  1. The revisionist history this year is fucking startling isn't it?
  2. + HD - 412
  3. I'm not sure if you read earlier - I did say the £100k pw was probably overstated - oh, you must have as you replied to it? I wish we were Brentford.
  4. Not sure what makes you think I'm a Martin fan, I think he needs to go.
  5. Che scored 16 in 40 last season. Last time Archer was in the Championship he scored 11 in 20, and last time BBD was he scored 14 in 43, coming off the left. I think Archer is probably better, so I'd call that 6 of one... Defensively we'll have Suga to replace KWP in theory. Tactically, maybe, but then better teams in a League rarely change the way they play to stop people counteracting it. People were doing it early on last season (Sunderland, Boro etc) and people on here were commenting that tactically we'd been found out, and then we went on a long unbeaten run, so not sure that holds up particularly well either. I think we're in roughly the same position.
  6. So looking at who should be our rivals: Bournemouth - 11 players over £50k, average £63k, £36m per annum Brentford - 4 players, £56k, £12m Wolves - 7 players, £71k, £26m Ipswich - 1 player, £150k, £8m Leicester - 12 players, £76k, £47m Everton - 12 players, £81k, £50m Palace - 15 players, £68k, £53m Saints - 5 players, £77, £20m (including Bednarek, Aribo, Cornet and Armstrong - Ramsdale is on £120k) Nothing to discuss, just quite interesting to see what everyone is up against. Frank is quite clearly an outstanding Manager and they have done very well with an established core of players.
  7. What you on about - Brentford are already full of established PL players - that's got nowt to do with PSR, just that they have bought extremely well and are very well managed? Criticise the fact that we need better players for sure, but that's not what PSR is about.
  8. Not really helping Ipswich or Leicester though is it?
  9. But why is it so different to last season? We have been down there once with Martin, and got promoted - why would we automatically think that wouldn't happen second time round? I'm certainly not saying it would be a guarantee, but we have a decent chance especially as we did it last time.
  10. 1. Apart from KWP, who will we lose that makes our team weaker than last season? 2. So the same as last time, by far the weakest of the 3 relegated. Whether Leeds are stronger now is very debatable. 3. But we got promoted with that last time. I really fail to see why we were in a much stronger position to get promoted last season than we would do next.
  11. Just out of interest, why do you think we wouldn't come back up? We got promoted off the back of a new Manager playing a completely new style of football last season. Arguably we'd also have a better team as well as can't see many of our players moving on.
  12. You say that but we got promoted last season. If that was the aim then clearly it was a successful season. If they're not overly worried about maintaining status in the Prem and are more looking to use Saints as a shop window for young players then that also works.
  13. Very possibly - difficult to know nowadays - I see they have 14 players on £50k plus! Apparently Ramsdale is on £120k PW 😬 Looks at this though...
  14. Sorry to hear about your wife 😔
  15. It's fine, I made it abundantly clear it was basic and hypothetical, and then he got angry because it was basic and hypothetical. Go figure.
  16. I'd have assumed as you knew he was here this year you would have opted out of one?
  17. Yup
  18. Potter was never interested though - him going elsewhere is pretty much irrelevant to where Russ will be in a month's time.
  19. They only had coke.
  20. Bless, looks who's angry now... The point is you don't need a source to work out that we couldn't buy 4 x £30m players on £100k pw, you just need common sense to work it out - but if you can't see that then fine. I assume you did vote Brexit then 😂 Is that why you're so suspicious now and need a source, because you got hoodwinked then and you don't want to come across as that stupid again?
  21. You do get that I was forecasting the amount spent on 4 players don't you? It was hypothetical, but was to show the huge amounts that would go into purchasing those players and the profits we would have to make to counteract that. It's fine if you don't understand how it all works, or can't do the basic Maths - that's why I did it for you. I'm assuming you were probably a Brexit voter with the way you don't want to actually back yourself 😂 Not sure where you could even slightly get anger from in that response, but ok. It must have been the laughing face.
  22. The profit numbers would have to be so high the commercial revenues for a club like us are pretty much irrelevant. Player contracts are actually very standard in relation to weekly pay - when players get £100k contracts that is basic pay, not including bonuses. This isn't the NFL where you get front or back loaded contracts. Perhaps you can demonstrate your non-simplistic mathematics and wow us all 🤣
  23. Basic Maths. 4 x £30m on £100k pw over 4 year contracts would cost the club: - £30m per annum in transfer fees (so £90m over a 3 year cycle) - £21m per annum in wages (£63m over a 3 year cycle) The rules are £105m loss over a 3 year cycle, so without buying anyone else we would have to make a £48m profit over those 3 years to not have an issue. This year's liability would have been an additional £51m - the 3 years up to now were allowed a loss of £83m due to a season in the Championship. Add to that new players to the tune of £80m, so let's add £20m to the fees and £20m to the wages. That would put as at £91m for THIS SEASON ALONE. I don't need a source, I only really need basic Maths.
  24. I never said we couldn't spend more, it's more couldn't spend effectively and on what we needed ie. We couldn't buy 4 players at £30m and on £100k PW, due to PSR, which is what we needed to do.
  25. From what I've been told this is very accurate.
