  1. They should certainly scrap the ‘lap of (call it what you like)’ this season and just group up in the centre circle on the final whistle and collectively applaud all the fans (remaining) to show some appreciation of the commitment shown by supporters selling out home and away every wretched week. It’s been horrendous.
  2. "6ft 2, eyes of blue, Jimmy Steele is after you, la-la-la............" OK not a manager but one of my favourite ginges (even if he did do that one fook up that cost us a semi-final in Europe)
  3. That was a bit of a crazy day and a busy trip back to the station after. There was a bit of unrest at halftime, I remember a couple of police horses coming onto the bottom of the terrace to quell a bit of agitation! Three years before we had taken 10,000 up there in the FA Cup, another lively occasion so probably added to the atmosphere in '79. Goodison will be a mad atmosphere this weekend, fantastic noise when they're up for it but a bit different to what you usually get week in, week out other than for the real big games (same as Anfield). They'll certainly be up for this one.
  4. Just watched that from 41 mins (up to them talking Man U) and was a very good listen. Dyche said just about everything myself (and probably a majority of Saints fans) agree with and put into better words that many of us have already been saying. Couldn’t disagree with anything he said...can we send a link to Rasmus and Co…?
  5. They secretly want fans to invade the pitch so they have a valid reason (and blame the fans) to cancel the traditional last home game of the season lap of…ahem… honour. Could be a bit embarrassing for them in a near deserted stadium with a handful of happy-clappers and another small rabble of spotty ‘erberts screaming foul-mouthed abuse.
  6. You're right, took around 5,000 up there, was a lively day.
  7. Most likely imo. Just sitting on the land until it becomes worth more for the many thousands of new homes needed in this country. Then they’ll cash in. Goodson is just on death row.
  8. Yep, better news for our travelling fans, so Sunderland going up from that point of view. Just a shame Hull and Preston scraped by and three ‘southern’ teams dropped out the other end.
  9. Hasn't the tree recently been said to represent the 500 year old 'Knightwood Oak' from 15/20 miles away in the New Forest, hence that new champagne lounge also being named after it? Certainly not very 'Southampton' - should have been a ship. Apologies, just noticed the spelling mistake - didn’t mean “ship”, I meant shi…💩
  10. We get 4x the fans inside St Mary's than Valenciennes get at home games but they're showing far more resolve and passion than you see over here. Lucky for their directors they've had a decent season compared to us! English stadiums are full of pussies these days.
  11. 5 years of badge talk right here https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/topic/54764-club-crest-would-you-change-it/page/7/
  12. Apparently Indian fighter pilots have dropped 1000 Onion Bhajis and 500 Poppadoms on Pakistan....they said thats just for starters.
  13. Indeed, once they're clean out of sight and, say, 4 goals up, they'll just try and ease their way through the last 30 minutes......OK, last 85 minutes.
  14. I think the Northam will be far better next season, some will no doubt bail out (have heard talk about moving to be nearer away fans but be prepared to be forced to sit) but should still be a popular end. There’ll be Championship chants returning that disappeared in the PL and just having the expectation of winning a few will impact the atmosphere. Possibly less season ticket holders in there but more pay-as-you-gos that will further pick up with improved results.
  15. They’ll certainly coast the game but still go on to score another 3 or 4 or…….
  16. Wahey! We're reinventing football again....... *good to hear, long may it continue!
  17. Yep, “We've actually done well against the big teams, and we won't roll over at home” just look at those results Big teams: SFC 0 v Man U 3, SFC 1 v Chelsea 5, SFC 0 v Spurs 5, SFC 1 v Newcastle 3, SFC 0 v Villa 3...and still Man City and Arsenal to come Even the little ones: SFC 0 v Brentford 5, SFC 1 v B/mouth 3, SFC 0 v Brighton 4, SFC 0 v Burnl............ Thank fuck we're no pushovers at home.
  18. *would that also apply to fans suggesting poaching a manager from another (bigger city and stadium) club that have a great chance to be promoted?
  19. ...or Brentford, a club Ankersen was actually involved with.
  20. Eustace is more likely to go to Leicester, wouldn't even need to move his family. But as Derby have survived he may fancy sticking around there a bit longer. Even if Rohl previously fancied it, he must be looking on at the mess here and thinking a German club would be a preferable destination.
  21. If someone told me there was a secret collaboration between a lot of these players, and even some coaching staff, that they were deliberately sabotaging games as they don't really want to be here, I wouldn't be calling them loonies. We were shit under RM but some have clearly thrown their toys since their mate got the boot.
  22. I was a ST holder for many seasons until fairly recently when I decided to chuck it in for a Membership. I’ve still no real desire to change that and will once again just take my chances as a member. But this moment keeps me returning in the hope of it one day repeating - May 1st 1976 (only 4 or 5 years after I first started going!)
  23. Just over 100 tickets remaining, mostly restricted view. Been on restricted sale to ST holders (with number of aways), if not sold out by end of day will get snapped up tomorrow when on sale to all ST holders.
  24. I'm going a bit MLG on you here but they're only expanding the upper tier. It will be wider and deeper with new seating on each side and at the front as they're also doing away with the double-decker corp boxes - and adding a new roof. But to show how the gap is widening between the top dozen or so clubs in England and the rest of us, even once Villa Park increases to 50K there will still be 8 larger stadiums in the PL, 10 once Chelsea and Leeds expand. You could fit 8 Dean Courts inside Man U's proposed new stadium.
  25. Sold out a lower allocation. Sales were slow initially and as season was basically over for us the club didn't take any more. The 2k then sold soon after, a few weeks back, so we may very well have sold 3k by now.
