Before this turns into a bashing Lowe thread (Geez, some people have a real problem letting that go don't they....) I am slightly disappointed by some of Macs comments but it would hardly be a marketable book unless it had a few controversial bits in it. Still remember the LM era as some of the most entertaining in the clubs history and I thank him for that. My advice as he is now welcome back at the club (rightly so) is not to unzip his flies and **** on the club president. Bad form Lawrie, bad form...

I think this is the article you are probably thinking about http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/former-rangers-skipper-steven-davis-1704494#X0Bglymwp3xO31YF.97

Good summary. I only come on this thread because I was sorry it did not work out for him here (because of our formation / style under RK largely) and wish him all the luck in the world with Boro but I don't think for a moment it would be good to have him back. That said, if his Boro record was all we had to go on I have no doubt those writing him off would be rubbishing Tadic instead and saying Gaston is exactly the sort of player we should be looking at ;-)

I really rate Matt. Especially when we play 3 at the back with Bertrand covering behind him. He plays a very simple game. He does not generally take a touch before he crosses the ball which makes him a nightmare for defenders. If he does see the early ball it generally goes back which is what the fans get frustrated by. But that is the job he is asked to do and he does it very well. Never panics in defence either. Always times his tackles well.

Forgot to add that it was in Bucharest that the scarf came from #poorexcuse

I'm with you. Would never do it but would not go as far as to tell others how to behave. It actually reflected well on there club that fans could be so gracious in defeat judging by the posts on twitter. Helps to make it more of a family day out than being dominated by the neanderthal minority. Edit: Actually I do have a half and half scarf at home somewhere. Seemed a good idea at the time and I blame it on the cheap booze ;-)

Indi or Kongolo will be all we need based on current squad. But we will need to replace Mane and Wanyama if either goes. My preference for those two would be a straight swap with the club - Januzaj for Mane and the Ox for Wanyama. Nathan Redmond is also on the radar. Think We will survive without Wanyama with Romeu, Clasie and the ever improving JWP

In that case should we be renaming the thread to 'the rather previous 2016/17 team uniform thread' .....?
-
Absolute ******. Yes he has made mistakes that have led to goals (twice as I recall). I also recall that VVD and Fonte have made similar errors but by good fortune - not skill - they did not result in goals conceded. Yosh is a very good centre back who has paid the price for being played out of position. That's a credit to his adaptability and not a criticism of RK's tram selection.
-
It's just bad form to talk about your next sponsor when you still have 3-4 months on the current deal. Would probably result in financial penalties.
-
Maybe its something to do with Stephens being highly rated but the England set up and Jordan being named Swindons player of the season last year. Centre backs tend to mature a little later so I would not write t hem off just yet.
-
Yes that's pretty much as I remember the comments. RK clearly still sees him as one for the future and the work in the meantime needs to take place through diet and gym work. He is clearly a very talented player but will he have the patience to develop with Saints? He did alright with his last club so part of him must be wondering whether the effort of beefing up is worth it when he can go back and be almost the first name on the team sheet.
-
lol. I can't wait. I think it is just nice to see at least one player leaving Saints and actually benefiting (other than financially). Well done Gaston. If you do get promoted, I suspect you will get a good reception back here next season. But please don't score....

To be fair, most museums celebrate the history of the club and include items that can sometimes trigger a happy memory. For example, the Old Trafford museum has a grey away shirt that was unique in that it was the only time they changed their shirts and half time... (....and still lost)

This reminds me of the teenager who thinks he invented sex. Was absolutely convinced it was something his parents knew nothing about.
-
Yes. We're losing Vic anyway so may as well get something out of it.
-
I'm guessing there will be a 34th minute applause? A nice way of celebrating the clean sheet record (if we get there....)
-
It really isn't as far as the consequences are concerned. Ask anyone who has been trained in boxing or martial arts. You have to defend yourself responsibly. 9/10 that means walking away.
-
What about this Wenger bloke who has such a good reputation for bringing on youngsters. How's that going? Ox would be a good signing for us but worried he is becoming a bit injury prone.
-
I thought the only desire was to see VVD and Toby in the same Saints line up but hey, that's all history. Happy with Koeman. Happy with VVD. Happy with Fonte. Poch has done well at Spurs despite a shaky start. It's really good management - those that don't sign up to his approach are shown the door. But as you say, I would on balance prefer Koeman.

You obviously didn't try the Staffordshire oatcakes....!!

It really doesn't matter what we think. His agent needs the commission and Vic is not strong enough to make up his own mind (weird given how strong he is on the pitch) so he will be gone in the summer. He still has a lot to learn here before we can define him in the same class as Morgan, Luke, Gareth or Theo.
-
I don't know about classic but a lot of people really liked Gaston. He worked hard, got unlucky with injuries and probably saw the style of play change to the point where he simply did not fit here. I like to think the thread was revived because people were pleased to see him do well. We all hoped he would deliver the goods whilst at Saints and it's bitter sweet to see him do it elsewhere - but good on him. Let's hope he can keep it up!!!
-
Issues is what you have ;-) Hull did well out of us on th fee but he has come good - it's not coincidence form came with a prolonged run in the side.

Post-Match Reaction: Swansea City 0-1 SAINTS
Mowgli replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Yes, I probably agree. I looked at it a couple of times and I really don't think a pass was actually on.
