Which players have we done that with over the past few years? We've extracted some insane sums for players like Lavia, Livramento, JWP. What decent players have we sold cheap?
-
My point was we're not loaning out Fernandes, and if we don't get offered the correct money he'll have to stay.
-
I'm not getting into a war of words. I think the team is far better. You think the team is better, or worse, or the same. You have no opinion, but you like to criticise others.
-
I don't think we've been in a position where we've needed to though.
-
It could be all of those things. I don't think it is, but it's an opinion. What are you concentrating all your ire on me as there are loads of odd opinions on here? I think the squad is far better at the moment. I also think you're being a prick.
-
If you don't see the point, then why have you spent so much time arguing about it? However, that's fine, you think the 2023-2024 squad was better than our squad is right now. That's OK - I wholeheartedly disagree, and again I would point you to Saint jack's post as to why.
-
Why are you struggling so much with the concept of comparing now to the end of 2024's summer transfer window? It is the only real comparison we can make. What we can't do is compare the end of this year's transfer window to the end of 2024's transfer window, because it hasn't happened, and that is surely fair enough?
-
What high price players was that?
-
Yeah, I forgot about that £75m loan.
-
What proof do you have that we don't? Ramsdale is a ploy to ensure if we do get re-promoted we either get £25m, or him back. So what other players have we done this with?
-
He will not be loaned anywhere. His contract is long enough for us to tell him to suck it up.
-
Fucking hell, this forum is wetter than a mermaids minge. You're all adults FFS, grow a pair.
-
It's all supposition though - we haven't sold them yet. It's very difficult to judge how good a team is when not at the end of the transfer window. It's why the phrase "at the moment" is key. But fine, Ramsdale, Dibling and Fernandes. I also think Archer is a very good Championship player and if he plays will score a lot of goals. Downs is an unknown but Adams was no great shakes. I would say KWP is better than anything we have now (although our piss poor defences have also been on his watch as well), but apart from that we have a lot of the same players with more experience. For instance, THB is now an England International. Downes is older and more experienced.
-
If that's true, then we should be sounding the "bidding war" klaxon.
-
Didn't Suga say he wanted to stay and help us get promoted again?
-
I'm not assuming they go until they go, but if they do they will be replaced with better than we had in 2023/2024.
-
I will refer you to the below post - I would prefer to have this season's team to the team of 2023-2024:
-
What do you mean, too late? The transfer window doesn't close for a month. Why do you think we're not going to get promoted? Currently we have a far better squad than under Martin, and as we were told anyone is a better manager than he is.
-
We're in a far better financial position than we were in 2023/2024, so I disagree.
-
It feels like desperation
-
Discussing with my agent mate - flabbergasted that they're offering over £20m to £25m considering they're not in the healthiest financial position (apparently).
-
Only Everton (hmmm, maybe Chelsea) would be stupid enough to spend £35m on a player who suffers like he does...
-
They weren't with us in 2023-2024.

Aaron Ramsdale - Official: Loaned to Newcastle
Farmer Saint replied to Saint Fan CaM's topic in The Saints
But they weren't part of it (well BBD & Suga were - Suga is likely to be staying and I don't think anyone thought BBDs attitude would be so shit). I think you're getting sucked into what some other posters have been gaslighting people with, because that wasn't what I said. I said that due to PSR (hence all the piss takes about me mentioning PSR) and the fact that we had to spend £40m of our transfer budget to go backwards after losing Adams and Armstrong (which was confirmed by Solak earlier this Summer), we decided to spread our bets. - Established prem players on loans or frees (including the fact we thought we'd get our money back on Ramsdale easily - so a glorified loan - unfortunately Ramsdale was not as good as we thought he'd be and so moved down PL teams lists). - Young upside players with likely future profits. - Established and high end Championship players for the likely scenario that we get relegated, but with potential that they may develop into something better. The fact that Kraft etc did such a piss poor job and we flamed out so badly, meant that we ripped up the current scouting and purchasing strategy and replaced the whole lot, hence Sports coming in. -
Good job, and I agree 💪
