  1. Back to the OP - nice picture and I am pleased to see there is no animosity with Poch at a professional level. I still think he is a great coach and wish him luck at Spurs. In my book they are less disgusting with him in charge but I still enjoyed us beating them the other week We are better off with Ron. For me though, a better picture on the night would be Kat with Ron, Nigel and Alan Pardew. That is current manager (Saints XI) and the two managers of the sides that took us from the foot of Div 1.
  2. I would be absolutely disgusted if it were a pay day loan company. The parasites of society. WHU got into a fair bit of trouble with them a few years back resulting in the deal being cancelled. Something to do with the company waiting outside works gates on pay day to make sure the punters paid...
  3. Im not really sure that he had enough appearances for me to agree or disagree. Undoubtedly talented, I think he simply did not have the physical presence to compete at EPL level. We could have bulked him up or we could have just used him as a bit player in European games. I can't blame him for going back to Spain where I am sure he will achieve great things. Best of luck to him, I say.
  4. He proved on Saturday that he gives us very different options when he comes on. Keep him. Review next summer.
  5. Hence the words 'in away' - and hey, it worked!!!
  6. In a way, you could say we have qualified. On Sunday it's a second qualifying round one leg tie against Palace.
  7. FFS. He took us to successive promotions. Bettering Ted Bates achievement taking from 3rd div to 1st div. Show some respect people. At the players dinner even Jose Fonte said they didn't expect to be promoted from the Championship at first attempt - that they were targeting the play offs so any suggestion he under achieved is wide of the mark. There is a suggestion that he had taken us as far as he could hence the change by Cortese. Hard though that decision was, it proved the right one for us. Would he have progressed had he stayed? We'll never know.
  8. I doubt there is tension. Having appointed the manager you have to let him girt on with the job and not micro manage. Some things Ron will do better and some things Poch did better. I know its a radical thing to do but putting to one side the obvious things Poch did well, one area where I think we have really improved under Ronald is that we press more intelligently. Ron has told them exactly when to press whereas Poch just thinks if you keep pressing it'll go your way eventually. Also, Ron seems far more skilled in subtly altering formations and style before and during there game depending on who we play and how things are going. Well - it works 9 times out of 10 anyway which isn't bad. I agree he has not used the youth so much but given the creme has already been sold and we are higher up the league, it's not easy. You can see from the training pictures that a good deal are involved in training with the first team.
  9. Good idea. In that you will also hear RK telling us that the club had presented him the five year plan and that he could see for himself how ambitious this club is for the future. So Ralph is correct in saying that discussions are progressing in the right direction and Ronald is correct in saying that negotiations on the contract have not started. Ignore the paranoid rantings of conspiracy. One discussion will naturally lead to the other. All in good time. Besides which - look at the article date - it's already three weeks old
  10. The funniest thing will be that 50% of those posting are gonna look right embarrased when it either happens or does not happen. Friendships can often overcome any number of issues such as wages etc so I'm not ruling it out but would be as surprised as the Keegan signing if it does come off. Like others have sensibly said, the biggest concern is whether he would actually help or hinder dressing room harmony. Most clubs can handle (and possibly need) one massive ego.
  11. Poch is a brilliant manager and coach who has persevered and is getting what he wants from the Spurs players who chose to stay. It took longer at Tottenham to win them over but job done. However, whilst you can take the guy out of Argentina....
  12. Not really. I was there in 76 and really enjoyed (still do in terms of memories) it but I yearn for more silverware which will mean we don't have to rely on that one moment in time to celebrate any success. So I sort of understand what the OP means.

Seriously I think the only reason Rickie got a bigger cheer (maybe) was because we recognise how badly he was treated at Liverpool. Matt is and always has been one of us and doing very nicely thank you with a Sky TV career. Both valued members of the 7 club along with Keegan and Paine .... .....and now Shane Long!!

    Who?
  15. Agree. Total bull****. I like the way Foeman is frank and open about players without criticising them. Lack of intensity does not mean he was not trying in training. It just means that others looked hungrier. Belle will respond well this week in training I am sure and expect him to be part of next sundays squad as a result.
  16. No mix up. Freddie blagged his way on to the bus from the hotel in 76 and sat with the staff on the back row of the trainers bench at Wembley. He had such a positive effect on the players he was specifically invited back for the 79 final. Freddie often ended up at wembley (publicity seeking?) and was actually an avid Everton fan.
  17. FWIW there is no such thing as a website with a credible source. Sometimes they get lucky....
  18. If you watch the video Stokes looks marginally off side until a third player comes into shot and then he is clearly on side with the ball in the air.
  19. I love the bit in the article where he criticises managers who let players wear headphones when they get off the coach yet admits to letting a player smoke a pipe in the dressing room... Every comment about the club is barbed with an undertone of 'they simply don't understand how great I am' That said, Mac was a great personality in his day and I refuse to let the failing of an elderly man tarnish the wonderful memories I have of him and the club in the 70s and 80s
  20. I think people are looking for problems where there aren't any. It's the technique of following players that works, not one persons approach. That is why we were not worried when Mitchell left. There are plenty of good replacements. Similarly, as someone else said, there are enough good players around in all positions for us to compete against the top teams. Do people honestly think Trippier was saying to himself 'I want to go wherever Mitchell goes...'
  21. Not if you spell it like that...
  22. What the hell - lets have all three...
  23. We are professional enough to judge him on his ability as a coach not what a minority of fans think of him as a player in the last couple of years of his contract if that helps reassure you.
  24. Given the money they are putting in you're probably right. Given the money they are putting in, who can blame them.
  25. You've not been following Saints very long have you...
