It does make me laugh. Southampton fans are in a better position than most other teams fans to judge which league players should be in. As saints fans we have been down to league one and up to the heights of Europe. One thing is for sure, we have seen many different levels of players. For that reason alone I feel quite comfortable in judging what level a player is these days. Yet they’re trying to convince us he’s the best keeper in the division. Loooooool. Maybe at the next “tactics night” the club should be the one listening to the fans

Who the fuck was watching Carrillo, Tall paul, Sulemana, Mara, Djenepo etc, etc, etc and thinking “yeah they’ve got enough quality to make a difference in the premier league”. Truly awful players. Would Mara even get into our league one side from a few years ago? I’d argue no chance

He should have spent the season on loan at a league 1 or 2 team. I understand why we recruited him. Sort of player that you can gamble on and hope he develops. But the way his career has been handled here is mental. The the fact we are throwing him in here and there and expecting him to do something is just awful management tbh.

Replying to this post in order as it’s annoyed me. - Coaching the whole team to a style which then means you lose every big game isn’t good coaching. - His style is not a big part of us scoring more goals this season. That’s because we have gone down a league and have better players in every position than 90% of our competitors. - He is the one that has stuck with bazunu and those players that don’t perform. - Club record unbeaten record doesnt matter in the slightest when you shit the bed in the games that actually matter - He is doing a bad job.

Someone with some actual experience of getting promoted out of the championship. And FFS do not tell me there isn’t anyone available. There are fucking loads. The club just wanted to go with a hipster option because Rasmus thinks he can reinvent football

I don’t think anyone would call him a failure. He has clearly succeeded in many respects. He is a good man manager and a good person. The sort of bloke I like having in charge as I respect him. But is he good enough to ever get us back to the premier league? Will he learn from his mistakes? Can you honestly say you think he will change and be pragmatic enough to get a worse squad promoted next season?

I am not happy to say it because I really like him. I also actually agree that we need some consistency, so I’m not saying my last post lightly. But Martin has shown zero, absolutely zero, signs of learning any lessons all season or in his career. He just makes the same mistakes over and over again. Next season, without Flynn Downes to bail his poor midfield setup out we will be much worse.

If my grandmother had wheels, she would have been a bike. I’m sorry. You can’t just ignore the results you don’t like. That’s fucking mental. And we can’t be losing 5-0 to our nearest rivals for promotion in the manner we did. It’s unacceptable. At 2-0 down you have to be pragmatic and stop the goals. Any doubts about martins ability have been proven 100% correct just in that one game alone. It’s not good enough. We can’t capitulate like that. Promotion sides just don’t behave like that. It was completely embarrassing. Whether it’s down to “PB football” or not is kind of irrelevant now and find someone who can instil a proper winners mindset. He has to go ASAP.

This is genuinely true. Our fan base is actually very patient and class with the owners, players and the managers, generally. It’s not our fault they serve up shite performance after shite performance. It’s hilarious to call the discussions on here “bullying”. Considering the size of our club and budget compared to the rest of the division. The absolute helmets in charge get pretty much a free ride. Imagine if they were in charge at West Ham, Everton or somewhere. Rasmus would have been smashed up a long time ago

Funny part is we literally have two good DMs. We could easily shut up shop and bring Charles in a pivot with Downes when we go in front. We would have won so many more games. But we persist with fannying about with it in our own box and giving the opposition a load of chances to unsettle us and eventually win. People have been calling it propaganda football, but it’s actually worse than that. It’s suicide football.

After sleeping on it and pondering it on the journey back from Leicester I am still in shock really. We were just so poor last night. We offered absolutely nothing. The big concern is the manager doesn’t even seem to think we played badly. That is the truly worrying part as in my eyes that was the worst performance since we lost with 10 men under Nathan Jones. Since Martin came in I have been unsure of him and last night he basically proved all of my doubts correct. I don’t see us ever going up with him in charge.

I know exactly what you mean. Went to watch Maidenhead the other day with some mates and it was class. The idea of going back to the PL with VAR, the big six, the money, sky, etc genuinely fills me with dread. I want saints to win every week and not go back up. I have loved the championship. It’s a strange paradox.

Could have done with him in a few games tbh. His energy and creativity was a game changer. Barmy decision to bring in rothwell over this guy. But then almost every decision the club makes has been barmy for a long time now.

He hasn’t done anything remotely impressive in his short time here to warrant being sad about. Good luck to him at United though, they’re more of a basket case than saints. There are a hundred Jason Wilcox’s out there looking for a club as big as saints to give them a chance. Mental appointment from United really.
