  1. Ah, the famous ’Three Rs’ Rasmus…Russel…Relegation
  2. After the Lord Mayor’s Show, their heads now focused on the semis…heart says 0-0. Head says 0-3.
  3. Only £60m? Pah. Make that over £100m........ "Tottenham and Man City must pay over £100m to sign Tyler Dibling" https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/03/26/southampton-100m-tottenham-man-city-tyler-dibling/ https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/2032676/tottenham-man-city-southampton-tyler-dibling
  4. That was a bad time for RSB though, they still talk about the year they only had 5 players and no goalkeeper. Still ended the season with more points than us though…
  5. I'd say that's a real possibility. If they do let's hope they can cobble together a side this summer that could do it justice.
  6. Planning permission for flats on the gasholders site was granted last year but that doesn't count for much in this city these days as we see approved scheme after approved scheme never actually making it off the drawing board. So I guess the club could always step in yet if it stalls.
  7. That always seemed the obvious outcome but looks like it's still possible for new industrial units could replace it, according to this https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/24982144.southampton-warehouse-devastated-fire-demolished/ And there's also the possibility that a new asphalt processing plant could be built on the riverside in front of the stadium that would scupper plans the club and city council recently talked of about opening up the waterfront. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/25023559.plans-new-asphalt-processing-plant-next-st-marys/#comments-anchor
  8. You can scorn him for his idealistic beliefs though if he was unable to accept they were hopelessly failing and then couldn’t/wouldn’t change it.
  9. Yeah, agreed, spent a lot of my childhood growing up around Shirley/Shirley Warren in the 60s and there was certainly plenty of wrong’uns around back then. Just now understand the dangers the olds could see back then, when we couldn’t, seems worse with the graphic coverage everything gets these days.
  10. When you’re young you don’t really get the fear your parents seem to hold of the pitfalls of everyday life but you certainly get once you become parents yourself. I’ve got grandkids now and it concerns me greatly how this world is going and the future looks a bit ominous at times with so many nutcases running around. I guess you just notice it more as you age.
  11. That Oisin post was excellent and articulated well what many have to say, he's getting a lot of likes for it. And it's telling that the only poster to pull him up on it is the usual club stooge. We're the mugs who fork out to watch this shower of shit week after week. After week, after week…but I noticed the Directors box looked a bit sparse yesterday, even those getting freebies can’t stomach this shit any more. Was it lonely in there Fabrice or were you one of the no-shows?
  12. The groans were pretty much universal with the squad announcement and he was clearly reverting back to his shambolic defensive formation even after improvement with a 4 at Anfield. We started brightly with a bit more attacking intent but getting in decent situations out wide with no striker ain't creating too many actual chances. Having said that, we had 2 very score-able opportunities early on. Their first effort that somehow Ramsdale let past him killed the game instantly. Best part of the day, having a pint at halftime outside the KIngsland in the warm sunshine. It was that good many didn't go back in and plenty more just fucked off with news of their second. There was a constant flow of fans disappearing over the train bridge. Bad times.
  13. In no particular order 🎶There's only one🎶 Stevie Williams Steve Mills (I was another there for his testimonial - fantastic talent who's life was cruelly cut short) And of course 🎶Stevie...🎶 Steve Moran How can you not? (and lucky to be there and at Anfield) ...and a shout out to (if only for this) Steve De Ridder and for the scenes that followed
  14. Blimey, I wouldn't go that far. Will be good to shake the 'Derby' monkey off our back, and I'm a tad (very slightly) more confident if he sticks with 4 at the back, but this ain't no cup final Every time I walk out of St Mary's after yet another defeat I'm thinking that I'll be giving the next one a swerve, but here I go again today...it's just what we do.
  15. Good that we will be active in the summer but I’m gonna suggest that almost all business (for most clubs) won’t be concluded until the last few days of the transfer window.
  16. FFS, even if he wasn’t aware of PL standards (which would be really unbelievable) he also had a number of players in his squad that had already played at that level that should have enlightened him. And he still hadn’t come to terms with it by December.
  17. I wonder when was the last time he ever had to pay for a ticket to watch this football club.
  18. I can certainly understand that if they feel there's a good chance they may yet comeback from these injuries. They're making no difference to our season now but if they go injury free until the end of this season (and recapture previous form) then they'll be real assets in the Championship next year* *I'm trying to be really optimistic here in the unlikely event they don't break down again
  19. If you want to see the current Wed fans’ take on all this click the links. Two separate threads about it on that forum, a few quotes like this for some questioning their recent form “I agree the recent results have been poor but I would say we are playing our best football and creating more chances than we have all season . I think maybe people are confusing a lack of quality with lack of motivation” https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/337415-danny-röhl-walked/ https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/336967-röhl-to-southampton-dont-hate-me-lol/page/23/#comments
  20. I'm OK with the prospect of Rohl coming in, I've read of a few reservations amongst fans concerned that Wednesday's recent form is sketchy but for a club of their size player quality is limited. And could any drop in form have coincided with the constant rumours about him coming here? Things like this must affect morale, but despite the links he still appears to be liked and respected up there. It's happened before.
  21. Built on an old farmer’s field, the original Cabbage Patch Dolls. That not a bad nickname for ‘em tbh……
  22. I agree, Dragan Solak is not the problem here, far from it. I think it was said that he wasn’t a big football man when he came in, he put his trust in others that he was convinced by. And to be fair, last season, despite flaws, was a successful one, so he had to give them the opportunity in the PL. But once he seen what’s happening he’s acted. In the relatively short time Solak’s been more hands on he’s moved people out, brought in Spors and a new manager. Juric hasn’t worked out but he has started addressing the issues. Who knows what will happen back in the Championship, we’ll likely have a new, unrecognisable team, and probably manager, but I’m happy DS is the right man at the helm.
  23. When we do play them they'll still be shit but they will have Jamie...fookin...Vardy and we all know what happens then.
  24. I honestly don't know of any fan that really believed we'd stay up this season, none of my mates anyway. Plenty of us on here were saying if RM stuck to his possession malarkey we'd probably be down with the Christmas decorations.
  25. Player of the Season can go ahead but limit votes to just the two players - Mateus Fernandes and Aaron Ramsdale.
