called Mljet, both were really great places to visit. They both tick all your boxes....apart from one....there is a limited number of decent beaches in the area in general as the coastline is very rocky. You can find them (there are 2 in dubrovnik) but don't expect miles of golden sand. Plenty of stuff to do and look at.

This, travelling around India for 6 months was a very rewarding experience for me. Learnt more there than I ever did at school etc. Brilliant place with such diversity.

I may be wrong, but from the wording of your post, it seems that you are going to make all the arrangements for her.....I’m not sure this is the right approach, she will have a lot better understanding of what her itinerary is if she organises it herself. She can make amendments to it as the ideas start to develop and pick and choose what she likes the sound of etc., further reading and internet searches may give her ideas on places she has never heard of etc. Also, it’s probably not the best of starts to learning your way in the big wide world, if your dad does everything for you before you go.

When my sister said she was of to join ISIS, I was actually relieved when I found out that she meant the terrorist organisation, and not the strip club in Southampton !!!

We have students from all around the world working on projects for a few months, then heading back to their uni; almost all of them comment on what a shiiitehole Southampton is for night life / things to do. They are here for 6 months at a time, and spend their weekends in other towns (Brighton, Bath, Bournemouth etc) Unless you are down here to count how many student flats we have in the city, don't expect a great night out. Especially after letting 4 in....

I've always like the Volvo 480 (beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that!) and was thinking about getting one now that I've changed jobs and don't have a company car. Been looking at the two that are on Autotrader http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201412249815184/usedcars http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201410218391417/usedcars Both have issues, which the dealer (obviously) says are easy / cheap fixes, has anyone got any experience with 480's, do they look like they could be sorted out relatively cheaply?
